for the month of march, coastgab is on pace to record a quarter million page views.  that beats any 31 day period going all the way back to our start in april 2008.  thanks for hanging out around here.  it's truly nice to know that the curve balls of my daily grind can be forgotten, if only temporarily, when i drop in to see what's happening around here.  you're sucking up a shit-ton of bandwidth, and i'm appreciative since it forces my hosting company to actually WORK for that money i send them every month.  muahahahaha!

seriously, though... i'm grateful for the time you've invested in building this community.  without you, it's, "cue the tumbleweed."

Here's something that popped into my mind a couple of minutes ago, this Art Bell Message was timed not for when our thread was slowing down! Look at the calender, it's almost the end of February, which ends a 4-month drought of Art not being on the air. I don't know where this is coming from, space or somewhere else, but Art will announce sometime in March his plans to return to the air! An announcement is coming soon!
are you still standing by this?

Gee, I hate to be a party pooper, but when I read Art's post, all I got from that line about change was that he was referring back to his previous remark about radioactivity - like "we are sitting ok right now as far as the radioactivity not coming our way, but that could all change in the wink of an eye, we could start getting blasted with it and have to suddenly depart from here" - something on that theme.
hmm... i dunno.  that's not quite how it struck me.

Alright, I hate to be the skunk in the garden...really I do.

My "sources"(common sense and reality) tell me that MAYBE Art will do a podcast. To expect anything more than that,I believe,is false optimism run amok. I mean this business of him coming back full-time is so unrealistic and is pure fantasy,IMO. First off, what company would sign a serial abdicator who will be 66 in June? Hate to break the news, but Art's brand has diminished greatly due to C2C's decline and his own inconsistent habits. It's not 1998,his stock has dropped-nostalgia may cloud the view of some. I've come to see Art as akin to a pro athlete. Fans take the losses harder than the player does. Many of you here care FAR MORE about C2C than Art does.

Listen I hope I'm wrong...but I doubt he's coming back to C2C in ANY form.  And Whitley needs his Haldol upped. That trailer is really...odd.
i'm with you.  i refer the gang to a previous post of mine.

It seems that today's rash of radio show threads has crystallized the need for a general radio forum.  May I suggest including a section for that nearly extinct breed, real radio DJ's?
there will certainly be a section for anything/everything radio.  please keep that idea on the back burner, and when we get everything reworked around here, i'll make sure there is a section for it.

i remember hearing miller fill in for hannity in september of 2003.  i believe it was his first foray into talk radio, and i recall wishing he'd replace hannity.  he was that good.  i'm glad he's doing a radio talk show.  it's totally up his alley.

Hi there,

We are not glowing here, more radiation is on the way to North America than here so all is well.

There may be a change in the works, more on that as it unfolds

The Bells are all well and Asia finished her first year of school
today with a show put on by the school.

Art, Airyn & Asia

hey, thanks for posting this over here.  i just got tingly.

The only decent weekend show is Handel on the Law.
love his show.
#18554
i remember when i used to listen to AM radio religiously, i was always disgusted by the weekend programming.  it was like warm beer.  i mean... because it's the weekend, that means i want to learn how to grow petunias or lay grout?  really?  i always wished they'd stop pulling all of those atrocious weekend shows off of the satellite receiver and pony up a little $$$ for local talent to have a chance at doing a potentially interesting show... or at least run replays of the more solid content from the week (rush).  since terrestrial radio is now dead (or at least dying), i guess it doesn't matter much anymore.

oh, and marc... thanks for taking the initiative in setting up all of these "general" radio threads.  it's the start of good things to come...

Colmes, though, I like. Liberals are notoriously unfunny in my opinion, but his treatment of the near-retard conservatives who call his show cracks me up.
although colmes' opinions usually make me puke (o.j. was innocent?????), i think he comes across as a really nice guy you'd enjoy being around.  i always liked him as a human.  i also agree with you wholeheartedly about liberals being notoriously unfunny.  i understand the apparent tendency for most comedians/entertainers to be liberals, but when you see them out of their element discussing politics or whatever "cause" they've chosen to sponge off of, they come across as militant, bitter, condescending assholes who take themselves far too seriously.  i think conservatives are more capable of laughing at themselves.  just my observation.

nearly two years later, i've come to the conclusion that leo laporte is an insufferable phony.  i do not like this man.  however, i continue to listen to SOME of his network's podcasts because it's a really good way to stay connected with tech news.  i wish i could find a decent alternative to his network, though.  it's difficult to suffer through laporte and his stable of hipster subordinates.

He tends to mirror some of Savage's mannerisms.  The two actually trade barbs about each other from time to time on-air.
levin doesn't like savage because savage routinely makes fun of hannity and rush.  savage is a total outsider.

as you know, we're going to be transitioning this forum to a more generalized "talk radio" format rather than focusing specifically on art bell and/or coast to coast am.  the site will have to be renamed, and in the course of doing so, i'm also going to need a new banner/image/logo at the top.  anyone here have graphics skills?  there's absolutely zero pay in it for you, but you'll be able to sleep well at night knowing your logo is being enjoyed by thousands of people daily.

Rush is definitely the smartest, funniest kid in the class, except maybe for Savage, but he's the loner guy who drinks cheap wine at recess and writes in his journal. Hannity is the letterman with the cheerleader girlfriends and the teeth and dad's car.  O'rielly is the loudmouth who dropped out cuz he's too smart for school, and Schultz is the kid with the pocket protector.
i'm sorry, but i nearly did a spit take when i saw you included schultz's name with the others.  he's nowhere near the league they play in.

Best spit take ever

i find that if i'm looking for information, hannity is NOT the man to turn to.  he provides no analysis... only dried up "conservative" talking points that went stale 15 years ago.  there's no intellectual footwork taking place behind what he does.   it's lazy radio.  if i want conservative talk radio, i'll turn to rush limbaugh.  he's far better at it than hannity EVER could be, and i'll come away from rush actually having been exposed to some of the best analysis available anywhere in political media.  i see hannity's success as a reflection of the dumbing down of our culture.  i can tell you what his take on ANY issue will be without him even having to take a breath.  he's predictable, unintelligent, seemingly uneducated, and boring.

down with the wall-banger.

I noticed someone at GLP tried creating the "new new official george noory sucks thread" and the mods have already deleted it. Google shows it as having been indexed as recently as March 12th. I wonder why the sudden "about face" from the GLP admins on the subject of Noory's suckage.
