One thing I've always hated about George is how he introduces callers during open lines.
"let's go to ___________ in ____________.  Hey _________, welcome to the show(or "go ahead")!"
First, he says the person's name and location, but it seems like whenever there's the opportunity, he always says the nickname version(Jonathan/Johnny, Joseph/Joey, Andrew/Andy, etc.) of it the second time.  I'm sure it's an attempt to be more "personable" but it bugs the hell out of me, and it's so predictable when he's going to do it.

That's funny -- when I used to listen I notice he would always start off with the person's name as it's on his screen, and if it was a diminutive name, he would then refer to their full name. Like, "Let's go to Tim in Utah. Hey, Timothy, go ahead!". He must be switching it up now.

I get irritated over his mispronunciations like saying the word "open" as "OWN-PEN". Adding an "N" unnecessarily. There's too many others to list and I've blocked them out of my memory, but I always hated that one especially. OWN-PEN lines. Ugh.

Radio and Podcasts / Re: Ian Punnett

I'm wondering if there isn't a real opportunity over the next 5 years for alternative internet radio station/format of the type that Coast Gab founder MV and others are pioneering that can appeal to an audience that thinks for itself.  Curious who the pioneering sponsors might be as well. What would be really cool would be if someone like Ian would take a bold step away from the 'safety and security' of commercial radio and help lead the charge? Ian? Someone?

That's basically what Adam Carolla has done since his morning show was axed. He literally started a podcast either the next day or the following Monday from his last show on terrestrial radio. His podcast has been rated 1 on iTunes since. Granted, he is definitely not paranormal talk, but it does prove that if you have a faithful following, the listener's will go to you. And podcasting is so much better anyway because of the infrequent commercials (they're more like plugs in between chat sessions) and because it is uncensored. And over the course of almost 2 years that Adam has been podcasting, he's accumulated a decent share of sponsors.

I am positive if someone like Ian Punnett or George Knapp chose to venture out and create their own podcasts, the fans and sponsors would back them every step of the way. I have completely revised my previous opinion of Ian Punnett and now regard him as a top interviewer/entertainment personality. The dude does his homework, can articulate himself, and chooses a variety of topics that are interesting to paranormal aficianados, and people who like odd, fringe topics in general.

HAL... thanks for that analysis.  this guy "badboy" sounds like he represents EVERYTHING that sucks about message boards.

I see BB as that security guard / employee who takes his job "a little too seriously."

I worked @ Best buy from 2001 - 2003. One day a guy came in and was looking at a laptop, disengaged from those secuirty "wires."

After 2 mins, he bolted and ran through the front door. I worked in cellular / satellite / PDA's at the time, and my department was very close to PC Home Office... 2 very low level employees ran after the guy like they had stock options in the company! And then the Loss Prevention guy comes up to me and ask "why didn't you run after him?"

I reply "huh? My job is to sell cell phone's, palm pilots and satellite receivers with extended warranties and accessories. I get (at the time) paid $9 an hour. Do you REALLY think I'm gonna run after someone, when it's totally not in my job description, for $9 an hour?"

Loss prevention managers response "Wow you're right, those 2 are morons." LMAO!
WOW.  i hate hate hate employees/co-workers who are like that.  it's just really frustrating to see such a misappropriation of dedication.

Recently in the news there was a Dutch Bros coffee barista who was robbed at gunpoint who incidentally shot and killed one of the robbers. Possibly with the robbers' own gun. He was placed on a month's suspension for violating the company policy. Now in that case it is ridiculous because he defended his own life. But people who go after thieves for a laptop, or a 6 pack of stolen beer, etc. should be held accountable.

Has anyone seen Inception? Overrated or worth the hype?

Ok now theres a guy on who says "Right?" every 15 seconds, who gave a 35 second intro on how great Noory is.

I forgot why I didnt listen to Noory anymore. I remember now.

Sports talk will have to save me tonight

That's annoying. The worst is when there's a guest who says "you know what I mean?" after every 2-3 sentences. I cringe on their behalf.

hmm... i get sort of tired of people using angelina jolie as this sort of "go-to gal" when attempting to make a point involving a steamy woman of some sort.  ok, she's obviously got something going on... but i never quite found her to be my type.

That's funny, I was just thinking earlier about how often I hear Angelina Jolie as the requisite Most Beautiful Woman In The World That Ever Existed Ever. Kind of like how people reference George Clooney as the Most Handsome Man Ever when he's really not.

I just rediscovered the Paranormal Pastor

http://theparanormalpastor.blogspot.com/

He has some really good, freaky stories posted if you ever get bored one night. :)
#278
I was driving home listening the other night and he had on some guest talking about how the CIA or military or whoever now recruits physically fit young women athletes to become stealth undercover agents called "Honeypots" or "Honeytraps", I think?

They had a Beavis & Butthead-esque exchange where the guest commented something like "George, if it came between a meeting with you, or a meeting with someone like Angelina Jolie, sorry but I'll take my chances with her!", or some such bullshit. And George responded with a chuckle that he understood. You could practically hear them fapping in the background.

Is there any evidence that proves BadBoy, is in fact, not actually George Noory?
#280
Wow, thanks for sharing those stories. How frightening for you to experience that, especially as a child. I also really liked the one you told about your friend. I've never heard anything like that before.

When my brother (the same one who has sleep paralysis and sees shadow people) was about 4, he saw what he described as the devil looking in his bedroom window. He screamed bloody murder and ran to my parents room. He insisted on moving in with me and never stepped foot in that room again. Looking back, my mom thinks it was probably a man peeping through the window, but I wouldn't be surprised if he actually did see some malevolent being. It doesn't seem very uncommon in children.

I can't even imagine how someone would cope with that, or with what you described. Have you ever seen a shadow person?

Quote from: ringthane on December 01, 2010, 04:18:17 AMi had one creepy/paranormal experience as a kid during sleep paralysis and it was the most f*cked up, terrifying thing I've ever experienced. ::shudder:: Thanks god i don't have t put up with it anymore, i used to hate going to sleep because of it.

Like Ian Punnett would say.. are you going to unpack that? I'm intrigued.
#282
My husband also has sleep paralysis occasionally and he says it feels like he is going to have a heart attack but he can only move the tips of his fingers. I've never experienced anything like that, thank God, and knock on wood.

My brother also experiences it sometimes. The last time he told me about one of his experiences, he said he woke up frozen and saw a huge shadow person at the foot of his bed. The shadow person then OPENED the bedroom door and walked out. It gives me chills just imagining it.

Both of them say the paralysis usually happens if they're sleeping on their backs -- is that how you were sleeping, Patty? Or your wife, MV?

Randi Rhodes. Horrible voice.

That's interesting what you have to say about Catherine Austin Fitts, HAL 9000. I recently looked her up to find out more about her communal-living situation, but couldn't find much information. I did find some other scary stuff, though. I always thought she was a harmless financial advisor who was occasionally on those dreadful financial crisis-themed shows that I have to turn off. Turns out, she is quite a loon. My biggest gripe is with an article she wrote about flu vaccines being a government conspiracy to weed out some of the population.

Here:
http://www.infowars.com/catherine-austin-fitts-purpose-of-flu-vaccine-is-depopulation/

I think George Noory, Catherine Austin Fitts, and certain other guests who denounce vaccines and other medical treatments (Christian Wilde and his turmeric hawking in lieu of medication for heart disease, for example) are very irresponsibly promoting information that is foolish and unsubstantiated in most cases. They do not have the medical background to make these claims. I realize a lot of the subjects on Coast to Coast boil down to conspiracies and governmental lies -- I just think certain topics and opinions they spout off should be slightly more researched, or at the very least offered an alternative point of view by someone qualified in the field.

In June 2008 I had two separate experiences of hearing angels singing.

Thanks for sharing that story.  Was there anything special going on in your family or neighborhood at the time, or did it seem random?

It was completely random and out of the blue. I had always hoped to see an angel during dark moments in my life, so it was only odd in that I heard the singing during a very calm and uneventful time.

well, based on what angeleyes posted here, i'd love to hear an interview with fanthorpe, but with anybody but george.  noory just manages to pull the bore out of people.

Lionel Fanthorpe is frequently billed as The Best Storyteller in the Worldâ,,¢ by George Noory. So yeah, I'd wait until he is on with another host to truly enjoy his storytelling capabilities.

The only "new" Unsolved Mysteries I liked is the ones from 2002 when Robert Stack came back to host an extra season or two. I will not watch the newest version. Robert Stack absolutely made the show.

I received all of the DVD's in that box set a few years ago as a gift and promptly watched them all. I like how they are separated out by subject. It's funny how many Coast to Coast guests have been on the show. Even George Knapp made an appearance on one of the alien segments. It's a great show that's held up well over time -- I wouldn't mind seeing some of the updates though.

I hate it when people say, "Can I ask you a question?"  That WAS a question!

Ugh, I know.

I hate when people call a show and promise their story/issue will be really short. They're always the ones who waste time with excessive detail and frustrate the hosts.

In June 2008 I had two separate experiences of hearing angels singing. As you've gathered from my username and avatar, I'm interested in angels. I never had an encounter before the singing, though.

It came on very suddenly. I was lying in bed surfing the web when I started hearing this singing from a distance. There weren't instruments. It was just the sound of several voices singing in perfect harmony. The song was very upbeat. It would sometimes go to a slightly slower pace, then pick back up to the original speed. I heard it twice. I knew it wasn't coming from outside, but I still doubted myself and thought maybe it was an auditory hallucination. I remember searching for anything like my experience online but found nothing.

This past summer I asked my husband if during that time he had ever heard anything. I was pretty shocked when he said he heard the same thing. I forgot about it until a Coast to Coast show a few weeks ago, which I believe was hosted by Art Bell, had an open line caller saying she had also heard the voices of an angelic choir singing. She stated it was very loud, however. I was struck because she mentioned it occurred around the same time frame I heard them, but she was located in another state.

I saw her in person (and Stanton Friedman) at a UFO conference in May and I have to say her voice is even worse in person. Also she looks like a cross between Diana von Furstenberg and a bootleg Sophia Loren. She was in a leopard-print mini-skirt and knee-high leather boots and a leather jacket with her hair all frizzed out. The local yokels were impressed, I'm sure.

QuoteThompson first met Janet Reno in November 1975, when he applied for a job as an assistant State's Attorney in Dade County, but was not hired.[12] In 1988, he ran for prosecutor against then incumbent Dade County State Attorney Janet Reno, after she had declined his request to prosecute Neil Rogers.[13] Thompson gave Reno a letter at a campaign event requesting that she check a box to indicate whether she was homosexual, bisexual, or heterosexual. Thompson said that Reno then put her hand on his shoulder and responded, "I'm only interested in virile men. That?s why I'm not attracted to you."[14][15] He filed a police report accusing her of battery for touching him
That's from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson_(attorney)

That guy sounds like a complete douche.

What is the deal with his two divorces? Did he remarry after divorcing the woman he had kids with? Or did he have an early "starter" marriage? Haha I don't know why I am so curious about that.

Radio and Podcasts / Re: Art Bell Bumper Music
March 02, 2009, 08:34:08 PM
I wish they would keep the bumper music on the podcasts. Sometimes the bumper music was the best part of the show. And I don't think George Noory was responsible for the music selections. Or is he?

I'm surprised they even allow peanut butter in schools now considering how many children seem to be allergic to it.

Are they still hawking that Royal Jelly crap on Coast to Coast? I haven't listened to the show on the radio for years so I get to skip the commercials. I remember thinking it was such a load of bullshit the first time I heard about it, but I decided to do a little research on it and wasn't surprised. I can't remember the links or cite my sources, so sorry about that, but basically royal jelly does absolutely nothing in terms of health for people, and can actually be quite harmful! They found even for people who generally don't get allergies, royal jelly can trigger extreme allergic response. Anaphylactic shock.. even death. It's incredibly irresponsible for George Noory to be touting the alleged health benefits of a product that can be quite dangerous.

I, too, am completely sick and tired of these types of shows. As well as the financial crisis shows. If I never hear Catherine Austin Fitts or God forbid Gerald Salente(?) again, it will be too soon. How many effing times can they do shows about these issues?? Not enough, apparently. I started listening in the first place because of the other-worldly, paranormal topics. If I want to hear doom and gloom I can tune into any regular news show or website. Coast to Coast AM was meant for the bizarre and unexplained. They really need to consider getting back to the original format.

As far as gang members raping women for initiation.. who's to say that's not exactly what is happening to all those dead young women found on the outskirts of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico? There have been hundreds of victims found beaten, raped, and murdered in the desert. These gang members probably kidnap them while they walk home, take them to abandoned locations, gang rape them, then torture them until the death to prove their manhood and ability to do anything for their gang family.
