What the hell happened to Renee Zellweger?

I think she isn't wearing any lipstick.  I'm not real sure.  Maybe you should check with area51.
;) Just yanking your chain, drone.   :P
Anyway, it just looks like a face without much makeup to me.

Off topic: I'll add to my earlier post, why? Why? Cos the beautiful people on here who have let me use their cars, homes and in a few cases inflatable sheep, rent free. I will always love you, in a  very human way.

Damn it, Yorkie!  Love you, too.  You can crash at my place anytime, but you have to start washing your own dirty dishes!!     ::)

I hate it when I am at a farmers' market and encounter a perfect storm of human congestion:  a clot of people conversing in the center of the aisle just as a couple with a double wide stroller, a guy with a walker, a matched-outfit couple with spaniels on leashes, and a signature gatherer all come together and phlegm up the space-time continuum!

I have bunch of rolls of the Tyvek tape used to seal weather barriers in house construction. Reckon I could make a make-shift Tyvek suit out of that? Sort of a new-age mummy to fight the Ebola? I figure to tape it on over a jumpsuit- lest it taking if off is painful and I would be hairless once I have one the battle with the Ebola.

I still have about 150 pounds of rice that I stored under my bed on advice of Alex Jones a while back.  It's all those healthy probiotics that make it move, right??   ::)

Pacific Rim was dumber than shit.  One dimensional characters, a plot thinner than Debbie Does Dallas, and an insult to the intelligence of anyone who has two brain cells banging together inside their skull.

However... if you go into this movie knowing it's NOT Shakespeare, but rather giant robots smashing the shit out of giant monsters, accompanied by some of the most glorious CGI you've yet seen, then Pacific Rim is everything you could hope for.  My kid loved it.

hahahahaha.  Perfect review.   8)

Wow.  Now I remember why I stay out of Politics.

I spent three of the last five evenings in two different ER's with family members. I'm so grateful that at two of them someone with the intelligence and compassion of Lt.Uhura was involved in the treatment decisions.  Was there also incompetence?  Yup, plenty.  That's why my mother, my two sisters, and I carry lists of treatments and medications for each other.  We ask questions, too.  (Not all at once.  One of us takes the lead at each visit.)
Everyone needs to accept some responsibility.  That's not politics.  That's life.

Btw, I live about an hour-and-a-half from the Bethesda hospital that's now treating one of the positive nurses from Dallas.  I'm still more worried about Hep C, influenza, and measles!!  I wonder how many of the vaccine "refusers" would inject themselves with horse shit if some herbalist said it would prevent Ebola.

Anti-fungal, also. Only thing that worked on my son's athlete's foot all through high school.  Love those football locker rooms.

Unless you go to a theater that allows one to drink (or still bold enough to risk a flask these days) there is no reason to show up to the "show times" listed- unless one is going near opening night. A waste of at least an half-hour it seems. So many trailers (ruin the movie for you) and ads. Prices go up, and still more ads and trailers!
ps: does anyone remember when books had ads? Usually cigarette ads and usually sorta cheap paperback novels or compilations like "Alfred Hitchcock:Presents" or crime novels or pseudo-novel/magazines like Ellery Queen? I'm wondering when (or if) EBooks will start having ads embedded in them?

Don't some e-book readers themselves come with advertising built in?  A trade-off for a lower price?
Yes, I remember those ads.  Er, I mean I remember older relatives talking about them.... ;)

yes beach is the cheapest and most effective for disinfecting. it is also extremely caustic, so be careful around some plastics and sensitive equipment. do not ever mix bleach and ammonia. if you live through it, you will be hating life for a few days.

My grandmother took a bucket of that mix into a closet one Spring for cleaning.  She, luckily, fell back "out" of the closet when she passed out.  She was really sick for over a week.  Hence my aversion to deep cleaning anything.   ::)

Well, aware of the mixing bleach/ammonia/vinegar etc but thanks for the reminder. (I know they are very diluted so a non-issue, I guess, but I've wondered what is happening in our sewer systems considering all the various household chemicals being washing down there mixing around....)

Isn't that why all those baby alligators grow into man-eating monsters after they're flushed?

I didn't follow the story. I am not a fan of Sarah and her politics. I don't think she is all that smart. But I also think her family, no matter how many white trash stories, should be off limits.

Which came first - reality TV or open "news" season on "celebrities"?

I find both are better served ignored.  Although that is becoming more and more difficult.  :(

Hmm really?  I'd love to know more.  I thought it was just (one of) my own crackpot speculations.  Although I'm not sure if the Nick Cage connection puts me on more solid footing or not.   :)

Can't remember if it's "Knowing" or "Next" - he can see 1 or 2 minutes into the future.
For some reason I always think I'm going to enjoy one of his movies.  Then I don't.  Kinda' like listening to a late night....oh, nevermind.... ::)

My theory's just as weird.  I wonder if maybe I've skipped ahead in time, but only like a second or two, so that the things happening around me actually happened a brief second ago so that's why I have a kind of recognition of them.

What if time was like a river, and had little crosscurrents and such, so that most the time you're just hurtling along down the center, but once in awhile you get, for a few seconds, thrust forward just a bit, until you drift back to where you were.

Hey, isn't this a Nick Cage movie??  I know I've heard this theory before.   :o

Hey I got it, let's do Raiders of the Lost Ark, but update it by swapping Indiana Jones for a vegan lesbian named Montana!  Get it?  It's fresh, yeah?  And instead of those mean Nazis will add some wacky transformer robots to the mix.

Take a screen shot of this post with the date.  When they make this movie they'll have to put "based on an idea by zeebo" in the credits.

Did you see the end episode? I was crying, but it was a happy cry. For a minute there it looked like it was going to be ugly sobs.

Oh, jeeeezzzzeeee. No, I'm at the end of season 2.
You're saying prepare myself for more emotional turmoil??
I can't believe I missed this on its original run.  I'm really enjoying it.  And all the actors are sooooo perfect for each character.
Even the rain.... ::)

Bless Me, Ultima (2013)

For once, Netflix recommended a winner. This easily is one of my favorite films from the past few years - a coming of age story set in 1944 in New Mexico about a young boy, Antonio, who is guided in the ways of healing and native spirituality by his curandera, an old woman who may or may not be a witch but who guides him as he sees good and evil, life and death, myth and reality. Beautiful understated film and I don't know how I managed to not read the novel which has been around since the 70s and is a classic.

This is about the fourth movie I've tried to watch on Netflix that wasn't there.  Do they have different movies in different parts of the country??  I'm on the the same coast as you are, UC.  My Netflix search comes back with no matches.  Nuts.

Absolutely no one comes close! Notorious is great and so is Charade .... hmmm, both are on Netflix, too.  ;)

Nope, I found Charade yesterday, but the Notorious listed is a comedy thing with Russell Peters. :(

I'm getting close to the end of season two of The Killing.  The rain, the rain....it IS a whole character on it's own.

Cary Grant mini binge

His Girl Friday(1940)  - perfect pairing with Rosalind Russell. smart, witty and very funny
I'm No Angel (1933) - with Mae West and still funny after all these years. Another brilliant pairing

Can't think of anyone ever coming close to Cary Grant.  :)
My favorite is still Notorious with Bergman and Rains....Mmmmmmm.
Think I'll take a break from The Killing(what a roller coaster) and find me some Cary.

Who ever thought watching a thoroughly distracted man driving an Infiniti Q50 down a HIGHWAY, weaving and screeching to a halt would sell these things?  Looks like Infiniti drivers are too important and busy to pay attention to mundane things like OTHER drivers and road conditions.

Funny thing is, I was on my way home yesterday and saw a big, fancy infiniti pull up behind an older model Buick, horn blaring, and turn in front of me with NO turn signal.  I had to slam on my own brakes to avoid hitting him.  "Hmm, I didn't see THAT coming."

Yeah, I made it through ep 3 before hitting the deep zzzzz's last night.  haha  The slow development is what I like.  And the music.  So haunting. Love it, too.
This time I checked to make sure I wouldn't have to pay for following seasons like Hannibal.  tee hee hee.

I'll be having plenty of free time around the end of the month, but I just might be done by then.     ;)

Finished the final season of 'The Killing' on Netflix. This is probably my favorite cop genre series since 'Hill Street Blues'. The ending was fitting for the characters. The series is worth a watch if you have patience for a crime that is spread out over an entire season before it's solved. For character writing, it's peerless.

Quote from: Chine on September 29, 2014, 08:59:40 PM
I did see the final season after it was released and love how they tied it up. So well done. There was chatter that they might continue it on for yet another season. Highly doubt they will. But, what a refreshing series for those if us who appreciate such quality. Both Enos and Kinnaman (sp?) worked so wonderfully off one another with incredible writing. Yet, miss when a series of such brilliance ends.

WHAT are you guys DOING to me??  Now I'm HOOKED on this one!!  Just watched the first two episodes.  I'd stay up half the night binging, but I'm exhausted. DAMN the two of you!!

Oh, yeah....THANKS      :) :) :)     I'm loving it.

Yorkshire Pud, you crack me up.

No, I don't blame the children for behaving like children, eyenoeyeno.  Placing blame rarely leads to anyone stepping up to claim responsibility in my experience.  The parents, however, are responsible, and I wish they would be as involved as you are in their child's development.

I grow tired of the screaming, no matter who it is.
Yeah, Little Hater, that song sums it up; gave me a good laugh too.  Thanks.
Guess it's time for me to get my own cane and wave it.  It's been a hell of a couple of weeks.

A child can't be a child anymore without having some "calm-down" pill shoved down his or her throat.  If you're gonna' have kids, PAY ATTENTION to them....Here's a secret.  Sometimes it's all they need.

Can't remember where I put my damn cane or I'd be a-wavin' it!!

Spent 53 minutes in the doctor's waiting room last night.  In this fairly packed waiting room was a rather large, makeup lathered, self-absorbed "lady" with two toddlers and a cell phone.  The children were loudly playing in the play area.  Every four to six minutes the "lady" would look up from her cell phone and yell at the kids.  "If you kids don't settle down, I'm gonna whump you!"  Once, she actually said, "Stop it. Mommy has to finish this for work."  She was PLAYING A GAME!  I could hear the whirly-whirly-ding-ding-dingy every time she scored.

When I finally got to see the doctor, he asked me if anything had happened recently that would make my blood pressure so high....   :o

Ahhhhhhhhh....
