Just so long as it's not Art & RCH co-hosting nightly. I love both of their shows but Art needs to stay 'Art'...

Art on Monday - Thursday and Hoagie all weekend long, I would certainly enjoy.  ;)

I was referring to a one off world shattering event. On a normal night it's just Art. :P

I miss the back and forth between Art and RCH. I'd like them to do a show together or even a segment.

Absolutely, doesn't have to be bad news, just something big. If we discovered alien life, I'd rather listen to Art cover it live than CNN.

This.

Perhaps even a crossover between MITD & OSOM.

I need to find the archive as I wasn't around to listen to those shows due to overseas work and had to do with CNN international in crappy hotel rooms (and bottles of Jim Beam trying to get thru staff and phone lines jammed or trying to call people back home) but I'll bet it was better, in the engaging way, than the OKC bombing stuff even? Again a horrible thing but, if it was like the previous crime, engaging and "riveting" radio because of the shock and theories and on-going live aspect. I hate "bleeds it leads" style of news but Art's wasn't that way but more caller, guest, speculation, etc.

I hope there aren't any other things like these (or natural disasters and so on where also good radio) but if they happen I hope Art will take local reporters, callers, theorists, etc in "live time." Better than revisionists/CT etc (though that has a place.)

The best thing about Art's current model of broadcast is that if, god forbid, something like 9/11 or some other event occurs Art can, if he wants, get on the air whenever he chooses and with social media he can quickly get the word out that he is broadcasting LIVE.

So if you haven't already followed Art on Facebook do so now or you will miss out. :P

I found Art's coverage of  the night of 911 a moving show.
At that time there was still shock and uncertainty as to what happened.  It was such a sad historical event and 15 years later, listening to that broadcast, brings it all back to reality.

Bugs and the crazy guy flying into area 51, any call from JC
are other great shows
bobo

Actually there was 4 nights in a row that are a must listen to. I remember listening live to those shows. They should definitely be listened to from an historical perspective.

Monday Night's Guest: Dr. Jeffrey Long - NDEs

http://artbell.com/mon-sep-21-dr-jeffrey-long/

QuoteJeffrey Long, M.D. is a leading near-death experience researcher. Dr. Long is a physician and radiation oncologist, which is the medical use of radiation to treat cancer. He is practicing in Houma, Louisiana. Dr. Long founded the Near Death Experience Research Foundation. Over 10 years of research went into Dr. Long’s study of over 1300 near-death experiences presented in his book Evidence of the Afterlife: The Science of Near-Death Experiences. This is by far the largest scientific study of near-death experiences ever presented.

Over 4000 NDE’s are currently posted on www.nderf.org, making it by far the largest number of NDE’s ever studied, and by far the largest number of NDE’s publicly accessible in the world. Portions of the www.nderf.org web site have been posted in over 20 different foreign languages. This is leading to increasing awareness that worldwide and across cultural boundaries we all share these types of experiences, and they are similar to a degree that is medically inexplicable.

Jaz, do you get to watch our national broadcast games?

ESPN here shows select games and there are programs that show highlights and wrap ups of other games.

The reason that I have an interest in the NFL is when I was growing up my dad and I used to watch a program (pre-cable days) late at night that aired on one of our stations that showed the game of the week and then did a wrap up of the others. I also used to follow the scores & results & tables (football, baseball and basketball) at the back of the sports section of our newspaper.

I'm all over the place with the teams I follow.

49ers, Lakers, Yankees and the Flyers.

jazz....despite my preferences, I am now 2nd in my pool because I bet against my favourites.  So....Bills vs. Pats...I hate the Pats...therefore, I put the money on them.  Makes no sense...but there you have it.

You should never not pick a team because you hate them.

Conversely what is y'alls situation when it comes to picking against your own team?

I know in some competitions that I have been in particularly with hardcore fans they will never pick against their team no matter how shit their team is. I guess team loyalty makes you crazy.

Back in the day... Last century... Won fantasy football Season/Superbowl against Hard core team owners, using my under 12yo kids making weekly picks.

I related a story of how the receptionist at a company I worked for won the competition twice in a row by picking the color of the teams jersey that she preferred.

I'm going to start going with my gut instead of over-thinking the matchups, that worked a lot better last week

That does not help me as you need to have some knowledge of the teams and games.

From my experience with a different code of football my gut has served me well in picking competitions. This year I got out to a lead of 7 which is huge in a nine game a week competition and once I got that lead I started picking based on the favorite (to be safe) and slowly whittled away that lead. It was my gut that got me the lead and going safe almost lost the competition for me. I went with my gut for the last 3 weeks and won by 4.

That's the opposite of how I choose my holiday destinations. Vive La France.

I think I might need to change my method of picking.

Next week I pick based on if I was in a sorority in college which QB would I prefer to be roofied by.

I thought the episode was brilliant. Are they filming it differently (ie: on a different medium). It had an old series feel to the filming of it. I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

I loved how they didn't modernize the look of (redacted) city scape. It had the look of a futuristic city from a 60s perspective.

If I was 20 years younger.................................  :o

Time for the Saturday post.
Tonight starting at 8PM Central until Midnight Central ( Thats 6 to 10pm Pacific for you guys in Rio Linda ) on http://ksyl.com is:  Art Bell: Somewhere in Time from June 14, 1996, when Art was joined by expert remote viewer Ed Dames who discusses remote viewing "Art's Parts" and why he believes it comes from a "time machine."
Ksyl has a live stream listed on their page and they can also be found on Tune-in.
If you are local to NW Louisiana or if the propagation is right, you can hear them on 970AM, I do not know if the show is in the archive. Jazmunda might have the info on that.

For those of you with a bent for nostalgia, from 6pm to 8pm Central, ksyl plays When Radio Was, with old radio shows from the time when "Radio was King!"

Remember "Theres Magic in the Static"

and now back to speculation.........

Only an hour and 12 minutes of this show exists in the archive so effectively this is new as when the mush mouth Noory stuff is edited out SIT is about 2 hours and 35 minutes.

Jennifer Lien of Star Trek Voyager probably won't be attending any Star Trek Conventions in the near future.  She has been charged with indecent exposure.  She also rammed a Sheriff's car.  And she's UGLY.

Wow! Kes was cute in the 90s. Neelix dodge a bullet on that one.

Yes, he's still quite bullish about his prospects of turning into a TV star on the back of his new boyfriend. Despite not being able to get Danheiser's fucking name right he still insists they are best buds and that phoning a sick man twenty times a day was a sign of their close friendship rather than borderline harassment.

Tommy needs caller ID.

Hey Jaz, I think you meant F-18, not F-16.

Did you ever see a RAAF F-111 do the flame thrower stunt?  They'd dump raw fuel, then ignite it by going to afterburner. Damned impressive, an evil looking flame as long as the jet itself roaring out the ass end of the a/c.  Very cool.

You are indeed right. They all look and sound the same to me. Those jets are so loud you can hear them coming from miles away. By the time you locate them in the sky you'd already be toast.

I'm not sure what type of jet it was but I saw that stunt at an air show here a couple of years ago.

Changing allegiances worked out so well for Falkie. We might all get a new pair of spectacles. I, for one, am sick of taping mine to my forehead.  8)
