I agree.  We don't know, other than through a confirmation or denial from Art.  The contents of the post seem to be more concerned with letting us know about his or her retention than Art's situation.  Additionally, a lawyer should be generally unconcerned with what anyone has to "suggest" as a course of action.  Yes, a little fishy.

This has a particularly fishy odor:

"Those of you who have ideas on how to proceed with the ground troops, i.e. BellGab itself, should feel free to send me a personal message with your ideas.  Videos, posting at certain sensitive websites, and other such actions, are all encouraged if done in a legal manner."

Producer Paul has tacitly implied this is legit, not least by refusing to refute it. He's had several days to do so. I conclude it is the real deal.

Someone comes into the site essentially trying to silence the Internet, and he posts Jay and Silent Bob. How could you not love that beautiful protest?!

I appreciate being appreciated, and I'm glad my videos brought a smile. :)

But for the record I was just having fun with the topic of the f-word, since it had come up. It wasn't meant as a dig at Samy. (I do understand where she's coming from, but I also agree that this forum may not be the best place for those with more tender sensibilities.)

Given Art's message on BellGab and his Facebook the other day it baffles me as to why Keith would pick up this blog article about the beginnings of the #FreeArtBell campaign. Doesn't that send a mixed message? Or is the story a plant to take the focus away from the actual genesis of the campaign?

Maybe I'm reading way too much into it. I do love a good conspiracy. There are no coincidences. Or so a moron once told me. ;)

MJ Sten, who runs the People Who Love Art Bell page on FB and who is a FB friend of mine, said that Keith told her that #freeartbell is fine anywhere except on the Sirius/XM FB page. Which makes NO sense to me.

The only thing that's missing from the summary, which I've repeatedly mentioned, is that #freeartbell originated *from* Art on the podcast, starting at the 53:48 mark, when asked what "we common folk" can do to help him. Art's response: "It's a good question. I'm not sure what that would be. I guess, I don't know, maybe go to Sirius and hold up signs that say 'Free Art Bell'?"

The tone of his response was humorous and I'm pretty sure it was an off-the-cuff, unpremeditated response. Certainly, I don't think he anticipated what it would turn into. Nevertheless, that was where it started. Just for the record.

Art was the catalyst.

On MV's podcast, when asked what "we common folk" could do, Art answered to the effect of, "I'm not sure, except maybe go to the Sirius offices holding up 'Free Art Bell' signs."

I immediately tweeted and FB'd #freeartbell and then when I got in to talk to him at the end of the podcast, mentioned that I had it out there.

Jen I think you were out of the gate at the same time with the first #freeartbell banner.

But it doesn't really matter. Art inspired it, and now he's asked us to stop.

I do NOT believe it means he's giving up or that he's changed his mind. On the contrary I am convinced he is still determined to fight. At the very least, I sure as hell *hope* he is, and that calling off the fan attack is now in the best interests of what he and his legal team are now working on. (Everyone seems to skip over the key phrase, "It will only make matters worse"...that to me indicates his legal campaign is ongoing.)

Regardless, I absolutely believe our voices were heard. How could they not have been?

In any case, for me, as much as I want Art back on the air in some form or fashion, it's less about that and more about the principle that he does not deserve to be stuck in an unfair contract. I hope once he IS freed (and I'm certain he will be) that he starts his streaming show at some point. But if he doesn't, so be it. At least he'll have the *freedom* to do so.

Which to me is the whole point.

Of course he would, and of course it will.

He has lawyered up, and if you have ever sued someone the first thing your lawyer will tell you is to shit up, that includes saber and cage rattling.
If we know he has lawyered up, so does SiriusXM. Talks may not have started but they have most likely been put on notice.
We have made our point, everyone at SiriusXM have has heard it loud and clear. It's now in the lawyers hands. Let them do their job.

This.

I think he needs to actually do that registration thing with his Twitter account so he gets the "officially verified" icon on it... he can post links to his announcements from that and there won't be much cause for arguing against them.

I got that message to him and Keith almost as soon as they started that account, but for whatever reason, they haven't acted on it.

It's been suggested that it may be on the advice of his attorney.  Don't know for sure, though.  It could be part of the STRATEGY.

As I've suggested, it could be because the point has been made and taken.

Art hasn't posted this message to his FaceBook page (yet), so I copy-pasted it there for now...have a couple of ladies who are accusing me of posting a "fake" message that "doesn't sound like the real Art Bell" and that they have "contacted him for confirmation".

Even though I've provided them with the direct link to this forum.

Ugh.

Art,

I will respect your wishes and I'm sure everyone else here will, also.

But I sincerely hope this does not mean that you are giving up on your efforts to free yourself from the NC, and that you are still seeking/consulting legal counsel.

All the best, as ever.

Very valid points.  Some of us may be campaigning for something that Art may not want.  I love Art, but he's on the fence regarding just about everything.  "Free Art" is a lot of fun but it may not be rooted in reality as Art may not care about the NC clause.

I woke up and am catching up so this is a few pages late and I'm sure others have already said it, but Art's the one who started the "Free Art Bell" thing on the Gabcast interview, and he's been supporting it and reposting it ever since on his FB.

I think it is despicable of Mongoose to post this trash, and re-raise an ugly issue that was litigated in Art's favor, for such transparent and trollish reasons.

Especially since Art addressed the truth behind this story, clearly and distinctly, in the first fifteen minutes of his first episode of Dark Matter.

if george has an ulterior motive around here, and that's IF he does (which, frankly, i doubt), then it would be to destroy the forum.  unlike the fantastic forum, we're not going going to start purging certain posts for the purpose of getting shout outs on a radio show.  thus, if anyone has concerns in this regard, forget it.  have some dip.

Just FYI, I wasn't implying that with my last post, and I agree re: George's motives. I believe they are transparently PR and ego based.
