Excellent GabCast MV.

Honestly you are born for radio...keep that kicking as I see you have a bright future in it, provided opportunity.

I was sad to hear about the experience with your Dad, Vincent and all the other ignored Art children and all who have had to navigate abandonment, abuse and worse. I do understand from my perspective as I also belong to that "club".

Truth is truth and whether it's Art or any other father, they should be called out for the bastard, unfeeling narcissists that they are/were.

Kudos to you, Vincent and to ALL who have had to navigate the journey of rejection, indifference, abandonment, abuse ( emotional, physical, sexual)  etc., or whatever the individual circumstance was and come out the other side with strength, empathy, insight and healing....and to pay the positive forward.

Nicely said Freyja and I am sorry you experienced that.

I do wonder, given the nature of her relationship with him and the comparably short amount of life time that it occupied, why she would have saved that letter for over forty years.  It was a very long time before he was famous.

It could simply be that some people save things like that forever.

I was amused that Art's use of "no question about it" went all the way back to the mid 70's at the least.
In fact the text of the letter is the same style of speech and phrasing that the public became familiar with as a result of his famous prominence as a radio personality.  If you read the letter with his voice it sounds like one of his on-air confessions or rants of which there were many examples on many occasions.

The other explanation could be that she faked the letter and did so based on his speech, and she included the "no question about it" because it is a phrase he used constantly.  I happen to be of the mind that she is genuine, though.

Insightful post, thanks. I agree with you. APD's can make a very strong impression and Art was a genius at attraction. So I could see her saving that. But we will never know for sure.

Not really.
Art Bell was bitter because C2C didn't fork out money didn't back him up in his lawsuit against Ted Gunderson.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=R2ome9SUTto
With the information that has recently come to light it does make one wonder if Premiere or whoever owned C2C at the time had good investigators and did their due diligence.

But that's simply speculation.

My nerves are shot. Caffeine is horribly bad for my nerve pain, so when I make my pot of coffee in the morning, I do 4 scoops of decaf, and 2 full caff. If I drink too much, my face hurts, I feel like shit the rest of the day, etc..   That said, I absolutely HATE not having a real cup of coffee. :P  I just have to chug a lot of water in between.

Not sure if you're aware of a podcast called True Crime Garage. They crack open a beer at the beginning of each episode, and they try a new beer from various craft breweries around the country.  People donate to the podcast and suggest beers for them to try. I think MV Liberace should do that for the GabCast. :P  Maybe with his own unique twist.  It might be a way to get more  $$ in, and would make it a bit more fun..

Not that your shows aren't already a hootenanny, Liberace.  ;D  (God, do I have to call you Liberace??)

I'm sorry you are in pain. Nerve pain can be some of the worst and it makes sense caffeine amplifies it for you. Good for you for finding a middle ground so you don't have to completely abandon your coffee. Life, it's all about compromises, sigh.

The craft beer is a great idea, could spin it with wines or singlemalt scotch. There are some amazing singlemalts out there right now. Although one drink tonight and I would wake up under my computer!

I just really wish they would get help and stop fucking with everyone around them.

Precisely, unfortunately I have a real ambivalent relationship with the drama they produce. It's fun to watch a train wreck and it's horrific to be related to it and I've been on both sides. So guilty pleasure, sigh.

No shit. I've pretty much given up.  So I'm trying to help my 16 yr old do a basic resume so she can get her first job. This should be interesting. :P

Meanwhile, I've officially sent Dave money for True Crime Tuesdays.  Woot!

I'm not a Brit (though my DNA says I *mostly* am- I'd probably get spat on if I told you what else I was  ::) ), but I watched the wedding today. IDGAF how lame that makes me.  :P  It's history in the making, and it's a son of Diana's. I probably won't watch another wedding again til William and/or Harry's kids get married, because I honestly don't care about any of the other Royals.  :-[

Still catching up on the last three days of MITD guests. FFS.  I don't know how or why you're all doing it. LOL

SO now that I've added literally nothing of value to the conversation...  ::)

I've begun to mainline coffee! I'm trying to postpone the inevitable crash until after Bellgab tonight. But who know I maybe hallucinating full on by then. Be ready to boot me if I lose it in chat tonight.

Praise Liberace

Me too!  All I can gather is HLW quit a second show: first, MITD, now LNITM....

Listen to tonight's GabCast and it should all make sense.  Big name guest too!  (Do you think Heather has the balls to come on?)

Telly
I maybe losing count but when she did that guest spot on UPRN wasn't she supposed to do her show there 5/14? If so quit count advances by +1.

One interesting thing if you listened to the two links posted of the start of LNM Dr Ira stated he spent 90 hours with Heather on the phone and now she has some things she has to do before she can broadcast. Sounds like Heather isn't helping herself at all. Simply playing victim. I hate Cluster B's.

I got up to heat up a bowl of chili for lunch and there were three more pages when I came back. Thank you for your service. It is a sight saver for me.

My guess is the only competition he's worried about is that for guests, not listeners.
Oh good point! Remember all the problems Art had on Sirius with C2C regarding guests?

Not sure if you all saw this but I really can’t wait. That’s right Heater you can’t just do whatever the fuck you want without consequences. What an idiot. She signed a legally binding document.
Art didn't mess with a non compete clause but Heater thinks she can?  ::)

Funny, Art can't even die without massive drama.

That was one of the issues I had with Art's restarts.  I would have enjoyed seeing more guests that weren't from the old C2C fraternity.  The chirping frog guy in Hawaii was fun.  At least Art didn't decide to turn his shows into Doc Wallet infomercials and number nuts.  I prefer the typical paranut and eccentric oddball for midnight madness.

It goes back to someone contacting a radio station manager, asking if they were going to carry MITD with Art, prior to it's start.  The manager replied by saying he believed they were airing Dave Noorie.  ;D

She promised she would have open lines about Art for an indefinite amount of nights until everyone feels closure, or whatever. But I think the audience has already come to terms with his death.

In Cluster B speak I think that translates to, "she feels closure," and at her rate of change that could be the 5th of never.

Thanks for the clear and concise summary.  This would make a good pinned post to warn newcomers of the inherent dangers in entering the falkieverse.

Hey All!
.........snip.......

Reading through these pages for the last 4 days has been a treat, the hate, the love, the drama, did I mention the hate?

We are listening, and reading and hearing your concerns and platitudes, both equally important.  There will be changes, some you will love, some may take some getting used to, for all of us.

......snip........

I enjoyed MiTD for the first time since Art Bell left last night, thank you. For myself it wasn't hatred toward Heather, simply frustration that she seemed to go from bad to worse with no idea how to improve.

No one  is an overnight success, Art Bell wasn't. It takes time and practice to learn to do anything.  With some realism she could have opted for a guest host and honed her craft on the weekends and filled in, paid her dues and slowly re-emerged. But she seemed to lack that realistic insight. Hence the 'cruelty', that in my opinion, she brought upon herself.

If 'radio' is really in her blood hopefully she starts her own show and slowly builds that skill-set. I wish her the best for as frustrating as she was to listen to.

I completely agree. KR gave her every opportunity to communicate a solution with him, be it her returning sooner or choosing a guest host. She chose this, which makes me think if she was orchestrating this process for some reason. It gave her a way out but also allowed her to play the victim to her mindless followers.

Noory and Tommy must be shitting themselves.

Schrader is real competition for George.  On average, Schrader does a better show than George.  No more phoning it in and half-assing the 100th interview with the numbers lady anymore....

I'm guessing MITD will pick up some radio stations for sure.

This is going to be fun to watch as well as listen to!

The whole "no guest" thing was ridiculous and I can't see the point of it.  Then expecting everyone to just do nothing for an indeterminate amount of time.  Not only that but she went on to also attack others in the industry and then to incite her fans to attack other hosts and her own business partners.
It seemed like she was begging to be fired.

I was listening to the Art of Talk audio book last night.

There was a long section about women and wives.  He talked extensively about the wife before Ramona whom
he said was a nice person but bored him to death because there was no intellectual connection.  He said it was
of utmost importantance that he have someone to share ideas, thoughts, etc with and without that he withers up
like a flower without water.

For those who haven't heard it and will hear it tonight, it will be easy to come to the speculative conclusion that Heather was his intellectually exciting woman and Airyn was his housewife.  He lays it all out in his book.
^^ this and with Airyn being a pragmatist acceptance of the reality but not necessarily the financial drain from her and her progeny

Art also said Heather is getting better every day. He didn't tell us details about his finances, or percentage of ownership. He avoided telling his worth, KNYE income and worth, his percentage ownership of his old show C2C before PremRat bought it, so on and so forth. He even said he didn't own C2C when it got sold to PremRat. Reading the PDF that was posted showed he owned a small part of the company before PremRat bought the show. With Art dead if he had any ownership in DMDN & MitD... his will pending along with probate... Uggg. Point being Art didn't always disclose all his business and finance dealings with the world. Nor should he.

I assume Queef does own DMDN. Probably the only way Keith would deal with Art. You also assume that sole ownership is in place with MitD, it could be a percentage deal among several parties. We don't know. Rights to broadcast/rebroadcast a show and ownership of said show, can be 2 very different things. All of which none of us know the contractual details. Stuffs gonna get messy.
