It's honestly just about the only thing that HASN'T happened in these last few years.

Off the wall (and completely uneducated) guess for what today's big news could be - SiriusXM will carry Midnight in the Desert.

Seriously, reading about Radionomy and that sounds like the PERFECT platform for Art to be using.

Ok something in the wind. Noory tweeting

Coast to Coast AM ‏@coasttocoastam 13m13 minutes ago

GN: Soon something wonderful and BIG is about to happen...can't say yet.

Maybe he's going to the Alchemy Event?  :P

I posted this awhile back after Noory apparently said something similar on-air (and said that he emailed Art)...I think Premrat/Coast is going to try to sabotage Midnight in the Desert by opening up the Coast vault on Streamlink - basically, putting up all of Art's old shows in perfect quality.

Just a guess, but what else could it really be? Nothing Noory could do is "big," and Art sure as hell isn't coming back to Coast.

Or it could be Dave getting an actually TV deal for his shitty Beyond Belief online crap, I guess.

So...the coast twitter just posted this from Noory.

GN: Soon something wonderful and BIG is about to happen...can't say yet.

Any ideas? I'm sticking to my prediction that Coast is going to try to sabotage Art's new show by putting up the entire archive of old Coast shows on their Streamlink thing or whatever the hell they call it now.

One thing that I really want to hear is Art's read-through of the "news of the day," both mainstream and seriously out-there stuff. That was always one of the best parts of Art-era Coast, and no one did better than him. The lack of that on the show was pretty much my only complaint about Dark Matter.

yeah, i think there's something nice about a physical radio that just sits in one convenient location and simply works when you push a button while walking by.

Definitely - I'm kind of obsessed with them, actually. I have two of the older Grace models, a Logitech UE Smart Radio, and the SiriusXM TTR1. Being a radio geek, I definitely get enjoyment from having dedicated radio devices rather than just relying on my phone for audio.

Midnight in the Desert is on the way! It is official now, Starting in late July we will begin streaming a full show from Mon-Fri 9PM- 12AM P.T. It will come to you Worldwide on the Internet in 64Kbps Stereo on Tune In which has a free app available for download right now.

Keith and myself have come to a agreement and the main Studio gear has been ordered. There is a great deal of work ahead and all of you who are friends and fans will have to help out when the time comes by spreading the word far and wide.

Wanna Take a Ride?

Mr. Noorie, the undistinguished host of Coast.

While we're waiting for any news, here is a completely uneducated thought that I had RE: Dave emailing Art awhile back:

WHAT IF Dave was emailing Art to let him know that Coast/Premrat was finally pulling the trigger on offering the entire catalog of Art's Coast shows as part of Streamlink or whatever the hell they call it now. Dave did mention something a few weeks ago about "something exciting" happening in June or July, right?

I'm probably completely wrong, but I wonder if the pieces fit.

Let's hope the coin toss is "heads for doing MITD on their own, tails for doing MITD with their partner"...don't even want to think about the other possibility.

I'd be willing to pay $ 20. That's how much * I * miss Art's presence on thae air.

Somehow I'm guessing that if I said I'd pay $500k/month, you would have said you'd pay $1million.

From Art's most recent BookFace post the live show via TuneIn will be free, but the recording and "Wormhole" will cost $5/mo.

So the questions that remain:
1. TuneIn App only? No web streaming through Keith's online network thing?
2. What the heck is the "Wormhole"??
3. No re-broadcasts on Keith's network thing the following day?

1) Keith's online network thing streams on TuneIn Radio. TuneIn is simply an app that acts as an aggregator for tens of thousands of online radio streams. By far the best radio app around.
2) Wormhole is fast blast.
3) Who knows?

Not sure if the relationship is still there but Bob Crane/CCrane would be crazy not to jump on board - their CC Wifi 2 would be the PERFECT thing to advertise on the show.

Non-listers are left to wonder, I guess. Although I can't imagine the fact that it had to be PM'd rather than posted on the board is a good sign as to the status of a deal getting done.

It's a good thing Dave doesn't check the board anymore - not being on the PM list would kill him.

I wish I could tell you guys and gals the deal but I cant. I can tell you though that at the moment it is VERY frustrating and I do have a break point where I will say I am done and we gave it our best try and came at this deal in every way we could and it just was not going to work out.

It's not about money because it is a labor of love however the deal has to make sense. I will promise this, if it does not work out or if I just throw up my hands and say no more (close now) I will come on here and share with you all what went on.

Art

Totally understandable. Hopefully it doesn't come to that, though. Keith and the lawyer you said he has working on this should be able to sort through all the garbage from the other side. From what you are saying, it sounds like there is real question about whether your potential partner wants to actually make a deal. It seems like the terms you are looking for are pretty clear. Fingers crossed that a deal gets done.

Not true, Keith knows what he is doing plus has a Lawyer working with him.

Good to hear, Art. Go with the people you trust. Only way to get a deal that you can live with.

Art, one other quick thing - hang out with your cats as much as possible if you are feeling super-stressed. Seriously - I deal with really bad anxiety and just having my cat near me/laying on my lap is the ultimate stress reducer.

I agree about the up and down and that is twisting me into Hamburber, if you think this board goes up and down I just can't handle any more of this. So at this point I am pulling away until there is some resolution. I really don't want to talk about it but it is effecting my health....

Art

Sounds like a good plan, Art. Unplug from the daily minutia of the negotiations and just enjoy your life. What will be, will be. We've got your back either way.

I know Art wants his music... but I think it's illogical for him to be so stuck on playing music. We don't listen for his taste in music -- we listen for ART and his interviewing talent. THAT's what makes his show unique. Music can be heard damn near anywhere... but WHERE ELSE can you hear ART BELL's TALENT??

Hell ART - just use the thunderclaps and some generic production music for intros and bumpers and get on with the show!!!

Art has made it clear he is not doing the show without his music. End of story. Full stop. It is pretty clear that it is either going to happen or not happen within those parameters. He's earned that right, obviously, so let's just hope it all works out.

Well we haggled over the terms for a Month! Now that that is done I thought they would just take the agreed apon terms and convert it into a Contract, but I am willing to bet that the Comtract comes back with God knows what in it. I hope I am wrong but usually Iam right.

I feel like that lady in the back of the car doing 35 MPH who simply says hey Iam 85 Years old, let's go.

Art

Ugh, yeah I can definitely see how that would suck. Hopefully, the delay is just procedural and not the result of them going back on the already-agreed upon terms in any substantive way. If they do that, then yeah, probably not the best people to partner with. Knocking on wood while keeping my fingers crossed!

Really hoping that everyone - us, Art, Art's potential Midnight in the Desert partners - can stay calm and not torpedo the whole thing if the contract comes back a little wonky. As much as lawyers are awful - and oh my god are they awful - this is the game that has to be played to get stuff done in 2015. I think we can call agree that the endgame - Art having an awesome new show that will make us all forget about Dave - is a worthwhile-enough endeavor to put up with some lawyery bullshit.

Fingers crossed.

For your listening pleasure, a new GNS compilation.

That clip of Dave basically saying he hopes ISIS is already in America is one of the most awkward, uncomfortable pieces of audio I have ever heard. Pretty much "Peak Dave" material,
