The show is still good, but IMHO it was better before for a couple reasons.  First, I think the content has been dumbed-down since the show hooked up with GCN.  By "dumbed-down", I mean that when a previous guest returns to the new show, much of the same material is re-hashed to bring the new audience up to speed before any new topics can be addressed.  The new show seems geared to a less knowledgeable audience.  Secondly, it was just much more enjoyable to listen to when there wasn't as much ad time as there is show time.  However, that is the price paid to get the show out to a wider audience, no doubt.

I have all the shows in my iTunes library and I still go back and listen to the old stuff occasionally.  There are some classics in there.

Since all networked radio shows in the U.S. have essentially the same number of ads we do, I wonder why people seem surprised. Oh well. Also, in exchange for adding the ads, we've also increased the amount of "talk" time as well.

No, we're not dumbing down anything. When I ask a guest to recap a few matters, I have to be aware of the fact that many listeners haven't heard all of the over 270 episodes, or even a small portion. We cannot avoid this fact. Otherwise, loads of listeners would just zone out. It's a juggling match.

Curious how silly stories get started. We've always promised that The Paracast will be free, as will access to our forums.

Where things might have gotten confused (although I've been very clear about it) is that we are also considering a premium service with extra forum features, extra interviews (including videos), but I have said on a number of occasions that we'll never charge for the show itself. Besides, The Paracast is syndicated, which means we're on a network.

As to our former co-host, there's a huge difference between what went on before and now. Our new co-host, Christopher O'Brien, is an experienced field investigator and author of several books on the paranormal. Unlike his predecessor, he is not a performance artist.

To continue; No, we do not rehash previous shows. Every single show is new from the ground up. We've never run a repeat since going on the air in February, 2006. Since joining the GCN network, we've continued to feature many new guests, along with return appearances from guests who came on earlier, but have new material to present.

As to the ads: All networked radio shows have ads. We don't control what the network provides. But since you can get a free downloadable version of the show (without paying a premium price, as you do with certain other shows), you can fast forward through the ads you don't want to hear.

Thanks for listening.

Peace,
