So I've seen all kinds of conspiratorial nonsense out there about what our government is considering to be major concerns, and what our long/short term plans are. I know that some of you are set in your ways and no actual informational will change your minds, but, I just wanted to point you guys and gals towards the documents which we use when considering future policy and where the administration is going. This of course is all on the declassified level and is available to the public, though very few people actually read these publications.
The NSS (National Security Strategy) is a very serious outlining of where the administration wants to go and what they consider to be the major threats to national security. There are more detailed documents which lay out strategy (which are classified) but on the whole the NSS is the outline.
Global Trends 20XX is published every so often and projects what will be future threats and opportunities based on current trends. This document is formulated by professionals in a variety of fields and many of their past Trends have proven to have panned out. The Global Trends report presents the best possible trends, somewhat neutral trends, and the worst possible trends. These trends all modify potential "game changers". If you're actually willing to look over this document just read the first twenty pages or so as it touches on all of the trends and game changers.
