Politics / SOTU - 2018
January 26, 2018, 11:49:16 PM
This is going to be a classic counterpoint to the SOTU

Maxine Waters on BET

I always have my doubts about this website, but it might be worth looking into since this coincides with the Antifa protests.

Has anyone seen this chemical fire on the news?

Politics / Catalonia- Independence?

Article claims they will separate by the end of the week. How is this handled in the days of the EU?

Politics / Meanwhile in Texas...
May 01, 2017, 03:42:03 PM
I figured there is always something going on in Texas and we needed our own thread.

There are wacky politics, lots of illegals, diminishing number of rednecks, lots of wild hogs, lots of stupid folk, lots of deer, ducks and geese galore in the winter, decent fishing and an ever increasing flock of SJWs trying to escape the housing prices and taxes in California. They ruined California, so now they want to ruin Texas.

So maybe albrecht and I can keep this thread populated with stuff.
Politics / UT stabbing 1 dead 3 wounded

Most news articles didn't list a description of the attacker even though he was tackled at the scene of the crime and arrested.

Albrecht, any word on motive?

Politics / Voter fraud - 2016
November 03, 2016, 02:30:32 PM
What the hell. Figured I would start a thread to collect articles.

I think I witnessed voted fraud today in Texas. Guy showed up behind me with a Texas voter registration card applied for exactly 30 days before the election but he had an Illinois Drivers license and was driving a car with Missouri plates. The poll watchers took notes.

Here is one from California

Politics / Suicide by cop in San Diego?

Politics / Houston SW side shooting

This is really getting bizarre. The lawyer was Indian (dot) and played guitar in a 2bit rock and roll cover band.

Not sure he was shooting to kill. 9 injured. He is dead from a shootout with the cops.

Turns out he was dressed in a Nazi uniform and they found all kinds of Nazi paraphernalia in his apartment.

None of his family and/or friends had a clue when he started getting this stuff or why he would have acted like this. I guess he was despondent over the collapse of his law firm.

To me, it sounds like aggravated suicide by cop.

Evidently the Allies had sequestered several German scientists and had hidden recording devices in their living quarters.

After the first atomic bomb was dropped, the Allies told the German scientists and then listened to monitor their reactions. This is a transcript which documents their reactions. Very interesting range of emotions and reactions.

Random Topics / Want to own a newspaper in Vermont?
August 25, 2016, 04:17:44 PM
Contest being held by a small community newspaper that was started in the 1800's. They had to extend the date because they didn't get 700 entrants.

Write a 400 word essay following their rules, pay $175, and if you are selected as the winner, you get the building and the business. In Vermont.

State sponsored hack attempt detected on iPhone. Apple responds immediately to close 3 Vulnerabilities. They haven't pushed it yet, but you can pull it by doing a "Check for Updates" to get version 9.3.5.

p.s. You can only download it when connected to wifi
Politics / Assassination attempt on Merkel FOILED
August 25, 2016, 03:57:25 PM
No one injured, armed suspect arrested after trying to enter Merkel's motorcade in a 4x4  while in Prague.

After failing to get a guilty verdict on any of the charges in the bench trials of the first 3 police officers, charges have been dropped against the remaining 3 that were being prosecuted. Good thing BLM is in Philly. They can drive down to Baltimore next.

Time for the Attorney General to resign. But that won't happen.

This is unforgivable if there are no database backups. 10 years of Inspector General Case Files???

You have to be kidding me.

Several people are discussing starting a Classic Movie Discussion Thread.

Lots of ideas floating around, so I started this thread to see what it morphs into.

21st Century Man, TigerLily, VoteQuimby, albrecht, et al... Y'all's turn.

...keep them doggies Rollin.  Ooops. That was a classic TV show.

This is a really cool article about a Canadian teen that studied the location of known Mayan cities and their relationship to major constellations. He found one star in a constellation that didn't correspond to a known city. It appears that there is a hidden, lost city right where he predicted one should be. I am humbled.

I am on a quest to help Mr. Fidget restore his dignity and to help him move to Eugene, Oregon so that he can begin producing fidgets and some other artwork that he has envisioned.

Mr. Fidget is currently homeless in LA, but is doing everything within his power to get back on his feet and become a productive member of society in Eugene, Oregon.

He has faced numerous challenges, including having his to storage units impounded so he has been unable to get his fidget tools and materials, as well as some of his artwork. I know that a few of you may have been burned back 17 years ago when he didn't deliver, but I say let sleeping dogs lie.

Mr. Fidget now has access to his storage units and can begin making fidgets again. He has some business leads that may allow him to finally make ends meet and get up to Eugene, Or to open up his studio.

Mr. Fidget started a gofundme page some months back and only raised a total of $80. None of the donations were from BellGabbers.

Mr. Fidget also has a cash.me account that will get him the money quicker than the gofundme account, and they don't take a percentage. If you would rather donate there, contact Mr. Fidget and I am sure he will be willing to provide it.

I have had phone conversations with Mr. Fidget, and he has a plan. I put my money where my mouth is and made a donation to his cash.me account.

I am asking all of you to consider doing the same. $2, $5, $10 or $20 will go a long way to helping a homeless person pursue his dream of having an art studio in Eugene, Oregon. I have never seen Oregon, so if this becomes a reality, I may just have to make a road trip.

Skip a Starbucks and help a starving artist.

If you use the cash.me account, all it takes is two minutes and a debit card.  I know of at least one other BellGabber I have contacted that has made a generous donation since I started this quest.

It is not very often that we get to be part of making a dream come through. Please consider this request and follow your heart
