An old thread, but I'm glad its here.  I've spent the last week "binging" this odd creation from across the pond, and I like it.

I've recently been listening to some of this Batchelor guy's show, and amazed at how he doesn't just read the guest's books, he devours them like nobody I ever heard.  So unlike some moron idiot clown fool person we know.  Appropriate.  And cool.

Episode 6, The Caretaker.  I was disappointed that Clara said "no" when asked by Pink whether she loved the Doctor.  Broke my heart.  An ok episode.  A tad rushed.  I never really understood what that alien was all about.  Again with the "heaven" at the end.  Moffat better tie this all up good.

So who is this chick?

Shucks.  You guys are great, and while "listen" wasn't great, it was damn good.  The best episode of the 8th season so far.  Nice twist at the end.  A slight tang of jealousy as Clara kissed that nerd Pink (dump him, for the love of God, dump him).  I enjoyed the hug Clara gave the Doctor.  It seems "maniac" suits him well.

Realizing that the Matt Smith era has raised the bar, I really want to give my loyalty and devotion to the 12th Doctor.  But what happened to the writing?  Did the Doctor get back his sonic screw driver from the sheriff of Nottingham (season 8, episode 3 "Robot of Sherwood') or not?  What's with all the snappy juvenile retorts?  Where is the emotion?  What's with the crappy editing?  Where is David Moffit?  Who's in charge over there?  Capaldi has potential.  Let’s do this right.

So I'm listening to the show (yeah, still listening, just can't bring myself to write another word about el morono idioticus) when I hear during the news break that Tommy Ramone has died.  Not my favorite Ramone, but hey, he's a Ramone.   I get home and read an article about it and I find out that Johnny had also died back in 2004.  I knew that Joey and Dee Dee had kicked the can, but how far up my butt my head must have been not to know Johnny had died?  I learned my first (and last) three chords on a cheap no named electric crap guitar because of these goons and they are gone.  No more Ramones on this earth.  Sadness.

I didn't hear that tonight, but he definitely said it a few nights back.  I let him sly.  In his defense I can see where he might think that a land dispute involving cows...and grass...would...somehow...eh...actually I can't defend it at all.  But I like listening to tech guy, Lauren Weinstein.  He had almost an hour to talk about kill switches and windows xp.  I like fracking too, as did Wall Street Journal guy, Russell Gold, but the caller who accused George of presenting only one side of the story had a point.  George said he had an anti-oil guy on back in October.  Six months ago.  So there.  And it only took 2 1/2 hours for George to ask Gold about those little earthquakes.  And there were more than a few moments of dead air while Gold wondered if he was being interviewed by and adult.  "The energy boom, is it a good or bad thing?"  And George anounced the death of another c2c guest whose name I don't recall.  Seven (according to George) in a year's time.

Here it is:  http://www.maxkeiser.com/2014/04/mike-ruppert-rip/.  I haven't heard the whole thing.  I am listening to it as I write.  He sounds disillusioned.   How long before George develops (as much as his mind can develop something) a conspiracy theory on c2c guest dying off?  As much as I'm bored with George's health segments I found myself interested what Kelly Turner was saying about cancer.  Rob MacGregor and Bruce Gernon on what may have happened to flight 370.  Caught up in an "electronic fog"?  Pulled into the exhaust vents of a very large ufo? "Nobody knows anything about this flight," said George, "so I guess we can conclude just about anything."  He also graced us with: "When a portal opens up and something crashes, you know there’s something wrong."  Sigh.  I wanted to know more about MacGregor's work with George Lucas on the Indiana Jones flicks.  And about Arthur C. Clark's tv show(?).  Foolish me.

I just knew Mike Bara (who's not convinced that time slows down as you approach the speed of light) was talking about you when mentioned somebody who's "name he didn't want mention" (or something along those lines).  Good work, astroguy.  Somebody has to keep these clowns straight, although they do have a slight entertainment value.  I thought the idea of an all Mars show was cool.  Besides Bara, we also had  Dr. John Brandenburg, George J. Haas, J.P. Levasseur, and Michael E. Salla speculating on ancient life on the red planet and how it may have met its demise.  But why no straight science guy in the lineup, like Robert Zimmerman?  Heck, even Hoagland (sorely missed, especially when they got to talking about Cydonia) can get off the wackiness and focus on the hard science.  Among the caller highlights was the lady who's got a picture of a whole bunch of people and rowboats on Mars, a guy named Johnny Danger that Haas and Levasseur went nuts over, and somebody named Tim, who has been getting shuttled by aliens to Mars and back since he was a kid.  George gave him about 6 seconds, to which Michael Salla said "Tim, if you're still listening, I'd like to hear your story." Because George ain't got no time for that.  Because he's the host of c2c.  A show about the unusual.  Because George can't wait to go home and "jump" into his sleep number bed.

I only caught the last part of their discussion so I may not know of which I speak. sNoory didn't just use a tragic event of school knife attacks to turn it into a shameless and inappropriate advertisement for his firearms lust, by having his straight-shootin' sidekick John Lott on, did he?
Yep.  He sure did.  Actually I think the point of that segment was to underscore that it is the darkness in our souls that causes rampages and not the weapons available.  Although I suppose if the kid had a grenade launcher things may have been a bit worst.  Peter Breggin  was also on to make sense of the senseless.  Thank you, Craig Nelson, for having such a bright and cheerful attitude about things like Chernobyl and Fukushima, and nuke plants in general, and foiling George's every attempt at fear mongering.  What is this French fusion thing?   I love it when George feigns familiarity with a movie he's never seen ("It's a classic!").  And with all due respect to Barbara Hand Clow, did we need another show on astrology?

I was expecting a bundle of nerves, with lots of dead air, but this hottie was smooth and confident and did a fine job and I've dropped her a line telling her so.  Shame on Eldon Taylor for, at times, being what I sensed was a bit condescending to Garr, and for not shutting his trap long enough to see if the host may possibly have a question.  I don't even know what the guy was talking about.  Spirit medium, John Holland, was a gentleman, as most of these medium guys seem to be.  Maybe because they know there's a hell.  I'm gonna drop Eldon a line reminding him of such.  I hope Garr comes back.  There's room for her.

Similarly, he was happy to throw out names of authors for his guest to discuss, like H G Wells, but was unable to contribute anything at all to the discussion, having clearly never read any of Wells' novels. When a caller asked the guest for his top 5 'best' or 'favourite' Sci-Fi novels, George was clearly Googling away and started offering titles, not a single one of which he was able to comment on...

He's also seems unable to summarize a discussion.  He'll go to a break with "we'll be right back with [name of guest] talking about [name of book]." I can see doing that on the intro, but after an hour and a half he should be able elaborate somewhat.  But then again we be talking about George.

But remember, George is not a fear monger.  Because he said so.  And even though pray for money guy James Paris reminded me of Kevin Trudeau, I really liked his Eddie Henderson jazz concert story even though George interrupted it about 100 times.

I'll bet George really liked Dr. Roger Leir and wanted to do right by him and give him a nice little tribute, but George ain't good at doing things right.  Instead we got the standard Noory/Danheiser conveyor belt of wham bam say something nice your time is up thank you bye bye treatment that was as cold as the body they were eulogizing.  Would it have been difficult to find out what Leir's favorite songs were and using them as bumper?  Could they not find a family member to speak a few words?  As of this writing the c2c website hasn't posted who all was on the show (and they just might not do it at all since they got a big fancy "special event" today) but from off the top of my head we had George Knapp, Whitley Strieber, L.A. Marzulli, Rob Simone, some kid who's waking a movie on Leir, Mike Bara (I think), and some other folks I can't recall.  Somebody mentioned that Leir played the organ, and I thought that was interesting because I hadn't known that because in spite of the many interviews George has conducted with Leir those stupid little index cards don't allow you get to really know who these guest are beyond the scam.  Pity.  One hour of open lines (George sure was rushing them through), last hour a replay, and Howard Bloom is hearing the thunder of a world war coming.

Classic George doing science.  It took about an hour for Jeffery Bennett to start shortening his answers realizing this was not going to be a conversation.  I would have been happy (and damned impressed) if George had simply asked him what the difference was between "general" and "special" relativity.  I'm not sure what Craig Hulet was trying to say about Diego Garcia and the missing plane, but its the second time I've heard that base mentioned in relation to the mystery.  Odd website I learned about during the show: Tomnod  http://www.tomnod.com/nod/

I think every one of George's "missing plane" guest (tonight it was  David Soucie) have clearly stated to him that they'd rather work with the facts and not speculate.   Alas, George shall not waiver. "Let’s make a couple more assumptions..."  Fine.  Knock yourself out.  I wanted to hear more about exactly what the internet is (what's a server?  What does it mean?) with Lauren Weinstein, but George just wants someone to explain to him how Facebook and Snap Chat make money, because, you know, George is so unfamiliar with advertising.  The gods were space aliens with Rev. Michael J.S. Carter, who spoke clearly and had a very nice phone connection. The reason George doesn't comment on the music is because he cares nothing about it.  Kudos to the lady who never interneted, and who prefers "interacting with people on a human level."   Good luck with that.  And pack a gun.

No harmness from Robb Riggs and Tom Burnette, on the undulations of the southern bigfoots who evidently ain't as noble and stately as their northwestern counterparts, among other things.  I wanted to hear more about congressional shenanigans from Fair Tax guy, Bill Spillane.  Why would anybody spend money on a new L.A. studio for George?  What plans do they have for their little sock puppet?  What's "beyond" about those tangerines?  Was I high, or did George spend an inordinate amount of time talking about his upcoming "events"?  How many avatars is Seraphim gonna go through?  Why would anybody request more of that stupid ufo phil song?  What did George mean when he said the weekend host "do their own little thing"?  Is staying awake and attempting to conduct a better than half ass interview a "little thing"?  Did George really know what that nuclear fusion call was all about, or can stringing together meaningless gibberish with just the right intonation get him through anything?  And what excactly was all that about the Norwegians?

So . . . George wanted to join the CIA...

I thought guest Patrick Tucker would be bad, but he is actually really good...
Not a bad show at all.  Brian Kannard on John Steinbeck being a spy.  Any hope that George had of joining the CIA would have ended at the "intelligence" part of the job.  I suppose that was too easy.  And I'm sure there's a rule somewhere stating that after a certain amount of time has passed you don't have to place "the late" before a dead man's name.  Ok, George?  Patrick Tucker, sounding like a young, not so nervous, Woody Allen, was cool too.  I think he's the only guy I've heard on c2c who doesn't think the dreaded EMP would be the grand disaster that George and his minions have lectured us about (essentially he believes we would recover before we went "mad max" -  the worst part being the actual radiation from the blast), and who thinks such a weapon would come in handy in the event a super computer takes over the world.  Hmmm...I hate it when super computers take over the world.
