I'd love to but a bit afraid of what I might find.  Agree with your opinion on Barbara, she's one of my top 5 Art guests bar-none. 

It's a topic I enjoy, but damn near impossible to figure out any meaning to them w/out the power of suggestion.  I can never figure out what's being said, don't know how GIS comes up with their translations, honestly.  I'd love to catch something unexplained though.

I only took a 30 hr adult ed class, so I'm pretty far from being an electrician.    It's easy to forget it all when you don't do any wiring for awhile.  I only learned some basics about 3 phase, but I do remember one type gives you an inconsistent voltage across the lugs 208V-110V, and another is normal 240V-120V.

I can't even recall seeing receptacles or switches rated for Al, but I never really looked that closely.  I think you'd still have to inspect your connections more often whether or not they were all matched for aluminum.  I've read though, there are other alloys for aluminum that perform more like copper though it's not something I worked with.

Those are all good reasons.  Among other things copper is more stable (doesn't expand/contract like aluminum, adds to home value, requires less maintenance over time (wear and tear) and, it's smaller and easier to work with for residential jobs.  Copper can be a bitch to work with though for bigger gauges as anyone who's wired a 30+ amp circuit knows.  I can also remember measuring out 200 amp aluminum felt like wrangling a big ass snake.

I don't remember anything specific about boxes but based on what I've seen copper still costs more for equivalent wire gauges based on current capacity.  You'll have corrosion when joining Cu & Al unless you use Ox-gard.

Indeed.  I worked in the electrical dept. of a hardware store, 100-200 Amp Service Entrance Wire was all Aluminum.  You will also notice "AlCu" stamped on circuit breakers, etc meaning it's compatible with Aluminum or Copper wire.
