Grain of salt anyone?
For me it's the entire shaker...
Either way, this was tasteless of Lear, IMO

When you think that pretty much happened over 3 days it was an amazing chunk of wtfness packed into a short amount of time.

Noory probably considers this new "added feature" for coast insiders a "tribute" to Art...

Yep, but maybe/hopefully they find some missing tapes or shows?

I can't believe Savage is actually on the radio today. He's broadcasting from D.C. where he's a guest at the White House for the Macron state dinner. He never resists an opportunity to take the day off.
Savage and Bell are the same age and a lot alike. I recently learned of Savage's remarks about Bell and the ensuing lawsuit. I'm surprised Savage didn't just apologize.
Savage seems to hate what he does most days. He longs to have a less-political format. He wants to talk about what he enjoys, just like Art, and a lot of their interests overlap. But Savage is such an angry SOB so much of the time that he could never develop a similar rapport with callers. Both exuded ego but Savage's often manifests in pretty uncomfortable radio.

IMHO, Knapp and Punnett are close but not quite Art. Definately the same ballpark. I think John B. Wells was in there at one time before he went way off the deep end...I've never been able to listen to Lisa Garr so I don't know if she's good or not. I just can't stand her voice.
Noory, if anything, has gone downhill. His early program were quite good when he was trying to earn rights to the fulltime gig; listen to his interview with 'Bishop' Sean Manchester. Noory is actively listening and asking good questions. Now, he phones it in....

We're all meeting up outside the gates in Pahrump, with Art Bell shirts, stiff drinks, and somebody in a van blasting the Pointer Sisters. He's bound to show up after dark, one way another. Or at least the cops will.

I always thought the 'ouija' story didn't exist. I feel like it was just something Art used to spin up a mystery for his listeners. Radio is "theater of the mind" after all.

As I’ve said before, I worked in broadcasting. Tape back then cost a good bit of money to buy and required a lot of space to store. Television, in which I worked, is more expensive than radio, but at the stations where I worked, shows were kept for a week at most. File video was stored for a longer time, but that amounted to any a few minutes per broadcast week. Point being, how many of the old Art shows actually exist? When iHeart claims ownership, does it actually have physical copies, or is it only talking about copyright?
Second, releasing the old shows would cost iHeart money, too, as they would have to be digitized. That means finding a working, appropriate tape player and having at least one employee dub the tape over. That has to occur in real time. If it’s a four hour show, it would take about four hours to digitize. That’s a lot of expense, though it might be monitized by broadcasting the shows. Paying to digitize Art’s shows would be less expensive than creating new content. And iHeart needs content for all those stations.
Anyway, I’m all in favor of bombarding iHeart with emails. I’ll channel Keith and send one from each of my accounts.

A great point. Maybe not crocodile tears but a sense of relief.
Although. now dead, his misdeeds are shoved aside and he becomes mythological. (Think Paul McCartney after Lennon's murder.) Maybe that's why he's upset. Snoory can't compete with a ghost coast to coast.

So, uh, is Art going to guest host MitD anytime soon?
Quote from: albrecht on December 12, 2015, 06:46:33 PM
Yeah, I don't know how torrents "work" (like if they can be updated or new one would need to be posted/hosted?) But now that Art is over, again, the 'ultimate' torrent needs to have the shows. I love the idea of combo scenarios: some with commericals etc some without (because a decade from now, like with the current torrent is now, the commercials, news, etc can be fun to hear.) Even include some of the "new" Somewhere In Times.
williedee deserves lifetime recognition for the original work done, even if not updated.

Art should move and not give his location out. His home in Parump has become legendary over the years and its altogether too public. I think moving would be a better solution than ending the show since the stalker knows where he is still. Fuck A hole stalkers

Yep Noory has no shame, c2c still plays 90% from Art's classic bumper music list.
The few times Noory picks his own music is on Friday nights, when they play a few Frank Sinatra songs, theme from the children's show Fireball XL-5, and of course the UFO-Phil song.
Noory even had the audacity to mention recently that he saw the movie "The Martian" and said they were playing all of "HIS" bumper music...
