The hat man.....

I was sitting my living room watching TV when I noticed in my peripheral vision a tall man wearing a hat in the form of a shadow appear to open the closet door which was next to the front door and go in.

I'm thinking what the hell was that.

I ignored it and continued to watch TV.

Ten minutes later the same guy appeared again and this time I looked at it and he looked at me and then walked into the closet again.

Now I'm curious about what this thing is doing going into the closet like that.

My daughters room is on the other side of that closet and I'm getting concerned but what can I do but just wonder at this point.

Later that night I had a dream about the closet and I see a cartoon hand pointing to the upper part of the closet.

The next day I open the closet and looked where the hand was pointing and saw it was the top of the shelf.

There I found a few old picture albums that were being stored there that I was not aware of.

The albums were full of pictures of my daughters great grandpaw, a tall man in a black suit wearing a hat.

I decided it wast nothing to be worried about, just a relative checking up on us.

The reason the guy is wearing a hat is because that is how they dressed back in those days when they took pictures and visited relatives.

That's all it was and I figured nothing to worry about.....

Never saw him again.

I was visited by the Fat Man.  He said, "Lay off the Sweets, child of mine".  His name was Axl Rose.

Heidi with all her shadow, hat men, and giggling. Though Heather's witches brew crackle and "right" is annoying.

I think Hat Man is pretty much the only man that has ever been in her bedroom.

hahaha

Heidi Hollis, she was that psycho who Heather kicked off the show after an hour.

I didn't realize she was on MNITD.  I haven't listened in a while because Heather sucks so bad.

Well, Art Bell--->MNTD--->Heather, but I'm realizing, yeah, wrong forum.  Sorry.  Delete it if it's out of place.  I'll repost it where it belongs.

And IMO, I'd say Heather sucks more.  I can at least listen to Heidi for periods of time.  It's when she starts talking about the Jesus shit, or rambles on about herself, I'm out.

Pete's right. Why dump on him for asking questions that everyone else asked when the drone videos surfaced? Sounds like Art is still bitter over how the affiliates bottomed out when muh Heather took over - as if anything could have been done to prevent it. Also, hot dogs.

Can't blame Pete... the guy got the chair pulled out from under him like the rest of us.

And Art's response is to act like a six year old in a sand box.

EDIT:  I just did a screen-print of Peter's post and cut and paste of Art's reply

Well, there you have it.  A legendary broadcaster who PIONEERED a genre of talk radio, inspired and enlightened millions, devolves his career and undermines everything he's built  by getting caught up in petty social media fights, and acting like a deva-drama queen.

What a jack-ass.

I am truly sorry but Heather does not fill the bill, first she has a daytime radio voice, not that deep and mesmerizing voice needed to keep people glued.....

She doesn't have a daytime radio voice, she doesn't have a nighttime radio voice. She doesn't HAVE a radio voice PERIOD. Not in the traditional sense and not unless she gets rid of that godawful lilt of hers.

Then again, neither does Michael Vara. And he has a radio show.
#10
FYI, Vara took another shot at Art last night. He called him "wuss". Good.  Art deserves it.
#11
I vote narcissist AND drama queen… And stupid for a variety of reasons. (posting pictures of your daughter on your website while someone is supposedly firing a gun aimed your house? Not so smart Art.)

No, he's not a sociopath.

Yes, I said I was going to hang it up, I did not say Retire, or if I did I missed it. What I wrote is what I said which did not include the word Retire. Doesn't matter I guess.

Art

You might as well retire, because you just sunk the network that Keith created for you. What's the point of coming back?

Sorry Art, I understand you have to do what's right for your family, but you really screwed things up for a lot of people who worked hard on that network. If I was Keith I'd never speak to you again.

And BTW, if you did come back, who's going to take you seriously?

Yes, Keith is the one who loses here.  I wonder if he and Art are speaking now?

I thought Keith already posted his near term plans for the network earlier today.
It would seem he is going to give DMDN at least 30days more since he still has affiliate and advertiser commitments that go thru then.
After 30days he will evaluate continuation based on performance of the remaining shows.
He also said he is pulling back from the more expensive server setup for Art's higher load demand, back to the cheaper server setup he had used prior to July when Art's show started.

Keith also mentioned possibly not having any more of the LIVE shows, only the pre-recorded podcast shows.
That is because Keith has an automated setup for the pre-recorded shows, but has to be there watching over everything during the live shows.
That would mean the live shows like Hoagland, Dr. J, Future Theater, Skywatcher's Radio would be gone from the network soon or they would only be played as pre-recorded shows now.
Some of the live shows are available streamed live from other networks like PSN, but Hoagland and Dr. J shows are only DMDN so they would need to find a new "lifeboat" network to be carried on, perhaps PSN or Deep Talk Radio?

I guess I missed that earlier post.  So, the real question is:  after thirty days does it die?

I know I'm done with it.  Part of listening was the anticipation of the return of the drama queen.  But the drama queen left the castle and I sure ain't listening to Heather.  She was great as a producer and maybe if she did her own podcast I might check it out, but Heather filling in for Art?  Um... thank you, no.

How long do you think this will last folks?  When will Keith pull the plug One week?  Two?

If I'm Keith I'm probably:

1. Not paying for or spending countless hours monitoring that shit.

2. Never have dealings with Art ever again because I'm not going to get tangled up with a friggin' drama queen.

What about Heather (redacted) ?

EX-ACTLY!  There is SO much at stake here, you'd think he'd find a way.  Advertisers, Heather, Keith, etc.... This is all bullshit.  He's done with the show...

I'm sure there is a more interesting back story to all this.  There is WAY more to this than a shooter - if there is one at all.   As in, if there is a shooter - and there may be - THAT is not the reason why he's quitting.

Once this blows over, art will be back.

I have the next 6 weeks off. Was looking forward to being able to stay up and call in

If Art REALLY wanted to do this show, he'd find a way.  He's not coming back.  He doesn't want to do it anymore.  Read between the lines

I get a "boy who cried wolf" feeling about this.

Even if so, by then all the terrestrial stations will be gone and I doubt many, if any, will give him the time of day again. "Little radio show" indeed.

Exactly.  Who could take him seriously now?

Well, I suppose that will sink the entire investment that he and Keith made.   Honestly, the big loser in this is Keith.  I just think this WHOLE thing, as with EVERYTHING involving Art, is more ludicrous melodrama.

I wasn't into him sharing the spotlight, but it's cool that he tried it out.

I'm with ya on that. You can't fault the guy for tryin. And I'm not. I would have just hoped he would have tried it with someone who was a little better equipped.

Stop acting like this is all about your slavering fanboy for Art.  This isn't something that was imposed on him, Art decided to give this a try.  I've just had my fill of "I love Art, but I want him to do it MY way" posts.

You've waited a long time, would it be so much grief to you to wait awhile longer to see if Art's creative instincts will bear fruit?

Sure he can try anything he wants, but we can decide what works and what doesn't work as listeners.   And for the majority of listeners, if it ain't working, they won't complain they'll just not listen. for a talk show, radio style, people not listening Is absolute suicide.
If there's no chemistry, or something doesn't work, they won't be listening for long. And I'm not talking about the people on the forum I'm talking about the general Art bell fans.
#26
It's not redundant, all the other posts have basically said she sucks get her off. Or she did such an awesome job with compliments akin  to a third grader soccer game. I'm offering a reason why it doesn't work. Everybody complains went about the weather but no one does anything about it.
#27
(And this is absolutely nothing against her or has anything to do with her as a contributer to the forum)

She added nothing. Nota. She was like a stone wall.   All I heard was this second voice with an ungodly annoying lilt. With no meaningful comment whatsoever.

And you know what?  After 10 minutes listening,  I shut the program off because she basically ground the flow of it to a halt.  I DONT CARE WHAT SHE THINKS. AS A LISTENER, I ONLY CARE WHAT ART THINKS. That's why I tune in.

Put the pom-poms away fan-people. It was a nice try but it didn't work â€" with her.

Now I'm not saying a second voice wouldn't work. It might, but only with the right person.  And that is absolutely crucial, because Art's show is so firmly established as a one-man band. It has worked so well for so long, you absolutely have to have the right person knows how to contribute and not upset that delicate, magical, wonderful balance that has worked so well for so many years. It's why art has endured.

So, in sum. This is not a hate post, this is not an indictment against Redacted as a person or a forum contributor.  I've never met her. I've never even responded to any of her posts, only quietly read them. And have no opinion either way.  For all I know she may be the greatest person since
Mahatma Gandhi. The only thing I can say, as a listener, is get her off the show and get her off now. She has no chemistry. Zero. Zilch. Last night all I heard was this second voice that came out of nowhere, had nothing meaningful to say, and had this ungodly annoying lilt that made me want to jam A hat pin through my eardrum.

How  about this in fairness? Have her do her very own show, let her prove that she can hold her own in the longform talk radio format, then bring her back if she's that good as everyone says she is.

i don't know what that's based on, though.  i used to work at a station that occasionally ran paid programming, and they made squat from it.  there will be room for local stations to generate ad revenue with art.  they just won't have the giant gaping advertising holes they currently have with programs like c2c.  fine, i say.  perhaps this will revolutionize how the hourly broadcast clock is structured in 2015 talk radio?  who knows.

Well, that'd be great.  Especially since the news networks are dumping their syndicated hourly newscasts.  Why bother breaking away at all, then.

That assumes that the station is able to sell that paid programming inventory.  Lots of smaller regionals wouldn't be able to.

Essentially eliminating the NY market b/c all these AM's here (NYC) keep the lights on with paid programming.

the stations can adhere to your rules, and if not, they can get lost.  up to them.  you'll still be doing your intended thing either way which is what makes this all so awesome.

From a station standpoint, I just don't see how it makes sense.  They'd make more money by running paid programming.

Don't get me wrong, I think its AWESOME that stations will be carrying the show.
