Talk to any DJ / Personality / Host you can find involved in radio be it "music" or talk radio and they'll be more than happy to tell you off record how cut throat it is. Sabotage, backstabbing and unethical moves are considered the norm and the idea of it happening between Art and George is very realistic.

ART,

I think it's worth the trouble to see if your broadcasting contract disallows you from broadcasting from a "Sovereign" Indian Nation  into the USA, or it's Territories .

My guess is that it probably doesn't cover broadcasting from another nation.

In any event, let your listeners know how much it will take for you to get out of your ND contract with  Premier (amicably).  Set up an account that your fans can send their funds to. 8)

I'm 100% behind the idea of Art setting up an account to refund the fans who invested into SiriusXM solely to hear him who were sorely disappointed. Valid reasons for quitting or not they were the ones left holding the bag like WTF. Can't wait to hear him on the air again but I certainly think this is a bit of a stretch after all was said and done. I already had SiriusXM myself so I'm not personally out but I can't say the same for a few of my family members who heard about it and jumped in out of their own pockets and are still wondering WTH.

If he were truly interested in getting back on the air sooner than later he has the resources and time necessary to do what he could.

Also having C2C in so quickly was a little odd. Either it was planned from the beginning or they potentially saw an audience with their brief time with Art they thought C2C could pull in. There's more than a few scenarios I could see regarding that whole situation but without having any actual knowledge of the situation I don't put that much thought into it. If Art appears back on the air via the radio or internet I'll be glad to listen again. Serial quitter or not he's provided me with countless hours of entertainment and occasionally even some useful information. I already had Sirius myself so luckily I was not out anything and it's gotta suck for those who put up money specifically for this alone to see how quickly it fell apart.

The whole Conan situation left a bad taste in my mouth with Leno but I can see what you mean. There's a likeness there, if even slightly, that I can see. I'd have to say the ability to fill time talking without really saying anything when you have a guest people might actually want a real interview from is where I see it. George could have on someone we'd love to get into it with in an interview and really put out something productive for both the guest and audience but the majority of the time it's the idle bs chit-chat routine while avoiding anything of real sustenance. This is how I view the majority of late night television host. Every now and then they'll have a guest on with a juicy controversy or something a bit deeper than what skin flick they've just finished shooting and the whole show will remain this light exchange of bs. It's always been that way, especially on television. The host is more of a platform for advertising and pr control, even in the "news". I expect a little more out of talk radio but those days have passed and it seems the majority of host are only interested in these quaint and safe Leno-esq encounters.

Concerning the keyboard warriors and grammar nazi encounters I keep coming across I'd just like to leave you with this. When my Nephew comes over he loves to jump online. He's a bit young and I'm obviously a little worried what he'll come across online and what his own response might be. I remind him almost every time he opens the browsers that there's already enough mean spirited and aggravating people online. Why add to it? Life is short so let the little stuff go.

Radio and Podcasts / Re: Took Art Bell for a ride

I listened to the show as a child on the road with my father. It's amazing to see the things people were being called crazy for are things we see more and more in the mainstream media these days. That always left me with a healthy respect for at least hearing out what a guest might have to say.

Sometimes it just seems so obviously a big pile of pooh but if nothing else there's the entertainment value and the platform where things of any nature could be discussed. Even in the craziest stories there's something for us as the listener to take away at the end if we desire. Much like you may not agree with the majority of another's personal beliefs but you do find some common ground on a few things and take away what good you can.

I've been more than tempted to jump in and get creative more than once but never have done it. I've got a face for radio and a voice for silent movies so I avoid putting myself out there that often. I did have this really great theory that a portal was created in the center of the water as a toilet was being flushed where energy could sometimes escape that could explain why sometimes there's a splash up when you flush and other times there isn't. Makes me giggle to think about it but no way could I present that with a "straight face".

Radio and Podcasts / Re: Final Torrent
February 22, 2014, 06:32:17 PM
In most torrent programs you can selectively download files out of it without having to grab them all unless of course they're archived. When loading the torrent you'll usually see a list of what's included with check boxes beside the items. Uncheck what you don't want to download and you're golden.

On a newer torrent with a smaller amount of seeds you'll find this might slow things down a bit but if it's what you gotta do for what this sounds like it'd be worth the extra trouble if that's the only way you'll be able to go about it. Obviously the external HDD option would be your best bet and they have some wonderful deals online and often in your local brick and mortar stores as well. I just got a Toshiba 3TB USB 3.0 capable external HDD for $89 USD(before taxes) at my local "big box" mart.

This is my first post here on these forums. I occasionally pop on to read up on things here and there but I'd like to thank you and everyone else involved in putting this torrent together. Sounds like you all got your work cut out for you! Anywho, take care all and if you've got some time on your hands make yourself a food buddy like my Ninja Potato! Nothing puts a smile on my face like food that might fight back!
