I suppose it's a little easier for me, since I'm sure homeopathy is utter nonsense, and 'healing herbs/foods/supplements' close behind, so i only need to track prescription drugs and a few OTC things I don't take regularly. It's a pretty simple matter to gather the six prescription drugs and 4 prescribed supplements together in those pill caddies labeled for each day of the week and keep them in the kitchen, since I take them with meals. The extra OTC stuff, like acetaminophen and allergy pills live in the bathroom medicine cabinet.

You have to be 65, or in some cases, disabled, to receive Medicare. Medicare pays 80% of what are called Part B medical expenses (most anything but hospitalization and prescription drugs). Part A is hospitalization and Medicare pays 100% after a small deductible. If you qualify (generally less than 2K a month in income and 2K in assets other than your home, if any, Medicaid will pick up the 20% of Part B and usually pay your Part B premium. I qualify for both and went through a health crisis a year or so ago, with over three months in the hospital, and haven't paid a penny out-of-pocket. Medicaid is a state-by-state proposition, though, and if the funding isn't there neither is the coverage.

Old people who can't afford housing are screwed. We're dealing with that with a relative right now. Medicare won't pay for 'custodial care' like assisted living, period. They will pay for nursing home care that's deemed medically necessary. Medicaid will help with assisted living, but the patient essentially needs to impoverish himself to qualify (which, I guess, is as it should be). The facility my relative is going into (nursing home) provides all the 'creature comforts' she wants, anyway (save privacy).

It's probably unreasonable to expect there to be flying squads of government do-gooders running around helping people like your old guy, but as you mentioned, programs exist to help out. Someone (you?) needs to point him to the proper agencies.

The Cunard Liner SS Tuscania was sunk by a German U-boat on February 5, 1918.  There were 384 crew members and 2,013 United States Army personnel on board.  Approximately 210 soldiers and crewmen were lost.  One notable survivor was aeromechanic Harry Randall Truman, who would later die in the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.

Drowning's too good for him - let's wait sixty-two years and light the guy up in a freaking volcano.

BANDIT HOLDS UP CLUB SALOON

The holdup man had on a black mask, which covered his entire face. He was about 6 feet 10 inches tall and weighed about 180 pounds.

6' 10" and 180 pounds - shouldn't be hard to pick him out, especially in 1918.

I listened to a few minutes, and, like The Swish, I couldn't get past the bad audio quality, though the fact that you chose a lying sack of shit like John Lear as a guest didn't help.

AMUSEMENTS AT BUTLER THEATER

Miss Glaum, whom a noted critic recently declared to be "the screen's most credible vampire," has a part particularly fitted to her abilities.

I think that should be 'vamp', not 'vampire'.

buy some pepper spray.  Squirt that in the garage when fm time to time and soon they will stop smoking out there.  Or call the 7 digit line to the police from a burner cell phone and give the neighbors address, complain that they have an underage girl in there and that they are smoking dope and laughing about how stupid the local coppers are.

And we understand Escrow! Sexy as hell to the 25 year old hotties!

This probably belongs in the Things That Annoy You thread, but it really chaps my ass that @Swishypants can be this annoying and this funny at the same time.

If the book is written as well as the blurb, I can't wait to read it. I could use that $4,972.

'No-no' for no-hitter in baseball, and every football color guy is suddenly talking about players being 'in space', which annoys me mainly because I have no idea what they're talking about.

After Charlottesville, 'white supremacist' became 'white nationalist' across the media board. Not the same thing at all.

Usually known as travel trailers here. I've owned a few and the only serious mechanical problems I've had were wheel bearing failures, so have those cleaned and packed at least once a season.

The guy who maintains my vehicles insists 'it's all about fluids'. Change the engine oil, transmission fluid and coolant religiously to the manufacturer's 'severe duty' schedule. Cheap insurance. If you need struts and other suspension parts replaced, be sure they install zerk fittings which allow lubrication, if possible.'Lifetime lubrication' ain't.

My personal habit is to replace not-so-expensive parts at the first hint of a problem. Charge idiot light flicker? New alternator. I really don't like being stationary on the side of some god-forsaken side road.

Spend some time at the local Walmart parking lot practicing backing up and parking the trailer where you want it, so your fellow RV'ers won't laugh at you later.

Geez, I thought you'd never ask. I voted 'Yes', not because I don't want to read posts I disagree with ( I read and enjoy posts from the two guys in the UK, and they haven't got anything right since they showed up here). I'd like to be able to Ignore the nitwit trolls who post a dozen times n a row in a thread and spend most of their time here insulting each other.

You're welcome

Thank you. I assumed you would have all the links right there at your fevered, American-hating fingertips. Even Snopes has to jump through some considerable hoops to define toddlers and terrorists in order to judge this claim True, and the article from your Guardian is just more whiny, 'I'm a'feared of those evil guns' propaganda.

I'll also point out that if it's true, it's only true for one year (2015). That may be what we in the colonies call an 'anomaly'. Maybe the Moslems were taking a break.

Well, he spent two hours night before last interview-fellating  Robert Shapiro. All talk show hosts are at their worst when interviewing a guest who they think they (and you) should admire.
