For the love of Bell Gab, this guy is full of shit. Like many of you, I'm a vet. This guy is full of shit.

How does one "prove" their DD-214 has been tampered with? I served on Mars from '94-2000. My DD-214 shows the 101st. It's been tampered with!!!! Bullshit.

wouldn't it have been easier for the gov to kill this guy off?

Yes.

This is painful - clearly Art doesn't believe his story.

Holy fuckballs - she's carrying the show better than Jorsch on a light bourbon night.

Again, I find Ms. Lisa's voice very soothing. Intelligent life+space = good show. Vitamins+soothing voice = going to sleep.
#9
Whomever Lisa is, she has a soothing voice. On the other hand, I stopped listening when the guest started talking about her cancer diagnosis. I can't, I just can't, do any more shows like this. I, honestly, have no idea what she has to say beyond her diagnosis. The point is, there have been so many vitamin and new age bullshit shows, I stopped listening at "cancer".

Jorsch, it's Coast to Coast, not a fucking infomercial.

At bellgab sucks Sarah wants to know what annoys me, so I will tell you.

Delusional princesses that have no connection to the real world and yet believe they can criticize others and tell them how they should behave. They believe that their opinion and their happiness is the only thing that matters. I see these princesses everyday and they are becoming greater in number. And not to leave the men out, if you are a princess (and there are many of them) wear a skirt so we can avoid you.

Sarah just because you can create a forum and build a fantasy world that you are in control of and can shape it and others that way you feel doesn't make it the real world.

delusional control freaks sum up everything that is wrong with this world.

I think you're right. She went postal when others dared disagree with her. Rather than just acknowledging others may think differently, or that - gasp - she might be wrong, she started accusing others of sexism and questioning their supposed dark motives.

Checked out the Bellgabsucks forum. Holy shit! Even the very structure of the forum is an exercise in narcissism. Come talk to ME! Live chat with ME! Meet ME! Post about ME! Read a blog about ME! Bellgabsucks by ME! Dave wrote to ME and agreed to post here because *I* don't like those despicable meanies at the other forum.

Something isn't right there.

Acting like a superior arrogant a-hole is no way to convince others.

OK, I'm an arrogant ass. What did I say that rang untrue to you?

Ok. I just had a very interesting conversation with some one in programming named Charles.

So for all the people saying this isn't helping, get bent. It is and it will help if we continue it.

Ok, I'll get bent. In the meantime: help with what? Get Art back on the air making money for SiriusXM? Oh no? Then why would they let him out of non compete? Oh, because you have been promised free streaming from the guy that walked put after six weeks? Suuuuuure, they'll get right on that. After all, they are loosing sleep over a former customer who is asking them to allow Art to provide (supposedly) a free product. The very same product they spent a lot of money promoting, engineering, setting up his studio, etc, etc, etc.

They already have customer support people at work 24/7, your calls don't mean shit to them for the reasons I stated above. Same with e-mails. If the circumstances were different (Art still on the job, legions of SUBSCRIBERS threatening to quit), this would be the right approach. Unfortunately, the fallout has already occurred and our star went AWOL. You have ZERO leverage.

So you think a campaign designed to be a nuisance from FORMER subscribers (if many ever were) demanding Art be let out of a NC so he can stream, for FREE, what SiriusXM signed a contract to generate revenue over is a winning strategy?

You're deluded.

If Art gets put of his NC, and I hope he does, it will be due to legal maneuvering.

That NC that Art signed cuts both ways. They have to provide the infrastructure they promised. Unless they wrote a contingency and why would they imply they couldn't provide the efficient platform they tout?

Now I should leave and go buy some more Alka Seltzer Cold stuff since my last medicine is wearing out and I'm getting partially coherent..

Sorry to bug you guys, bye......
annie

I hope you feel better soon!

One problem: Art walked out and thereby deleveraged himself. If he was still on the air, had and audience and paying subscribers, you'd be on to something.

Cool, a working number. I wouldn't have posted it unless I was 99.9% sure.

How a radio network will look at this: Awesome, so not only is Art a prima-donna, but his fans are a nuisance too. Can you not see how counter productive this is? I get what you're trying to do. I do. Making yourself a PITA only reinforces that Art & his audience ain't worth the trouble.

She hung up on me lol.

As I said, don't think you can win the pissing contest when you don't have anything they want. Most who will quit over this already have. You've seen how concerned SiriusXM was over this: they weren't.

Um no. At some point if this becomes big enough it becomes easier for Sirius to release art from his nc then continue to receive bad trends on social media, emails clogged up and loss of subscribers. This can work.

The vast majority of people who would quit SiriusXM over this already have, me included. Pissing of SiriusXM is not a winnable strategy, it's just wasting your time. If the number of cancelations that have already occurred doesn't make enough business sense to work things out with Art, spamming up someone's inbox isn't going to. Don't fool yourself into thinking they won't change their spam filters to deal with repetitive e-mails dealing with a subject they no longer care about.

I appreciate the passion and dedication, I really do. Don't fool yourself into thinking you can harass people who have no obligation to listen to you into into taking action that is detrimental to their business because you want something.

If Art gets out of the NC, it won't because of spammed mail boxes. If you wanted Art back on SiriusXM, making money for SiriusXM, this would be the approach to take.

You demand Art be released from his NC because you have been promised free streaming elsewhere? Why would SiriusXM give a dam?

I've watched and read through this thread with epic fascination. Look, the streaming issues and the rest of the circus act is nothing more than a distraction from the real problem: a very low number of listeners.

Art, to his credit, has pointed this out himself, although it tends to get buried under other excuses. There is a saying in business that sales solve all problems. Transferred to radio: lots of listeners solve all problems. The bottom line here is that not many people made the jump from trying the service, to paying for it. Streaming issues may have been an agrivating circumstance, but don't delude yourself. The issue was low audience numbers, period.

I love Art Bell's skill. I was right there with the rest of you a decades ago listening in the middle of the night, riveted to my radio. It was magical. As others have said, that was 20 years ago and you couldn't get that kind of programming anywhere else. Times have changed. Paranormal radio, recordings, movies, TV shows, etc, etc have been around continuously for 20 years now. It's not new. In fact, it might be a rather tired topic with many people.

In light of this, DM was pretty good. After all, with Art doing the interviews, how bad could it possibly be?! The answer: not good enough for the lion's share of people to part with money to keep listening. Spare me how $14.95/MO  just isn't doable for many, many people. Bullshit. The cold, hard reality is DM wasn't worth $14.95/MO when there are other (advertisement supported) "free" choices to be had.

If it made business sense (listeners) to fix all of the supposed problems, SiriusXM would have.

So, as I understand it he had a 3 year contract with a 2 year NC? That means the NC would have run out before his contract ran out? So he could have left after 2 years and gone to another venue? Wouldn't he have had to honor the 3 year part? I guess there is a reason to have lawyers, this shit is confusing.

The way to look at this:

SiriusXM agreed to promote, set up the logistics, pay for a staff and provide all/most of the equipment for DM and pay Art for as many as three years in exchange for:
1). Art's exclusivity for a minimum of two years. That is, under no circumstances will people be able to hear the Art Bell product ANYWHERE else (no matter how successful, or not, the show is) for two years.
2). At the end of two years Art could quit and immediately start broadcasting elsewhere, but still may be in violation of the three year contract with other penalties due (Money, paying for equipment used in the show, etc).

Why would Art sign a deal like this? Because - as we are now seeing - there's a whole lot more required for a successful show than showing up. Art provides the talent, Sirius provides everything else. Everything else is a lot. Why would Sirius insist on a NC? To prevent your host from spending your time, resources and money and then pulling an "Art Bell".

I think ART is coming back soon. yup yup yup ..........

*If* he's bluffing and SiriusXM is talking to him behind the scenes. If not, it's over. The show is hugely popular to us, but compared to something like Stern's show, it's not even on their radar. Silence is not indicative of some serious thinking.

Look, unless Art can make a compelling case for a working - read income producing for SiriusXM - business model, it's over.
