My brother in law mentioned these deaths to me a few weeks ago and I didn't believe him at first. It is kind of strange it hasn't been in the news more.

Every once in a while I'll hear this term on someone's radio show and who the hell knows what exactly that is, but this last week I realized that one of my employees is just an energy draining person.  Every time I have to spend time in a meeting with him, it drains all the energy out of me.  So much so I take the next day off.

Have you ever had someone in your life that drains all your energy just by being in the same room (not referring to a nymphomaniac)?

i forgot to add:  most tv shows that appear on the pirate bay are listed there within hours of airing.

The more popular shows pop up about 15 minutes after airing (end of show)!  The commercials are even cut out from what ive been told.

Since C2C posts their schedule you might try to interview one of them first  8)

I really dislike listening to radio people try to talk about technical details when it is obvious they don't know anything.  It reminds me of when Noory was talking about  "the androids" and pushing the awful apps they first published.  Anyways, your servers sucked, you didn't purchase enough bandwidth, and it crashed and burned.  Live and learn.

He was already on with Schrader? I will ask him though.

I would say it wasn't the best interview as he kind of wandered.  Try to keep him on topic!

Thanks for the vote of confidence from most of you.

I look forward to filling in on Saturdays when they need me.

As an aside, it is intriguing to me people's "sense of humor" and desire or aversion to use of humor on a paranormal themed show.
What has been most intriguing is that people either find us VERY funny or NOT. There never seems to be a middle ground. That in itself is a strange anomaly. I will always try to have a lighter tone on our show as that is our personality, with that said I will be much more serious on C2C as it is not MY show and I will adhere to the guidelines that have set in stone.

I hope many of you will continue to listen and support my fill ins with Coast and hope this will be a long and successful relationship.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Dave

Are you saying you're taking over Saturdays?  No worries Dave, you do a great job.

Darkness radio interviewed the priest that did some exorcisms there a couple days ago.  Also, this story hit on Drudge so it will get picked up and will be interesting to see where it goes.

Dave, I really hope you end up getting the full time position for Saturdays. Since JBW took that slot, I have not listened on Saturdays, I hope this will change. Good luck man! :D

If he took Saturdays I wonder if he would cut one of the slots from his "day" job hosting Darkness Radio..

I saw this on google plus the other day and thought it was pretty damn cool.  You will probably want to click the image to expand it.  Look at it and cross your eyes until the little dots line up and hold it there for a minute.  All of a sudden the photo is in 3D.  It is pretty crazy.

No worries on the errors. Nice to meet you and everyone else.

Random Topics / Re: Things That Annoy You

I never had this annoyance until I moved to Peru but since I'm pretty light colored the taxi drivers sometimes assume that I'll pay them more money.  A 20ish minute taxi ride to a large mall close by should cost about $3.75 (converted).  Too many times they'll start the negotiation at $20.  Several times they've asked for twenty dollars as in actual dollars, not the local currency (this happens less frequent now that the dollar is weaker).   They have every right to try and negotiate (I love this about Peru and just about everything here is negotiable) but when they get pissed off after they see I'm fluent in Spanish and know what they should charge, that gets annoying to me.  No reason for them to get pissy.   Many times I just say "no gracias" and walk away especially when they start so damn high and one time the driver got offended and pulled up next to me and started lecturing me about being rude.   Imagine going to the gas station and they say it will be $21 per gallon.

I could actually rant about taxi drivers all day long considering I take about 25 per week.

I'm broke= estoy quebrado, estoy jodido, estoy hasta el cuello

I have lived here for 40 years, after escaping a Canadian winter, and now I'm semi-retired.. a few private English classes and living is easy
;)

I'm sure the winter is much nicer in Mexico!

I moved to Lima for work (opened an office) and a girl.  It worked out really well.

That exchange was confusing to me too. Maureen said "gringa su madre" which to me means "stranger your mama". But gringomisio quotes Maureen as "chinga su madre" which I can't even translate here.

Maureen, did you understand my first post to gringomisio? Because I guess he's from Peru? And you're in Mexico? I go to Mexico now and then (Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa) and I think maybe Peru Spanish is slightly different? As is  Uruguay, etc.

With slang you can't really use a translator and Maureen was doing a kind of play on the words as she mentioned.  Here in Peru chingar doesn't mean anything, I mean if I said it they'd probably look at me like, well a Mexican but I bet that jerga probably illicits a laugh every time she uses it.  Peruvians actually use the verb "cachar" or "coger" although "concha tu madre \ puta madre" is probably more common here.

Your spanish doesn't have any regional differences, it was just that you didn't conjugate the verb which makes it confusing.  I didn't mean to offend you or anything I just wasn't sure exactly what you were saying as it could have gone a couple ways.

And someone asked me about my nick here, it actually means "Broke Gringo" in Peruvian slang.  Misio = broke.    The other way to say it of which I'm not sure is slang or not is, "Estoy aguja".  Maureen, do they say that in Mexico to mean broke while pointing to their neck?

oye, aquí cuando me dicen ¡gringa! yo les respondo ¡gringa su madre! ....jajajajaja.... saludos!  ;D

I didn't quite understand your last sentence if you were asking me something (doesn't make sense!).

Hello All, new member as well.  I discovered the site after searching for some derogatory terms about the current C2C host and found this forum.  I live in South America and always enjoy listening to paranormal shows when working and to get my English fix as I miss it sometimes.  My favorite one's right now are Dark Weekend and Darkness Radio.

The first time I had my hair cut in Peru was a bit shocking.  They cut your hair and then they bring out a straight razor. One of those disposable kinds that you might use to scrape paint or something.  They proceeded to shave my neck and other touchups without any shaving cream/etc.  DRY.  So on that point, give it a go on your face.

Gringomisio: My "The Podcast" episode for Dec 29th is 109mb. For talk shows I think mono would be sufficient which would cut the size in half. But that's up to them. It's length is 2:39:18. BitRate is 96kbs. That's good enough for talk podcasts. I just dfelete the program after listening to it on my portable device to make room. If you need to store them use the main computer or external HD.  Yeah, the 1.43gb size is about 14 times too large so something is wrong there.

I understand about the bit rates, but it just seems to have an excessively high encoding.  Anyways, this is what my podcast app reports for the download for the episode.  Was it any good?

I've seen the first two episodes.  S3e01 was good but I didn't like the way it was directed.  The second was was better in my opinion.  This show doesn't compare at all to the USA version and is world's better.

It is definitely ME!

Thanks for the surprising show of support and kind words from most of you.

I don't know when I will be back as they tend to spring it on me last minute
but I am at the ready!

If you like more paranormal topics we aim to please on our show, Darkness Radio.
We are live Mon-Friday 9-Midnight cst and we are like Coast to Coast Lite.

Our show is more paranormal-centric and we add humor and fun along the way,
always trying to adhere to our mission statement to Educate, Entertain & Enlighten!

I am always open to dialogue and constructive criticism so feel free to contact me Dave@DarknessRadio.com

~Dave

Your show is better than Coast to Coast so I wouldn't call it "lite"..  True crime Tuesday is one of my favorites.

I wouldn't be surprised if Keith owned the artbell.com domain name.

Out of curiosity for those of you that make money off of ads, how much revenue do you think the site generates or would generate if Dark Matter took off?

Is it true Art Bell didn't pay his webmaster, that said webmaster had to try to get cash through affiliate link programs?

If Art was paying his webmaster this would have never been posted.. It seems artbell.com is Keith's site about Art as opposed to Art's site:

Besides the commercials which are usually about 5 minutes long and frequent, is there some reason this podcast is a 150mb download for about 2 hours of audio?  Looking at others to compare like Dark Weekend is about 100mb (2 hours) or C2CAM which comes in around 14mb per 45 minutes of audio.  This is just interviews we don't required a high sampling rate.  I mention this because I have a 16gb phone (nexus 4) and live in South America.  Downloads are slow and when the shows are much larger than they need to be a phone can fill up quickly.

My podcast app indicates the december 1st episode as 1.43 GB.  Was this a 12 hour marathon?

First, I usually enjoy Darkness Radio but a couple days ago they had Terry Cook on and he was absolutely one of the worst guests.  I am almost surprised Dave didn't kick him off the show.  He was patronizing and didn't really want to directly answer any questions.  Just wondering if you have heard of this guy and your opinion of him?  I'd rather not link to his site as he doesn't deserve the traffic.
