there is the Scorpions song "winds of change" but its probably not what he was referencing but interesting lines about children of the night...hummmm

songwriters:* Meine, Klaus;

Follow the Moskwa
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night
Soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of change

The world is closing in
Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers
The future's in the air
Can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change

etc., etc.

Weren't the Scorpions the band who attempted to sue the makers of "This is Spinal Tap" - alleging that it was about them!  :o

The show with Wells has almost become awful. You can tell he is out of ideas when  he tells a guest to 'take this where ever you'd like to go'

I don't think he has many ideas - his deep voice has carried him through life as a voice over guy, where creativity is not priority #1. He sounds at a loss most of the time, to me. He really is out of his depth even on the current Coast, shallow as that has become.

I check here occasionally to read the rationalizations of Bell's pump & dump of C2C and its loyal listeners.  Like he gives a rat's ass after the pot he walked away with.  Get over Art, folks; he sure as hell got over you.

I think this has the ring of truth, unfortunately.

As to why Art left in the first place - my first assumption was that he was seen as too much of a loose cannon by certain "powers that be" (I don't have any inside information - just a feeling) and was intimidated behind the scenes - threatened, possibly - and it just got too hot around here. This also makes some sense of uprooting and re-locating to south east Asia.

As to George Gnaw-ey (he chews his words and strikes me as rodent-like) - he seems safer, more compliant and much less of a threat to the establishment.

I'm sure Art could re-establish another competing radio talk show and very quickly not only eclipse the current C2C in ratings, but threaten it's existence, as the listeners and the most interesting guests given the choice between the two shows would flock to Art's show, whatever it was called. I think the advertisers would also cross-migrate if the ratings were higher than Coast 2 Coast. The transitionary period would be tricky, though, as the networks have their loyalties, not to speak of contracts.
