This just isn't the case. Here is a link for 6 months for $24.99, and you can call them to apply a new promo code once your six months are done.

You can download an app on a tablet, Kindle, smart phone, etc. If you use an app, you're not going to need an antenna or separate satellite radio. If you don't have something to download an app to, you can get a dedicated satellite radio. You will need clear access to the southern sky for your antenna.

One of the things that I always enjoyed about Art was his appreciation for the best in television. There on some good shows on the tube, believe it or not, and Art usually managed to find them. I happen to know that he's a fan of Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead (two shows I'm also crazy over), from comments his wife has made on her FB page. It'll be nice to hear his comments on the shows as Breaking Bad starts its final season next month and The Walking Dead begins Season 4 in October.

Just checked the Coast to Coast AM website (oh I feel so dirty now) and they are still offering Art Bell Somewhere in Time (usually circa 1995-2003) as part of their Coast Insider service as well as including Art in their weekly offering of Classic Shows (usually circa 2006-2009).
Interestingly this weeks classic show from Art is entitled Dark Matter & Hubble: An astronomy scholar at Caltech, Richard Massey, discussed the latest findings about dark matter and dark energy, and how the Hubble Telescope is used to gather this data.
Coincidence or Synchronicity?

Hard to tell. You need the radio near a window. If it doesnt work, listen via the internet.

Which is fair comment IF you haven't got to invest possibly a great deal of money to listen.. But if you do, and he's not on the air in 8/ 15/ 24 mths? You won't get your money back will you?

Personally, I don't care what it's called... it will always and forever be The Art Bell Show.
Glad I didn't reign in my excitement. This is exactly what I was hoping for.
It's the return of Art freakin Bell fer chrissakes. Just in time for the holiday season no less!
This is the coolest thing to happen on the internet, ever.

That's it! THE ANNOUNCEMENT is that Art is going to get his license renewed. Right after he feeds the cats.

I could speculate, but that's all it would be. If so, Cumulus would be getting money out of it for sure. This kind of thing, without looking at the contract or knowing other details of it, is really hard to have a feeling on one way or the other. I am quite sure that Art got the exact deal he was looking for. Cumulus is a fairly big umbrella though, so I don't know that he would even need to do that.
EDIT: I just double checked to be sure because I wasn't 100% certain, but if he was just doing internet or satellite broadcasting, he wouldn't have needed to renew his AM/FM license.
Clearly I have am not 100% what Art is doing because I don't know the man. But I know how entertainment media industries work very well, so my speculation on all of this is coming from a knowledge of those things. If he doesn't own an AM/FM show I will be shocked, because the evidence points to that in an almost undeniable fashion. I just wanted to make it clear that I don't personally know Art, so I am not getting any of this information from him and don't want to be implying that I am.

Likely, yes. We talked about this yesterday morning, but given that he is using artbell.com for all of this means he outright owns the show he is doing. That's a ton of ad revenue, likely millions of dollars worth, and unless he owns the show, he wouldn't be allowed to use it without it being linked in network, which it is not, at least at this time.

Yes it is 65% now. You can view the progress in numeric % by viewing the page source and looking for the following code near the bottom of the source code:

You are, or course correct. But just to be correct, it's now at 65% as of 0315 EST.

Will this be a satellite radio venture for Art or another terrestrial radio venture?
Quote from: coaster on July 29, 2013, 12:39:24 AM
I've never seen so many people so excited over an animated progress bar.

It wasn't intended as an argument; it was an observation. I just hope he gets the support and if he falls short not get shit on.
What are the chances of Hoagland being on?

You can listen to pretty much any station on tunein.com or on one of their iPhone / Android apps. So no matter what / when / where Art comes back most people will be able to listen.
