Finally got to listen to the RCH show. One of the better interviews with him I've heard. Good stuff.

Two hours LIVE tonight at 11 Pacific/2 Eastern including an interview with Nicholas DeLeon of @circa talking cutting edge technology, Amazon drones, self-driving cars and more, then open lines and emails.

I enjoyed the show. Your love of the craft really shows.

I wasn't able to listen to the RCH show (FSU beats Duke - Pasadena bound, woohoo). The others you have posted on SoundCloud have been terrific. I'm looking forward to the latest.

Tonight I flipped on MSNBC to see SANDRA FLUKE is a contributor? Sandra Fluke, whose claim to fame was being called a slut. And over on Fox, bloated Karl Rove is showing O'Reilly some chart he drew up. Quality programming, guys.

Karl Rove makes my ass crave buttermilk. I couldn't care less for Sandra Fluke either.

You all come to the defense of this "Faulkie" guy after he tries to pull rank in this forum? You people are more pathetic than I thought. I think Art Bell is good at what he does. You people are losers. You deserve each other.

I come here to get only news about Art Bell quitting Dark Matter. Not to read your resume. And now there's a better than even chance pictures of fat guys at computers are about to plaster this thread.

Are you joking? You pull rank in a forum? You are a narcissist in it's truest form. There are many here. Age? I'm in my 40's. I'm no kid. You're a former blog? I'm a Network Engineer. I don't blog for a living. I write routing costs and design network topologies for a living. You are out of your league.

WTF!? This is an Art Bell Quits Dark Matter thread!

No apologies necessary. Great news and a great stroy.

:D

I like deep fried turkey the best, too. My wife likes to brine the turkey and it's really good as well.

As far as whiskey goes, I lean heavily in the bourbon direction. Favorites include: Four Roses Small Batch, Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig 12, Michters 10, Widow Jane & Booker's (but water it down, Christ almighty it's strong).

I've seen the Four Roses Brand and have wanted to try it. I think I'll start with that. Thanks for the suggestions.

Quote from: Ravenna on November 24, 2013, 01:39:56 PMI've never tried Glenmorganie (did I spell that right?):  now you've got me curious.  Cutty Sark was my go to scotch when I was younger; then I tried Chivas and Cutty didn't cut it any more.  But if I'm really low on funds, I'll still buy Cutty on occasion, and enjoy it.  Probably the best of the cheaper blended scotches out there.

It's spelled Glenmorangie. The last part rhymes with orange-ee. I really enjoy it. It was the first single malt I ever tried, so I have a certain loyalty to it.

But most of us take dead horse beating as the highest of art forms.  I am hoping that we can drag this out to at least 1000 pages.  A few more trolls, another couple posts from Art and a short post from Noory and this will be at 1000 before you know it.

I don't necessarily disagree. I just hope Art doesn't continue to lower himself into the gutter with us riffraff.

I'm no expert at the internets, but it seems shit has gotten way out of hand. If you want to disagree with what Art has done, fine disagree. I did and now I'm over it. That horse has been beaten for 632 pages and died somewhere around page 400. I said things I meant, and stand by, but over time my position has changed and I've forgiven Art. Nostalgia and gratitude for his years on air will do that. Not that he should give a whit about my forgiveness because we forgive for ourselves, not the forgiven.

The one thing I can say is I always tried to tailor my words to what I'd be willing to say to someone's face. I understand with the level of anonymity here comes a greater level of "courage." People post things they would never say to someone's face. I get that and it makes for some lively and enjoyable exchanges, but to come here, or anywhere else, and post the contemptible trash I read about someone's family is bullshit. It makes all of your other words meaningless. They deserve no consideration and have no merit. You're nothing more than the equivalent of an angry adolescent banging away at a keyboard; trying your best to shock and cause needless pain with your asinine commentary.

A coward like you will certainly die a thousand deaths. Hiding behind your words and the safety of distance and facelessness the internet provides.

Art, pay this scumbag and others like him no attention. They're beneath your consideration and deserve only silence. The reaction is what they seek and is the only victory they will ever know. Don't give it to them.

Awesome thread. I love whiskies, but am certainly not an aficionado. My go to whiskies are: single malt - Glenmorangie, The Original, blended - Johnny Walker Black Label, American - Maker's Mark. All are worth a try.

Chesty...have a ? Are you USMC? I heard a comment the other... (if anyone knows please post answer?) as we all know the best rifle shots and the most stringent and strenuous requirements in our regular military forces today as to longarms training is in the USMC...the comment I heard was that where ever it was the Lee Oswald did his USMC basic training he either has or had held the record for the best and longest shot at the rifle range while he was there...every Marine a riflemen. Read the story of WWI and the USMC at Belleau wood in France...where they got the name "devil dogs." If any one without very specialized sniper training could have made those shots, IMHO it would have been a US Marine.

Yes, I was in the Marine Corps quite a while ago (1985-89). The course we shot then was known as the Known Distance or KD course and consisted of relays shot from 200, 300, and 500 yards. When I was in we qualified with the M16A1. I would guess Oswald qualified on an M1 Garand. I can't say what the qualifications were in the 1950's, but would guess they were similar to what I did. The phrase every Marine a rifleman is preached, and taken seriously, by the Marines. The longest shot taken in Dallas is estimated at 81 meters (about 88 yards). If he had a little time on weapon, the shot would have been very doable. The only factors that could effect that are time and the obvious pressure. I have never heard of Oswald holding a record for best or longest shot. From what I've read, he was pretty much a shitbird with some disciplinary issues and took an early out on a hardship discharge. Marines from his unit claimed he was not known for his marksmanship, but again the shots taken that day weren't overly difficult for someone with a little training.

Let me get this right; (Hypothesis), if a guest goes on GN show he's crap, and GN is stupid for inviting them, yes? If that same guest went on AB's show (Assuming AB had a show of course), and AB is given the benefit of the doubt?

Yeah, makes sense if you suffer some disconnect in critical thinking.

I was merely pointing out that the guest made a fallacious statement as to the need to re-zero a weapon after disassembly and reassembly. Provided nothing affected the scope settings, the rifle would have been perfectly accurate after it was put back together. I don't care who the host was, I would have called BS on that guest's statement.
