I'm amazed that Cruz has any support left among the evangelicals. You can't be a real Christian and employ the nasty campaign tactics that he uses. The man makes me want to barf.

Except that, as FTF referenced Matt Walsh earlier, many "evangelicals" actually voted TRUMP for the money blessings.  Besides, most evangelicals relish their false piety and self satisfied sense of moral superiority; using an emissary like Cruz to accomplish their goals can be rationalized (no matter how vile the tactics).

Yeah, I know that type, the sleazy evangelical. They'll cut your throat in a business deal, but put on the mantle of piety when they want to project superiority. These types usually precede their name with "Reverend" interestingly enough.

Around here they call them "Pastor" and they are too busy bitching about taxes to tend to the flock.

Like that was one of the exit poll questions.JFC. The talking heads can't figure out why people are voting for Trump so they are making up shit to be able to write an article and get page views. People are pissed off at politicians. Plain and simple. An "evangelical" can get just as pissed off as anyone else.

And if they were using an emissary like Cruz, why did they vote for Trump. Your arguments are specious.

JFC your ownself.  It wasn't a polling question; as you failed to observe, FTF quoted Matt Walsh, the douchebag conservative blogger. (http://themattwalshblog.com/  http://gawker.com/jesus-would-hate-this-christian-blogger-just-as-much-as-1707080093 )

1) Evangelicals are pissed off all the time because they aren't publicly lauded for their piety as they feel they should be.

2) Many voted for Trump because they are mendicants who lap up this "pray for money" bullshit they preach on Trinity Broadcasting.  Trump's got money.  Ergo, Trump + Jesus = $ for me.

3) Others voted for Cruz because, no matter how unethical and illegal his campaign tactics, their sanctimonious ends are met.

Specious, hell. Way to keep one dimensional thinking in vogue, BTW...

So because "evangelicals" didn't vote for any of the establishment candidate, someone has to make up conjecture on why they voted for Trump.

I still say the primary reasons people are voting for Trump is because they are sick and tired of being sold a bill of goods from both parties and they want a wall built on the southern border.

If the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup again this year, we might have to build one along the northern border.

If I take the istandwith quiz, I come up most closely aligned with Cruz. I have decided not to vote for him in the primary, even though he has a pretty good chance of winning Texas.

1. He has been running for President ever since his first day in the Senate
2. He is a first term Senator. The last one we elected didn't do so well
3. He has no executive experience. He has managed small teams of attorneys. Not much more executive experience than a community organizer.

That being said, if he ends up being the nominee I will vote for him. Just like I voted for Romney, he has become my second choice.

Thanks Gabrielle... I'll stay serious for a bit too. I served during the relative comfort of the Cold War. If I had stayed in, I may have been involved in the first Gulf War. I enlisted after we pulled out of Vietnam. I am proud of my service, but I am no hero. I just did my job.

I am humbled by those that served before me and after me. Those are the heroes. Especially the ones that signed up in the late 70s, early 80s for the reserves and national guard. As the active duty military downsized, they became a larger part of our country's defense strategy. They signed up as "Weekend Warriors" and ended up having to pull tour after tour of active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

When you signed up for active duty, you knew your life was no longer your own. When you signed up as a reservist, you still lived in your hometown and still had to maintain your civilian career. Many households were not prepared for 2, 3, even 4 deployments as a reservist or guardsman to a war zone.

They may call WWII vets the Greatest Generation, but the people sent to Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan are all special and are all heroes in my eyes. Our Veterans Administration is a disgrace. Some foundations like the Wounded Warriors try and pick up some of the slack, but PTSD is real, and so are all the lasting disabilities that resulted from those wars.

Our government should be ashamed of the way our vets are treated. They should be first in line at the hospital of their choosing.

this is a perfect example of what i can't stand about cruz's fundamentalist brand of "conservatism."  he has to pull the ad because, in his mind, the rubes out there can't separate an advertisement inadvertently featuring a soft-core porn star from ted cruz endorsing porn.  what if it were learned the set on which an ad was filmed had previously been used to produce porn?  or the camera?  i think all ted cruz ads should be pulled when it's learned they're being viewed on a computer monitor or phone previously used to watch porn.
He was afraid that his supporters would recognize her.  She's on late night HBO and Showtime regularly displaying her bare-assed moaning talent.
"Look at that woman, Aaron, I've seen that face before".
"Hell, Brianna, you saw a lot more of her than her face Sunday night when we watched that naughty movie on cable."

Well, look, you grew up a fat, pantie-waist, chump who learned about the world from your sofa.  I, on the other hand,  learned about the world, up-close and personal, while serving with honor and distinction, all over the globe, in places that you`ve only seen on your television. We`ll just leave it at that.

So you were some military welfare queen?  Protecting our "freedoms" overseas?

lol

Go fuck yourself and your self righteousness about your military service.  If you are too stupid to understand what a pawn you are for corporate interests and less about serving your country, then really Ted Cruz is the guy for you.

in that case, i guess my question to the cruz campaign would be, "so what if they did?"

by pulling the ad, cruz squandered a major opportunity to beat trump at his own game.  he should have refused to pull the ad and defended the woman.  this would have shown cruz to be a little more interesting than the greasy two dimensional ned flanders moralist revival creep we otherwise believe him to be, inviting lots of trump supporters to give him a second look.  instead, he's chosen to project the message that a woman who pretends to fuck on film can't possibly have a reason to support him.  this says a whole lot more about cruz than it says about the woman.  if cruz had chosen to defend the ad and the woman, it could have changed the dynamic of the race for him as it relates to trump.  instead of being the thin lipped moralist, he would have seemed like a forgiving and inviting realist who understands the imperfection of people, hopes they change, but doesn't judge them.  cruz only wants to appeal to a tiny portion of the electorate, apparently, and that's fine, but it won't win national elections in 2016, a time when most americans are busy stressing over jobs, illegal immigration, and finding porn sites without malware.

he makes me wonder, is it common for US military personnel to view civilian political commentary with such contempt?  or is he just that shitty a representative of the armed forces?  after all, his repeated fallback is his illustrious military career which supposedly should elevate his opinion on world affairs to "final word" status.

all of that aside, he does have about 500 acres of land.

I think they both are shitty representatives of whatever they think they represent. 8 years in the USAF did not breed contempt for civilians, but for 8 years, I was a volunteer and certainly not a welfare queen. So, they are both wrong.

I completely agree with you about this.  Cruz is not going to expand his base with shit like this. So what if she makes Skinemax soft-core porn?  I mean I bet Ted probably would have watched all of her flicks if they had come out in the late 80's.  Hell, he would have liked to produce them and I'm sure act in some scenes.

This isn't meant as an insult.

Do you know what Heidi did outside of work?  I could check into it but she probably did help the needy as they are church people.

No, I never took the test. I did have a 4.0 GPA average in college though.  Business degree with a focus on economics, marketing and computer science.

He's doing it to Rubio now. It's amazing to me that people still find the guy trustworthy after he's publically demonstrated that he's willing to lie and go to any length to secure the nomination.

here's something from ted's dad:

Quote
My son Ted and his family spent six months in prayer seeking God's will for this decision. But the day the final green light came on, the whole family was together. It was a Sunday. We were all at his church, First Baptist Church in Houston, including his senior staff. After the church service, we all gathered at the pastor's office. We were on our knees for two hours seeking God's will. At the end of that time, a word came through his wife, Heidi. And the word came, just saying, "Seek God's face, not God's hand." And I'll tell you, it was as if there was a cloud of the holy spirit filling that place. Some of us were weeping, and Ted just looked up and said, "Lord, here am I, use me. I surrender to you, whatever you want." And he felt that was a green light to move forward.

this sounds like the same decision process GWB used in the run up to the iraq war:

Quote
President Jacques Chirac wanted to know what the hell President Bush had been on about in their last conversation. Bush had then said that when he looked at the Middle East, he saw "Gog and Magog at work" and the biblical prophecies unfolding. But who the hell were Gog and Magog? Neither Chirac nor his office had any idea. But they knew Bush was an evangelical Christian, so they asked the French Federation of Protestants, who in turn asked Professor Römer.

He explained that Gog and Magog were, to use theological jargon, crazy talk. They appear twice in the Old Testament, once as a name, and once in a truly strange prophecy in the book of Ezekiel.

because of this thinking, ted cruz has no business commanding the US armed forces.  i'm repulsed by the thought.

See, that kind of stuff is just creepy. It's religious extremism. There is religion and there is delusion, and anyone that would make a decision factoring in religious experiences rather than rational thinking is behaving dangerously and irresponsibly.

It amazes me that people think Trump is the dangerous candidate when Cruz would ask God for an omen to tell him what to do in the face of a nuclear confrontation with Russia over a Syrian no-fly zone. Same with GWB, the POTUS does not need to be spending his time thinking about how to bring about the end times. That should just outright be off the table.

This is what happens when you don't have executive experience. You find it hard to surround yourself with the right people. Hard to say you know how to pick a cabinet, when this is your choice for communications director, and you can't keep him on the farm.

I think so to... Trouble is that it won't spiral fast enough to hurt him in Texas. Now I wish we hadn't pulled forward into Super Tuesday. The way they win delegates here is pretty complex, but he could end up taking most of them as long as he stays above 30% statewide.  I don't think Trump will beat him in Texas.
