When I signed up on this site in 2012 the site was about C2C.  While politics was part of the discussion it wasn't a part of every discussion .  The number of wingnuts and moonbats were about equal and they not pervade all areas of the site.

All that has changed and this site is now largely, in my opinion, a right-wing echo chamber of nonsense in each and every thread.  I want no part of it and asked MV to remove my account.  I use the awake moniker on other sites and I simply don't want it here any longer so I asked MV to delete my account.  I think I was polite about it and I don't think it would take more than a few minutes of his time but so far I've been rudely rebuffed.
One receipt of my first request his response was "later".
I sent another note attempting to again ask to simply have my account deleted and the reply from MV was "go fuck yourself".

So what does it take to disassociate ones self from a site that was once enjoyable but has since metastasized into something you find repellent?

I could make enough rude posts to get myself banned but then I'd be a part of the problem.  So I'm asking, how do I get my account name off of the roles here?  It's such a small request that I'm baffled by MV's rudeness.  I don't "own" the name Awake of course but it is something I use often. 

I don't know if what I'm requesting is some kind of internet faux pas or if I've broken some other taboo but this seems like maybe three mouse clicks and done.  I hope I guess that MV is embarrassed enough by this post to grant my request.  I supposed his other option would be to delete my post and then I'll have choice but to get banned purposely but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

The Clash of Clans video game is based on playing with a group(clan).  It is currently popular on the iOS and Android platforms.  As an atheist and gamer I've put together a clan for other atheists, "Atheist Attack". 


This post is purely to announce this new player's group for Clash of Clans.  We offer an active group of players, tips and playing advice as well as atheist/freethinking/humanist resources.

I stumbled on this while looking for interesting podcasts, I think it's the best podcast available in the ufo, bigfoot, ghost realm.  The hosts are believers but they don't simply credulously accept every story which hits the news, there is actually a bit of critical thinking which occurs!  The Australian point of view is interesting and takes them out of the polarized politics of Wells & Snoory.  They sometime disagree with each other but they are never disagreeable.  I personally really enjoy the music which is played as well.  When I listen to C2C I scowl and when I listen to this I smile, even though they cover the same general material.  As a skeptic it is fun to hear these topics discussed by people who seem to have their feet firmly on the ground.

Ok, I'm not strong with the mathematics that's I why marjored in marketing.  So I need someone else to figure an equation for me please.  Let me describe my hypothesis; I see a correlation between the number of random references to sci fi movies and how unhinged a particular guest becomes over the course of the interview.  There may also be a relation to the amount of stammering as the guest becomes more excited as his/her clearly insane thoughts start to pile up against one another.  I cannot offer remuneration beyond my admiration, but if the spirit moves you to action...

Kathleen Marden (b.a. social work and certification in hypnotherapy), niece? of Betty & Barney Hill will be on tonight and I'm puzzled by her story. 

She does a lot of interviews and states at various times that she wrote the first book because she was "haunted" by what had happened to Betty & Barney in 1961.  She also states that she didn't publicly acknowledge her relationship to them until at the time of incident because she wanted to avoid the media circus the publicity created.  She indeed kept a very low profile until Betty died in '04 but she seems to have gotten over her reticence to deal with the media around 2007, when she and Stanton Friedman published "captured".  Stanton is well known in UFO circles and his involvement along with some others associated with the certified hypnotherapist-writer have caused some in the UFO community to raise eyebrows in caution.  Look to your Google machine for examples.

She was Haunted by the memory of the event?
In some of her many interviews she states that she was haunted by the event; (which didn't happen to her and didn't impact her life according to her interview linked below) and that is why she and Stanton Friedman wrote a book in 2007 about the abduction.  Because, you know, everything is clearer 46 years after the event and after her aunt and uncle have died.

I am wondering how that haunted feeling manifested itself and why it took until 3 years after Betty Hill had died for her to decide to publish a book about the Hills. 

She didn't reveal herself for fear of the media circus:
What has mitigated her fear of the media, which had been so strong that she didn't publicly acknowledge her relationship to the Hills until the publication of her first book in 2007?  What changed to allow her to face the media and now make a living off the Hill experience?  Betty's death and Ms. Marden's position as executor of Betty's estate?

I wonder about how she overcame the fear of media scrutiny to become the bon-vivant lecturer and author after retiring from professional life.

Timeline:
The hills experience happens in 1961, becomes publicly known in 1965, Barney died in 1969, Betty Hill died in 2004.  Not until 2007 does Kathleen Marden co-write her first book "captured" with Stanton Friedman and begin her life as a ufo investigator, writer.

I also wonder about the ENTIRE timeline associated with the Hills and Ms. Marden's involvement with that timeline.

A bit more about Kathleen:
In an article from a New Hampshire paper, (see the link: http://www.seacoastonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070708/ENTERTAIN/707080308), she notes that she wasn't particularly impacted by the event (the Hills abduction and media frenzy). 


My Question:
Did Ms. Marden, who was retired and had been made the executor of Betty Hill's estate in 2004, see an opportunity to possibly improve her retirement income by flogging a book with Friedman?  I don't know; but the whole story seems to be one improbable event stacked upon another topped (possibly) with a little opportunism.  The truth is out there folks and now you have a bit more information on the subject.  Hope that makes listening to yet another Betty and Barney Hill show a bit more enlightening.

I remember last year when a caller first mentioned "Black Eyed Children" to a guest.  My recollection is that the guest had heard similar stories while the host (Noory?) hadn't.  My overriding memory is how thrilled the host was with this new thread of ridiculousness.  Fast forward to the most recent show with this theme and these kids are now potentially demons who reek of sulfur. 
Jesus weeps; is nothing beyond reason for this show anymore?  Hollow earth, hole in the arctic/antarctic, UFO's draining Streiber of semen, apartments on Mars, now alien eyed kids of satan who want nothing more than to come visit people; Does it EVER just get too silly?
Has this forum ever attempted to "spike" C2C with a Meme of it's own creation?  If not we could certainly come up with one which should touch all the right "hot buttons" and then inject it into the show.  It might be fun craft such a beast and then turn it loose into the C2C wild?  Thoughts?
