Radio and Podcasts / Why not sell C2C year by year on CD?
September 06, 2014, 09:04:35 AM
I was just thinking about how awesome the Art Bell collection is and how all of these shows are almost nowhere, the only reason they exist is because a few souls were gracious enough to rip old tapes onto Mp3s. The shows must exist somewhere officially though, why not package and sell them? They would get a pretty penny for them (although maybe not since we all have the archives). It's just so strange to think of intangible radio shows are.

Anyone know where I could find a good Dreamland archive?

Radio and Podcasts / How long did Art do Dreamland for?
September 04, 2014, 03:46:51 PM
I'm just wondering. The archives doesn't have any past 96. Another thing about Dreamland is both The Quickening and The Source mention how Art talked  about paranormal topics in Dreamland but say basically nothing about C2C. When did Coast start to deal primarily with the paranormal? Going back to the archive it seems like 95-96 is when  more topics came along. 93 and 94 had a few though.

Radio and Podcasts / Re: Credible Art guests (and hello)
September 03, 2014, 04:45:20 PM
I feel like a good portion of guests were creditable . Certainly a lot of guests, Friedman, Lear, Davenport, Howe and other people looking into Paranormal phenomenon.

I also think people doing research were creditable, that doesn't necessarily mean they are 100 % right.   A good example would be John Rhodes. They look into ancient mysteries and did a lot of research. Does that mean that, like rhodes says, that there a lizard people? Not really but he found links between them and the UFO phenomenon. Anyone seriously researching things I think is credible because no matter how crazy their ideas they are investigating the unknown so its hard to discredit them. Hoagland does not fit into this category because looking at pictures and saying all other facts are hidden by NASA is not research.

Thats not saying that there weren't the crazy people who were 99.99-100 % fake like the witches, time travelers, Mel, abductees which insanely complex stories. Pamela the lady who had sex with a lizard alien comes to mind. Not to mention Dallas thompson.

Sean David Morton is another one.

I stopped listening to just random shows and started at the beginning of the archive. Started out with a bang with the 92 lear and Lazar interview and one of my personal favorites the Ghost to Ghost of 93 the first one he did. Then I got to the Philadelphia experiment which was total BS. I was actually into it for a while then Al jumped into 1984 and had to go back in time to save the world...
Decided to finish Dreamlands since I heard most of them. All the ET ones I've hear so far were great (peter davenport, Roswell, linda howe) but then I got to another crock  Sean David Morton (I listen at work so I usually just throw a ton on my mp3 player).

Here is what  Sean David Morton predicted

-by early 2000 parts of California will be in the water
-1999 NYC gets nuked
-by 2005 America breaks up into many separate countries

The above post is 100 % correct if you didn't see 9/11 your defiantly not a profit.

Listening to old Dreamlands and another 'futurists' threw Scallion under the bus by pointing out that Micheal had been predicting a 9.0 earthquake in California since 1990 or something. Still haven't seen it. The only thing Art claims scallion got right was that the ring of fire would erupt. Apparently it did a little bit but nothing earth shattering or even close to mentioning. Apparently they just guess natural disasters in obvious places (volcanoes, fault lines ect) until they get it right.

The map was suppose to be the world in 2002 as stated in the source. I can't find the book on amazon.

Radio and Podcasts / Best C2C year?
September 01, 2014, 08:55:10 AM
Listening to the archives and I gotta say 97 was my favorite year. You got Area 51 call in show, Mel's Hole, Harlot, Area 51 fly over, Phoenix lights, Philip Corso, Witch hunt and all other goodies. Whats the best year in your opinion?

Technically I never "read" the art of talk but I heard the audio version. It was really good to hear the story read by the man himself. He even took advantage of the medium and played the coast theme at the start and the Bigfoot scream. It really made the whole book come alive. It was interesting but I'm more interested in the topics on Coast than Art himself (not that Art is boring I just don't really like biographies) so the Source wins out for me. I might pick up the Art of Talk and actually read it because I was so impressed with the audio book.

It was ripped from a cassette the quality does improve though.

I always thought that the story of it being a bottomless pit sounded credible when he talked about lowering the fishing wire which was weighted. I think the story started unravelling when a guy called or faxed in saying that after a certain amount of fishing wire was lowered in it would feel like it was still being lowered when in actual fact it might have already hit the bottom and it's own weight was making it appear as if it was still being lowered.

Yeah I agree. There was a hole nearish to ellensburgh (as the article I posted showed, it was an old mine shaft) but it was not owned by anyone. If Mel but any line into the hole that's probably what happened, the line got weighed down. At first he was like OMG!! Then he heard this and was like crap there goes my story and invented the military taking his property.

Everytime I listen to old shows Art talks in reverence of gordon michael scallionas if he was always right, but reading the Source it says that he wrote about how the sea levels would drastically change by 2002. None of that happened. So What is Art talking about? Is he ever right? Most 'futurists' or 'prophets' on the show are total crocks in my opinion. I don't mind people making predictions but when their whole job is to make prediction and they're wrong 99- 100 % of the time it gets annoying.

Anyone else wonder why the map in ellensburg was whited out? Its really the only thing close to "proof" that has ever come out of these crazy stories.
#1695
The lady that had sex with the alien lizard. I don't know if she was crazy or just interested in Coast and scifi. She clearly just made the story up to get on coast and sell her dumb CDs where she sings about aliens. Art handled it well though and made the show fun.

EDIT: oh and Dallas Thompson of course!

Radio and Podcasts / where to get MP3s?
August 28, 2014, 08:31:39 PM
Where can I get some classic shows form C2C and Dreamland for downloading on Mp3? I've been listening on youtube. Sadly I don't know much about downloading stuff from the web but I do have utorrent if that helps.

I don't hate noory as much as some people but Art is so much better its hard to even compare them. He still has some good guests and topics like the Black eyed kids and the story of people missing in the wilderness. Still its these guests who basically carry the show. Noory really doesn't add anything, doesn't ask the tough questions.

Open lines is horrendous with him. He lets people drone on and on forever. If he has a really good guest or topic I'll listen but otherwise he is bland. Art on the other hand made EVERY topic interesting. I found myself listening to topics like global warming and still being entertained. Art really couldn't go wrong and made every wide topic fun.

I agree that it was enjoyable from a B-grade movie guilty pleasure perspective but it jumped the shark from being a "believable/it could be true if you're willing to suspend a little bit of belief" story to a "hey bud I think you better put the crack pipe down" kinda story.

It seemed plausible when it was just a seemingly bottomless pit that animals were afraid of being near. Then it became a three ringed circus act. Then he got a bazillion dollars from the government, moved to Australia, spent it all and then came back and found another bottomless pit. What are the odds?

Thats kind of where I'm at. I still think there might be a hole somewhere that is insanely deep, and certainly there were stories about it before Mel called. The second hole was clearly fake and the burning ice. It just went out of control.

If you make a youtube channel and upload those, you'll have lots of subs.

Even the commericals on it would be great. We could compare how many breaks Art used back then, vs C2C today.

^ yes please do so, would be eternally grateful

I like most of his guests. My favorites are

Father Malachi Martin

graham hancock - lost civilization theory is extremely interesting, just bought his book.

Mel - Interesting stories, not selling anything.

Linda Howe (her voice annoys me sometimes though, not a radio voice) - good researcher wide range of topics

Michio Kaku - makes science interesting

There are so many I cant remember the names of too. Generally Art is very good with picking guests. The only people I really dislike are prophets who just say gloom and doom and make predictions that are always false.

Paranormal - Conspiracy - UFOs - Etc. / Re: JC

I agree he laughs sometimes while talking.

Ok apparently there was no Mel Water's listed as a property owner anywhere near Ellensburg.

http://www.dailyrecordnews.com/top_story/getting-to-the-bottom-of-mel-s-hole/article_d72b6a68-7ac2-11e1-b3ce-001a4bcf887a.html

So where does this leave us? I think he was clearly lying about his property but if you notice all of the crazy stories he tells on the air, the dog Resurrection, Stonehenge columns, light coming from the hole  were all stuff that he heard from neighbors. Lots of people in the area tell stories of a hole long before mel came on. Several faxes Art received confirm this.

So what was any of it true? Like it says in the article I think Mel found that hole mentioned or one like it and collected stories from neighbors and told them on the air. I think he got carried away and invented the whole second hole story because its kinda crazy from that point on.

I still think Mel's hole is a great story.

I'm more than halfway through the source and I gotta say I'm loving it! Its like a coast to coast chronicle even mentioning guests and quoting from interviews. Its just wonderful.

The Quickening on the other hand... Chapter six was good (a lot of it later used in the source) but aside from that I was kinda bored with it.

What did you guys think of the source? I never heard him mention it but then again I haven't heard too many shows around when it came out.

They are all on youtube. The first one was my favorite. Its all about demons and not as much about the Vatican. All of his appearances were good though.
#1707
I agree I love hearing him on the show. All the ancient civilization topics are  my favorite.
#1708
Hi all,
Has Art ever done a show or had a guest on that spoke about Stonehenge? I heard an old Graham Hancock interview about a lost civilization and absolutely loved it. As the name suggests I am very interested in Stonehenge and wonder if it was ever discussed in detail. Art makes a quick mention of the monolith in the Quickening but I never heard a show about it.
