"So the question is, for a fringe style show, would you rather the host challenge the guests with respect or just allow the story, inaccuracies and contradiction just slide?

Should the show be total escapism or entertainment with a foot still grounded in skepticism?

Just asking for a friend. ;)

DS"

Respectfully challenge please.  Don't be a dick about things, but please call out blatant uncomposted bovine feces.

*Edited because I can't quote properly.  I need more coffee.

Do it your way of course.

I think that questioning shifty guests is welcome, especially as they've gotten away with vague bs for so long, at the same listeners love the escapism aspect because we need a break from the mundane mathematical certainties.   Skepticism also makes us question what the masters of reality are feeding us little earthlings.

Know the answer before asking the question.... Don't let them tell you things unchallenged you know are either not scientifically possible or so vague as to be them winging it.

I bought the first edition copy of 'Dark Moon' By David Percy and one of the photos was captioned something along the lines of 'Temporal disturbance in the space time continuum thingy' Bullshit. It was clearly camera shake and I wrote to the publisher and told them so. The reply was along the lines of 'David Percy is a photographer and wouldn't do that'...I replied via email 'So am I, and yes he has'.

Take the same attitude, don't be fobbed off.

Heather claims to be friends with the owner of KCAA out of Loma Linda... So, somehow, she needs a dump button for that station and that station alone. This is, of course the day after a horrible debut in which she didn't have a dump button then.

For the sake of her "friend," I hope she doesn't pull a Joe Meth.

I am curious though, how did she become friends with this person? I mean, is it a friendship based off of a personal relationship or is it a friendship based on a co-dependent need for her show to be aired on some sort of terrestrial radio station and she gives him telephone BJ's?

Asking for a "friend."

ShitShowJoe (alias Joe Meth) was also a "friend".  Either he dumped her, or she dumped him.  How good of friends is that?  MichaelWhiskeySourVara is now her "friend" until he sobers up.  I can't see this deal lasting very long.  She is already planning her next move after Vara.  See a pattern here?  KR or anyone else that sues her or exposes her is doing her a huge favor.  Otherwise sooner or later she will run into somebody that will seriously figure her out, and the outcome of that will be far worse than renaming her little shitshow.  Just my opinion folks.

Exactly what I was saying...you don't have to know everything, but it does need to be discussed and reviewed before the show...the host is basically an advocate for their audience. Therefore, the host will anticipate what the audience will want asked, and how far to push the matter in order to get more clarification.

If you are doing a paranormal/fringe show there has to be a certain amount of suspending disbelief or you'll wear out Heather's dump button. That being said I think you already have developed a good sense of when to herd the guest back into some level of cognitive entertainment. Love you're healthy skepticism and sense of humor.  I know you have plans to branch out into different subjects which is desperately needed in this field. Science, crime, mysteries, history. Just please, God, no politics

My two cents of advice to someone who already knows a hell of a lot more than I do about running a fringe show and keeping it entertaining. Nice to have a pro behind the mic

Does Lasha specialise as her PR? I thought she was an all rounder; Part bouncer, part psychic (Why didn't she see this trainwreck coming?) part moderator, part dump button seeker...

What's the quickest way to get someone to love you? Reflect them in what you do and say. Your voice, your mannerisms..  if the person falls for you, or wants to work with you (despite saying they don't want a replacement whose trying to be them), then that says more about that person then it probably does the one doing the mimicking.    Art seems to have really fucking fallen for it.  Art was pretty damn full of himself. I don't know if he was a narcissist (which is what I think Heather is), but we all heard him read his own book.  He thought he was the Shit.
It can be somewhat apparent if you are aware but "mirroring" or "mimicking" is basic sales technique. Using same language, body posture, speech patterns, etc as customer.

Somehow I'm guessing that the gabcast does not use delay dumps... But I assume you have some idea of them.  Are they really difficult to find or hook in?  I can't help but assume that there are even software versions that could be put into place in 10 minutes?

Maybe I'm wrong.  There is just a great overwhelming smell of BS coming from her statement.  Hell, she could even have done a show without open lines (she damn near did yesterday night, anyhow.)

There are software dumps, but the credible ones are expensive. Hardware delay dumps can easily exceed a thousand dollars, even when pre owned. There are homebrew solutions to creating a delay dump system, but you have to know what you're doing and it's also not without cost.

I’m all for some questioning, but when it comes to things like alien abduction, Bigfoot, etc.. belief is already suspended. If you’re a skeptic, great. But many are true believers, and many believe the stories they’re telling. (Everyone’s reality, or perception thereof, will be different). So it’s about knowing when something is utter bullshit, and it makes sense to stop them.. and knowing when you can/should let them tell their story.

You’ve been doing this for a while, Dave. I’m gonna trust you know what you’re doing.

Please tell your friend that brig said to keep doing what he's doing.  Please don't become just the same as all the rest.

But it's up to you and your friend really.  If you enjoy what you're doing, you'll do it well.

While it is nice to see the humility and openness for a change in interview style, I like you just the way you are
Be yourself and react to the situation and circumstance. If you smell bullshit then poke and prod a little, with respect, to flush out the information or verify the guest's view points.

I am a bit perplexed by the recent change to use the 'best in fringe talk radio' tagline. I find the word a bit denigrating towards the subjects and guests, even if they are by definition 'fringe'.
But it just might be my perceived connotation of the word.
