I'm more open to the idea that there may've perhaps been a much larger protohuman race related to us, much in the same way that dinosaurs supposedly evolved into smaller birds.
Quote from: Walks_At_Night on July 03, 2018, 08:20:02 PMi agree
If you are going to muck around in the fstab, do take care. You can make a mess in there. Review the change you made before you
reboot. A typo can lead to a boot problem that can cost you some time to fix if you haven't done it before.
Also, it is a good practice to refer to your disks by their UUID as opposed to their label. That can save you some heart burn down
the road if you add or remove disks. More info is here
Quote from: Dr. MD MD on July 03, 2018, 07:26:39 PMhow about a show with bateman?
If he'd do a show on batman or batmen in general...maybe.
Quote from: Juan on July 03, 2018, 10:13:05 AMvery quickly and simply usb/sata drives are called /dev/sdX where X is a letter a-z in the order bios presents them.
This is good stuff
I think one thing that confuses me as an infrequent Linux/BSD user is the file system. With Windows, I’m used to setting up folders on distifferent drives and being able to find things. With other OS, including Apple, you seem to dump everything into one place. Maybe i’m wrong.

who knows how long they have known about exploits such as intel ME and spectre/meltdown; i suspect at least 10 years.

Sure it does.
(I get what you're saying though)
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clarify.

But like I implied, properly set up, and properly used, Tor can be a useful tool.

Quote from: Dyna-X on June 24, 2018, 02:54:37 PMthis is a wall wart :
I had never heard the term "wall wart*" before, but if she meant the 12 VDC line that runs from the adapter to the router was what was cut or broken that could be partially chewed by a mouse and intermittently shorting before the insulation finally broke leaving the oxidized wires like she said. The battery backup in the router could have kept her online, but an intermittent short in this line may have been what drained and/or blew a fuse in the big UPS battery backup.
*wall wart = adapter = combination ac to dc rectifier and step down transformer

Unless you're actually playing records on a turntable this is blatant false advertising. You may hear from Bart Ell's attorneys.
Quote from: BellHop on June 17, 2018, 08:23:53 PMi have a mixer, a mic , and several computers. i use the free mixxx software (which has its problems, but is still very good), and stream it to my VPS running icecast. thusly i have control over every aspect and can tweak it as i need to.
How do you do this, out of curiosity?

Quote from: (Sandman) Logan-5 on June 15, 2018, 09:15:21 PMit is not the "ultimate anonymity engine" , that does not exist.
Right on.
Yeah, I have a tendency to stay away from German sites.
Startpage and searx.me are also pretty good as far as privacy goes.

TOR can be used as the ultimate anonymity engine, but most people will have to change their browsing habits to maintain that status and not be unmasked.
(Someone needs to write a tutorial on that.)
'Til tomorrow everyone.

Hey everyone
So it seems I have Windows 10 Updates for all my nightmares. LOL
We are back up and running after a very expensive overhaul of the systems and updates on every driver I have and new equipment that is compatible.
Again, I appreciate your patience during this very irritating hiccup in the systems and look forward to getting back on tonight's show.
No tears, no finger pointing, just an a host unsure how to keep up with all of today's technology but quickly learning.
Tidepods my friends!
