OK, what would? Does pissing off other countries make more sense than international restrictions? I don't know what the reasoning was for blocking the signal. I am pretty sure pissing someone off wasn't it.

I suppose I should repent for recording tapes of my records for my walkman in the 80's.  ::)

We get that here too After Brewers and Packers games! Enough already, they have to over analyze and take calls from viewers to beat the subject from every play of the game into the ground ::) Thankfully with iHeart and Tune-In radio Apps for the iPhone and Android phone you can find a talk radio station far away that has no big sports team in the area. They have C2C and SIT playing on Saturday nights.

Sports talk has got to be for the brain-dead.  It's nothing but: "We ran hard, played hard, threw the ball, kicked the ball, made a touchtown, yeah this team can win, we got winning sprit........"  ENOUGH ALREADY!

First off, Sirius has satelites that cover the American continent. They didn't all get together and decode to "piss" on other countries. More than likely the legalities of broadcasting by satelite are in some way problematic or too costly.

Secondly, you guys might not like what Scottydawg is saying, (it is somewhat hyperbolic) but his point of being illegal is accurate. I am always amazed by juvenile thought which seems to think if someone likes something it cannot possibly be wrong.

I am not saying if you want to stream a program that is not supposed to be streamed to non subscribers you can't do it. Just be adult enough to accept the fact that the act is illegal.

There is such an abundance of lazy thinking with some posters here.

If a tree falls in a forest..  ;D

Anyways, doesn't account for Sirius blocking internet subscriptions overseas.

Settle down Nancy, it's just a small group of coastgabbers getting together for the show.. not like we're rebroadcasting the show world wide on shortwave... hey now that's an idea..   ::)

Also a "pirate" stream is the ONLY option for people overseas who want to listen live, since Sirius blocks anything other than USA and Canada.

My local station is broadcasting a football game instead of Art Bell SIT.
I hope it's just here. Is everyone else receiving SIT?
Where can I go to listen?

That pisses me off when that happens.  I use dar.fm to record it from WNIS but a few weeks ago the first hour was football.
The game actually ended right before SIT was to air, but then they spent an hour discussing the game.  :o
I'm not much of a sports fan so I don't see how much could be said about a fucking ball for an hour.  ::)

yes shoutcast streams are the best and work on a multitude of standalone media player devices including Rokus.  :)

Also as an alternative there's StreamerP2P.  Not as practical as a Shoutcast server, but it's good if you don't have access to one.
Everyone who listens to a stream helps stream it to others listening.

Thats the One!

I would love to hear the famous Orson Wells radio version of War of the worlds. My dad and I were talking about it a while ago, he said the first time he heard it, was  back in the 80's, while driveing from  eastern oregon to his farm in WA after makeing a delivery of hay, on halloween night. He said it was super creepy, on the crackly AM radio with a single speaker in his truck at 1am, all alone, in a area so sparcely populated he dident see a single light from a house.

Here it is:

Orson Welles - War Of The Worlds - Radio Broadcast 1938 - Complete Broadcast.

I've just been to the site to sign up - YOU CAN'T unless your in USA or Canada!

FFFFUUUU

Is someone going to record the shows and put them up on The Pirate Bay?

Please?!

I'm going to MISS the FIRST SHOW!

Look for a proxy in the USA, or use the "Tor Network" to fool the Sirius server into thinking you're in the USA.  ;)

I've wondered if JC is for real, but over 15 years is a long time to keep a running gag going.   If it is a gag, I'd rather not know.  ;D

I'm afraid Stern has that distinction, but Art is certainly no lightweight.

Stern had a lot of listeners on Sirius at first, but that has gradually dwindled to almost none due to Stern's empty promises and lack of talent on the show in the last few years.  He promised "no censorship" and "commercial free".  Now the show is heavily censored, even more so than when he was on regular radio, and they have constant commercials.  The nail in the coffin was when Artie Lange was let go, Stern on his own is a borefest.  Also, Stern ripped off his entire early career directly from bits that were done first by Steve Dahl.  Stern isn't any good unless there's something for him to ripoff or someone to write for him.

Good thing for Sirius that they got Art Bell, otherwise there's really nothing else on there worth listening to.

Thanks Mike! I was hoping to just be able to use an AUX cable from my stereo to my computer, but it created some horrendous noise effects in the recording. Back to the drawing board.

Be sure you are only using the line-in on your soundcard, and a line-out from your stereo.  Using a mic-in or speaker-out may produce hums due to an ohm inbalance.  ;)

I sure hope Art still uses it to open the show.. why not unless Premrat bought the rights to it.  IT'S ART'S SONG!

AM radio has been with me long before the internet and BBS's.  There's something magical about it, even though it doesn't sound as good as FM. It's like you can hear something "spooky" in the background, especially when Dx'ing a far away station at night. Spirits? The Big Bang? Call me weird but it's like joining your mind up with the signal for a ride.  ::)  They better not touch it.

And selling off the analog TV allocations to replace it with the digital crap was beyond stupid.  It was probably just some swine lobbyist to force people in rual areas to buy dishes.  Trouble is there's hardly anything good to watch these days.

You may want to check the torrents listed on here to see if some of those shows are already encoded.

I recently encoded a bunch of old tapes I have (not c2c related), using my JVC tape deck that is 30 years old and still works like new, connected to my SBlive soundcard through the line-in port and recorded with Audacity.  Sounds perfect.  8)

These pricks really are insane. Their lawyers have nothing better to do than troll messageboards looking for 15 year old Art Bell shows?

Sadly it's a whole industry in itself.  Little weasels running around looking for "pirated" media all day.

And if you think that's bad, the record industry even sends out "agents" to small businesses to see if they are playing copyrighted music in their stores/bars/etc.  If so they threaten all this legal shit if they don't purchase a "license".   I say take all the lawyers and burn them, alive.  ;D

I believe premrat. They seem to be wanting to kill the memories of Art.

Makes me despise them more.

I used to force myself to listen to George from time to time. Never again.

All the more reason to liberate the old shows!!  I got torrents seeding like a mofo right now.  ;D

Even if Art owned them 100%, I doubt he would be greedy or stupid enough to issue takedown notices all over the place, unlike SOME radio people (*cough* Hendrie and Dahl *cough*).  All that accomplishes is alienating the fan base and they end up with no fans left.
#26
One question, does Art own all of his old shows, or are they co-owned with PremRat?
#27
Screw these copyright crybabies.  You can't shut down torrents!  ;D

And Streamlink blows goats.  Who the hell wants to pay to download shows without the bumper music?

This has been going on forever, and these idiots still think they can stop sharing.  Back in the 80's the industry wanted to ban VCR's and tape decks LOL.

I have to say....Keith Rowland is a lousy web designer.  Flat, unimaginative 'designs';  I can't see where he has advanced past Mosaic.  I am very disappointed in ArtBell.com

I think it's ok, at least it's not one of those god awful 100% Flash sites with the annoying "Loading..." thing spinning forever.
Anyone who makes all-flash sites should be shot into space, one-way.

Remember, two of the most successful websites ever are Drudgereport and Craigslist, mostly text and no fluff.  It just works..

I prefer to use an older version of uTorrent (1.8.3), I found the newest ones to be bloated and full of crapware.
You can find older ones here: http://www.oldversion.com/windows/utorrent/
