I must admit, guiltily, some schadenfreude when I hear the various news updates what with the Leftist politicians demanding closed borders, no public transport, shutting down of 'music' venues, praising lumber companies to make more paper products, letting truckers and rail deliver products with less regulation, and banning gatherings- even of 'youths.' But, sadly, they also are talking about letting people out of jails- maybe even prison- because that will help the situation.....

Saw an odd Levi's ad promoting the vote, not their product. It was a hodge-podge of various foreigners, minorities, oddballs, prisoners, garb-covered Islamics, etc and set to an Aretha Franklin song. I guess it is an old ad that they are rolling out again. Not sure what the heck is has to do with determining what brand of jeans a person buys. But I won't be buying Levis.

Then just searched for him due to his untimely death and somewhat scandal at the time. and lots of 'allegations' going on. Apparently archive.org is also exhibiting a "take-down" during the lock-down. Apparently some things are not archived due to "item's content?" Curious....

About fucking time.   WWII required a huge build up and build out of forces to absorb, contain and then destroy the Axis.  Ever since then there has been this sustained push to keep the Marine Corps as a second land army.  That was never our focus.  We joke that we are the worlds heaviest light infantry.  Coming thru the surf with up to 140 lbs on our backs, try dropping 4 feet fm a helo as it skids along a rice paddy or the saddle in a ridgeline..... 

We were designed to support Naval Ops.  To kick in the door and fucking breach the enemies defenses so that the Army could land with little interference and move inland to beat the little Chinese fuckers, er, I mean, the enemy.

There have always been those in Congress and elsewhere in government who advocated integration of the Marine Corps into the Army.  Their main argument was that its combat role had evolved beyond that of “Naval Infantry” and had become redundant to that of the Army and its separate outfitting and maintenance was not cost effective.   Marine Corps Commandants and the DON have fought off all attempts to incorporate the Corps into the Army over the years but sometimes just barely.  (I recall reading a piece written by General Walt after he retired as Commandant that described the struggle.). Restructuring of the Corps to focus mainly on littoral operations will ensure its existence for the foreseeable future.  Smart move.
