Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

Seriously, people, post succinct specific examples of what you heard on the NOORY INCOMPETENCE thread so I can include them in my letter to Lisa.  It is so bad now that I just can't bear to document all the hours myself, so please help!

Quoteor start hammering the advertisers of the show.

This, IMO, is the most effective route. The problem is that advertisers want to hear fro people who WOULD have used/purchased their product but for "X"

Are any of us really part of the c2c advertisers target market?

I honestly wouldn't know, since when I did listen to c2c - i used the stream and therefore didn't hear most of the ads.

Truthfully though, I think it's a lost cause.

Well, they are concerned about falling numbers.  And didn't someone mention that they were concerned about losing the intelligent young 20's market completely?  As I understand it, that's where the dropoff is and unless they are going to replace their disaster-related sponsors with Depends and Viagra, well.... it does affect them.  You know, at this late stage, it might be easier for them to peddle the new older-listener Coast to sponsors who want that demographic than to start over with a new host.  Just sayin'

Have not listened in a week or two. I lose track of time.

Came to ask if they had finally canned the birther garbage.

Reached valdez's post. Nevermind.

Quote from: Wade Collins on April 27, 2011, 07:32:58 PMI am new to this. I can't listen to this moron anymore. It's ironic that he actually has more affiliates than Art did. I think in fact it has more to do with Premiere Radio's ownership by Clear Channel. They have flipped a lot more stations to News Talk, thus creating an opening for Snoory. I also know that George has been sucking up to Premiere for years, the fact he does his show in LA from their headquarters show what a corporate b**ch he is. Art would have never gone for that. Snoory is the Jay Leno of radio talk show hosts, he sucks on the right teat.

I could quote from any of the immediate previous posters, so I will choose the new poster as my example of "things I think about the current C2C."  I'd like to say the program defies description, but all of you have described it very nicely.  Can I just say one more time, though, just for the record, that George Noory really, really Sucks!??  8)

rkowna

George must be asleep.  Linda Molting Fowl just mentioned George Scully's name and there was no witty retort from George about how Dana Scully on the X Files was named after him.

I must be listening too much, but it sounds like she is simply rehashing a show I just listened to.  It might have been Art with Steckling, I don't remember, but I heard all of this before.

Whoa, I just read the entry for George Noory in Conservapedia.  He grew up in Deerborn Heights rather than Detroit, so a suburban kid.  He is Lebanese rather than Egyptian, according to this (?)  They are not considered Arab, rather Phoenecian.

He is planning to go to three days a week when he is 66, which he said Premiere agreed to (?).  The article said the door is open for Art Bell to return should he so choose.  Noory met Art Bell for the first time in 2007, which I believe is the photo we've all seen of them sitting at the table.

Among controversies is listed a racist who blamed Americas decline to mixing of races (compared to China and Japan), which he said dilutes the national purpose.  Although Noory disagreed with him, he let him go on and on in that vein.

The article also mentions Noory's strangely disjointed replies and his unwillingness to yank off obviously mentally ill guests going on and on with ridiculous conspiracy theories (Russians have tampered with our hard drives, etc).

Anagrammy

PS.  On another site they are speculating that Noory grew up in a Lebanese-English environment with a stammer so THAT's what's responsible for the inability to pronounce common words of more than two syllables.

Whitley Strieber and Mitch Battros on the southern tornadoes.  I spent most of Wendsday night watching Doppler radar and thinking, "shit, those are headed right for us."  We got storms, but, thankfully, no tornadoes.  Even though it was your run of the mill alien craft crashes, government covers it up story, I dug LMH's report on the New Mexico disk filled with dead aliens.  No reaction from Truth Seeker George.  Linda has way more enthusiasm for this stuff than George will ever be able to fake.

It's all pastiche. Patter.  Pretention at enquiry.  Junk to say between ads.

And the ads spell the REAL story: panic in the streets, build bunkers.
Move from the coasts, believe in 'ghosts! (oh my!), buy gold! (like that
is going to any good if you can't buy anything worth eating . . . according
to this worthless mentality).

There's nothing interesting, no mystery, George has all the answers,
'questions' are simply pro-forma posturings (there are no coincidences!),
what fits his Catholic (I'm not religious, per se notwithstanding he sez)
catechism . . . round-a-bout way of preaching to we all . . . and, oh,
by the way, folks, did you know George is a 'healer'! Didn't ya hear,
met more than a few folk with problems, touched them, said something to
them: an voila! Now their well! Saiont Geooorgey! Egads!

Ala Uri Geller: hear my voice, watch will work. Hear George, no more dying
then (theft of sonnet plaint and hope).

Methinks he thinks: too much of hisef.

And puny knowing.

Why not be curious?  George? A little knowledge: conceit.

More knowledge: curiosity. Thirst for knowledge means: want more!

Prefigured thesis: forgone conclusion. 'Enquiry', then, is fake. Bending
everything to thesis.

Need we say? BOOOORING! George NOOOORING! Ergo: snoring. Click. Radio: OFF.

Roger

PS: no listening, no matter ads: no sales: done. Gone. Good riddance.

Problematic. To be done, a person has to make it their task to assess the show every night. To listen to it attentively enough to track what is being said. Who listens to that drivel in that manner anymore? For me, it is background noise while I am doing something else. Or, the radio is turned on before I go to sleep. Takes 30 minutes max typically, sometimes 2 before I'm sleeping. Point, it's a job to do what you describe.

While I applaud your heart and effort, I think it is misdirected. I don't think it will do anything but waste time. If I understand correctly, you think Lisa Lyons will change the format of the show or the host if you or 20 other people send in examples of George's failings as a host. That having specific examples of his ineptitude will give your opinion credibility and enable your voice to be heard.

IMO..
1. If Lisa is willing to talk to you about anything regarding the show it is merely a case of her keeping her enemies close.
2. If Lisa is talking to anyone critical of the show it is because it keeps people like you/us that hate the SOB on the radio placated, distracted, occupied preventing you/us from doing what she really fears.
3. Any email sent after a streamlink cancelation was most likely a standard form follow up email sent to anyone that cancels.
4. Any and all unique correspondence done by Lisa with anyone critical of the show is done for reasons #1 and #2.

--- My attitude is this, and I hope it is everyone's attitude ---

It is my fucking show. I don't "negotiate" with anyone about my fucking show. George Noory is fired. Flat out fucking fired, end of story. I don't need to give a reason for his termination. It is my fucking show and you have been told what you need to know, Noory is gone. Period.

Lisa is fired as well. Start looking for another job bitch. Every single person involved with the show in between upper management and Noory is fired. You are all gone.

The new host is going to be doing radio the way it is supposed to be done. This person will have his/her own people. The new host will decide who he/she needs helping and doing the behind the scenes work. The new host will be approved of at a later date.

-----------------

What needs to happen is to make Lisa, Premier, Noory, all involved, they need to have the lightbulb go off over their heads. They need to realize it really is our show and we will decide what is what.

There needs to be so many of us demanding that George Noory be replaced that they cannot merely dismiss us and tag us with the label "haters". There needs to be so many of us raising so much hell via every avenue that they have no choice. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY ANYTHING WILL HAPPEN.

Dissenting opinion - George can't be replaced at this late date. Bullshit. It's our fucking show and we will do whatever we want whenever the fuck we want.
- any publicity is good publicity, or, bad publicity is good publicity. Bullshit. Give me 100,000 people to ram up their advertisers ass and we will see just how that works. That catch phrase is attributed and applicable to actors, movie stars, social media. The last thing Premier, Noory, or anyone there wants is a light to be put on that joke of a host and show. And pressure put on advertisers, sponsors, or any entity even tangentially tied to it.

That's where I'm at with everything anyway.

I wholeheartedly agree.  Documenting "George Noory Incompetence Examples" is about as fruitful as keeping tabs on each bowel movement of your dog.  Each dogturd's time, date, size, scent.  It won't make any difference at the end of the day.  As long as the show's cashflow continues, it doesn't matter what the content of the show is, or how bad it has become.  IT'S ENTIRELY SECONDARY to their number one concern, of Coast to Coast as a money making enterprise.  And because of the clout of Premiere, the number of stations that just air the entire Premiere roster, and the lack of ANY competition at that hour, Coast to Coast will never, ever be good again.  EVER.  If you really need a hobby that bad, knock yourself out, but don't do it expecting any changes.

George sucks

The way to get Noory gone, IMO, is to fire up a webpage - www.FireGeorge.com - or something similar. Take email registrations for the task of hitting advertisers and C2C at a future date. Let the page simmer for awhile, 3-6 months. Plaster it in every relevant forum, 50?, 100?, on the net. Saturate the internet with the proposal and movement. Let the groundswell grow, and then hammer the shit out of everyone involved.

With the right marketing and word of mouth (Noory is his own worst enemy), I can see that web page getting a million hits a month eventually - hint, hint. Might pay for someone's time, headaches.

Wouldn't surprise me if 100,000 people registered. Don't underestimate the number of people that given their choice would have him replaced. If things are simple, the mandate and process is straightforward, then the people will come.

Problem is, it's a career to do something like this. Take the task on of outing Noory by starting a webpage, keep track of the email addresses, get the link to the page out on the net, etc, etc. People have lives, etc. Very involved thing to do. Times are tough, lot's going on with people. Certainly more important things in life. But if it is done, it should originate from this forum. I can see a fire sweeping the net, be good if got started here.

It is not unrealistic to have Noory replaced. Not at all. Just takes people, lot's of them. And replacing the host would change the show drastically. Just look at what having a pro in the chair does - Punnett, Knapp, Wells, etc - makes the show listenable. Even downright good sometimes.

I read this post with interest.  I've had the same thoughts, fueled by anger in the middle of the night.  Then a member brought up the fact that Howard Stern's site's ratings were analyzed as consisting of 1) People that like him 2) People that like lewd, and  3) People that hate him.  I suspect the latter might have been the largest category.  The poster mentioned that the very fact of starting a groundswell would have exactly the opposite effect that we might want, i.e., increasing the ratings.

Given that Premiere is not very interested in a quality program and if we can agree that one of our assumptions is that they have to please the sponsors, the loss of the younger demographic is their current big concern.  Not just numbers dropping, mind you, but the demo of the numbers.

It's only young people and those with young families that fight for their survival by buying gold, food, safes, and the other disaster-related products that George's Chicken Little Conspiracy Show has attracted. Older people say, "meh, I've had a good run..."  and so now they've got Viagra, Depends, Sleep Train and some other age-related sponsors.  Both demos buy the C-Crane radios, but for different reasons.

If they keep losing young people, they will have to find sponsors.  Not easy when your numbers are dropping (see Glenn Beck).  So that leaves us with two possible avenues:  contact Lisa Lyon, the producer, with specifics about Noory's performance, since she has been asking about that, or, contact the sponsors and rag on George with them.

My current opinion is that the specifics of George's performance have improved.  His diction is better, his pronunciation is better and he has learned to say nothing rather than fake it.  It is hard to document things like "insincerity" and "inappropriate comments" since those factors are a matter of opinion.  And some of the really unprofessional stuff is only apparent when the dialogue is printed from a few comments back, that is, the conversation itself doesn't make sense even though the individual sentences make sense.

I could imagine Lisa Lyons saying these kinds of things:  It's ok if he mispronounces, our focus group found it endearing.  It made him more human....Yes, those stock phrases are annoying, but his version of Coast is that he doesn't insert his opinion, he says something neutral so the guest can make their points....Yes, he agrees with everyone because everyone has some good points to make...  You might not have enjoyed a particular caller but two of our screeners thought they were articulate and deserved to be on the show, so that's your opinion...  Yes, it may have been premature to jerk a guest off for being too technical, but we can always get them back again if there is listener demand... George is improving...George has a learning curve...George has been here now 5 years and the listeners are used to him--he's very popular at the meet and greet promotions.  The show is growing in the major markets even though there have been drops in smaller markets.

I recently read where George let this racist guy talk on and on about how miscegenation was ruining America.  I would have considered that a smoking gun.. Nope.   And comments like "We all know demons are real."  To me , that's a statement to get fired over, but No.

But Stern can be interestingly hate-able. George is just an annoying bore.

Still, you have a point about interestingly the ratings - c2c seems to have fund an audience that seeks George's level - like water.

Was anybody else as entertained as I was by this call a couple nights ago from the very end of the show?

World-famous cartoonist's SECRET PAST exposed on COAST TO COAST AM WITH GEORGE NOORY

Maybe it's just because I was such a big fan of GARFIELD as a kid, but the amount of absurdity presented in this call was incredible.  And Noory didn't even question it!  I don't believe Jim Davis had already drawn the first quarter century of GARFIELD comic strips by the age of 13, or that he lives on a houseboat in San Francisco for privacy's sake, or even that he owned a xylophone.  This is my favorite brand of madness.

Sad but oh, so true. Succinctly put, too.   Have you ever peeked at the www.stopbeck.com site?  Now that's some effective activism right there.  But his radio presence is a waste of flesh, he offends absolutely everyone now--and with hardly trying.  For the love, look at that list on the right.  Makes George Noory look like St. Anthony.  Might have been stinky, but had a good heart.

All very interesting.  I knew he was Lebanese.  It was George's father who was born in Cairo, and the family moved to Deerborn Heights (which I just recently heard has a significant Lebanese population) when the father was only 6 years old.  I don't know anything about the mother, but if the father came here that young, he was surely speaking pretty good English before George came along. (I doubt George spoke Lebanese as a 1st language.)

All that is stuff I've heard George say.  I've also heard him say his father planned for him to become a dentist (never mentioned father's occupation that I heard), but that George changed his major to broadcasting and when his father found out, he refused to continue paying for college.  Saint George then had to put himself through the rest of his schooling.

The change to 3 days a week when he's 66 sounds like pure Georgespeak to me. By his own admission, his contract ends December of 2013, when he will still be only 63.  Sounds like, once again, Noory just couldn't do the math.  :P

George sucks

Open lines tonight, Friday, April 29th, 2011. Noory is his usual fake, insincere, sappy self. I have heard two callers voices, male, that I recognize from calling in previously to the show. Fake scripted callers?.... very possible.

Ah ha, 15 minutes from the show ending and there is a transgender man/woman talking about his/her sex change, what it was like growing up in a... whatever. Sounds like it is giving Noory a boner.

Inordinate amount of people seem to be giving Noory props as usual. "you're so great", "I love you", "you do a great job". Might be my Low Noory Tolerance, but the amount of compliments does seem unnatural. Now that song they've had on the C2C site this week is playing at the end of the show. Sounds like a C2C commercial. I bet it was commissioned behind the scenes. Aw, jeez. They put 'download stream link if you miss a show' in the song, what a scam.

You made it a lot further through this show than I did.  I was so enjoying the guest and her topic, but when Noory came back from break talking about the "few" emails he got accusing him of being a birther because Corsi was on, I had to pack it in.

How many more times is Noory going to tell the dopes who love him that the show is totally neutral and unbiased, that the guests just give their point of view, and people are encouraged to make up their own minds?  When has he ever presented opposite points of view for people's "consideration"?

Ah well, I despair in vain.  Classic definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I plead guilty as charged -- I keep turning the damn radio on, and the little Nazi just keeps dancing.  :-[

Again with the static.  Missed most of the guest (Yeah, anagrammy, I know, but I can't drive around with a computer.  By the way, don't give up on snoorology.  This guy is a unique phenomenon well deserving of scrutiny, and perhaps our combined subconscious thoughts, intentions, and utter amazement will have some cosmic effect on ...something.) so I'll assume she was interesting, and George asked just the right questions. During open lines a lady called about some family problem and she started crying and George says, "well, it's good to see you're doing better."  Yeah.  If she was any more better she'd be dangling from a rope.  Then the transgender guy/gal called and told us how happy she's been since the operation, but she didn't sound all that happy.  Maybe nobody sounds happy at four in the morning.  That "c2c makes me smile" song sucked.  Predictable lyrics, and a melody stolen from somewhere I haven't figured out yet.

Just an amusing personal aside here.

The past few days here were rife with some nasty, weather beasties.  The area I live in has rarely seen tornadoes, although surrounding parts get a touch-down or two every year.

Anyway, they had maps with purple circles all over emergency interruptions on TV.  My sisters and I(all, uh, over "50") managed to stay in contact.  We all went to bed with zip-locked plastic bags with each others names, addresses, and spots in our houses where we would be hiding if we had to.

We didn't seem to be too worried about surviving the storm, just having our bodies found.   I just thought it was weird that we all had the same idea.  AND that we all went to bed in the middle of the worst storm to come through here in quite a while!!  Time does make a difference in how things are perceived.  :)

SpacedCadet

I have to agree that Noory has seemingly improved. Enunciation is now that of a sixth grader, able to tackle two syllabe words without twisting his serpentine tongue. Questions have become oddly appropiate and even profound, but obviously these must be ripped from the audience thru fastblasts and such. He will never cease asking laughable questions - to Loren Coleman -   with feigned excitement, "If you came face to face with a Sasquatch, what would you say?".  Brilliant. Noory remind me of a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' written by a mental patient. Every outcome result in your demise; turn to page 17, you are reduced to ash by real demons, robotic angels pluck you from the ground only to drop you in Mel's Hole, a Lebanese dentist administers a fatal dose of anesthetic. Okay, I am really quoting 'Journey to the Blight'. I have never felt true rage and hatred until Noory destroyed a once thought provoking program. Barbara Simpson seemed a logical choice. Noory's stunted I.Q coupled with a unwarrented, overblown ego equals a sorry, pitiful man. Noory, both your min and physical appearance force bile to my mouth. You are a clown. There. I feel better.

My latest would be:
I think it was the Wednesday show when that Idiot Norry was speaking about the tornado in Alabama.  First, he thought Alabama and Mississippi were located in the Midwest.  And Secondly, when intoning the death count from the tornados, Noory gleefully exclaims,"It doesn't get an better then this!"

My latest would be:

Yeah, that's that fake enthusiasm that surrounds everything with exclamation points.  Here's what I think has happened.  Lisa Lyon did go back and ask every single cancelling person what specifically they didn't like and a lot of the responses were GNS--plus why.

I think he has been given a legal warning - the formal kind you get when they are trying to terminate you.  He was told to stop sleeping on the job, and given examples.  He was told to pep it up, pronounce things properly and most importantly listen to the guests and callers.

So he scored himself some meth and is using it to make sure he is alert and listening to the mediocre guests so that he can provide an energetic (if canned) response.  I notice he no longer says "Something is going on" or "They want to control us."  Some of his worse hackneyed phrases have disappeared.  "Exactly" and "Absolutely" are still here but the longer stinkers are gone.

Someone mentioned on a Facebook site that book reviewers for "Worker in the Light" ($1.00 at Amazon?) were speculating that George is suffering from dimentia or the big A, just like we have been on this board.  People suffering from short term memory loss often try speed to self medicate (where did I put that bottle, damn it...)

And then him talking about going to three days when he retires when he's 66.  I don't know anybody who is at the top of their game that talks like that.  Those thoughts don't appear until it becomes obvious to you that your glory days are in the past.  CH-CH-CH-CHANGES people, so don't give up hope.  We may not be able to get Art back, but we can maybe get some relief from this hemorrhoid Noory.

George sucks

You eluded to a couple things that are comforting about having Noory host the show. His inadequacies being a struggle with management. I get the feeling they are constantly assessing just how poor he his at doing radio and try to boost things by giving him evaluations. He has gone through some piss poor weeks, to just poor weeks. They probably bring up lack of enthusiasm, telling him to pump things up a bit. Try to pronounce things better, speak clearer. He has spent some time with a speech therapist I bet to try to employ some tricks.

To me, daily he is confronted with the fact that he is an amateur level broadcaster at best. The show isn't his. He is told what to do. He is not the boss. People riding him, assessing him. That, and the show itself every night glares in his face that he sucks. That he's faking doing radio. When it is all over, I don't feel that he will walk away from Coast with the feeling that, "Man, I rocked that show". But more, "Glad that is over, that was work. I hated that job".

Which is all comforting. He should have to deal with the fact that he chose, CHOSE, to do crap radio. He knows that almost anyone would be better than him at doing the show and he chose himself. He wanted to be somebody. Wanted the attention and recognition. When it is all said and done though, it will be hollow. All he will have proved is that he stunk up the airwaves for a long time. Noory will be forgotten like Siegel... who was that guy?

Don't think change is coming anytime soon. Noory is locked in, if they were going to get rid of him or cut him back it would have happened already. He'll do the show for as long as he is able. Without it he is nobody, so he'll hold onto it as long as he can. And all indicators are that they will let him have it for a long time.

Sort of rambling as usual.
