Not only will it be a push mower, but it will be the 1950s type with no motor.  Just blades that spin when I push.  You won't even know I'm out there.

Scott's still makes those, I bought one two years ago.

I remember Art talking about doing either a Ghost to Ghost or GIS show and during the break he heard a huge thump on his studio door. Last night I was putting together a new trailer and listening to a bunch of EVPs. I had my headphones on but I could have sworn I heard a massive thump on my office door. It was 1am. I slowly took off my headphones and went to investigate. No one was there. I continued working with the lights on mood be damned.

I remember that one too! I have had birds hit my door/window, but that was during the day...they usually aren't out at night...a confused bat maybe? Or of course a ghost or alien...

Maybe it was a numnumnum?

I am afraid it's just a Air Conditioner, BUT in our climate it is my friend.

Art

Oh.  Thanks for responding Art.  I was hoping it was a some fancy display with flashing lights, but then saw the vents underneath.

I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to do this job quietly, so you can hear the birdies and the babbling creek, and most important, you can smell the cut grass, fresh as a salad. Plus, exercise.

I'm starting to think even more extreme than that.
Screw the lawn.  I just wanna grow food.

It's fine if you have a tiny, flat, well manicured lawn.  Two acres of hills, banks, ditches, ruts, and other obstacles is a different thing entirely.

They call that kind of aircon a mini-split ductless.
It's basically a ductless heat pump.
The higher the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) number the more efficient they are.

Right! And please, for the love of God, replace leaf blowers with brooms.

No. MV will have to plant one, then mow it.

That's what you would think. That's what I used to think, until I started playing around with our hills, banks, ruts, and stoney end lawn. You can see in the photo that I have a lot of broadleaf, plus moles galore, so it's like mowing a rug with bodies underneath.

True. We are almost all shade, and deeper shade. I am using YouTube to learn about all the cool weeds that are medicine. Especially jewelweed.

Sounds fair.  I wonder which avatar is showing up at Art's.  Might want to give Art a head's up in case he needs to hide the family.

Thanks, seriously, I was curious. Someone, please, start a lawn mowing thread and a air-conditioning thread. There is much random debates/comments vis-a-vis type of mowers, methods, etc and I still want to, fundamentally, understand the difference between the "normal" HVAC, in particular A/C, and "heat-pump." Not kidding we need a thread on this stuff. (To include also modifications and tips.) For example, I listen to Norry's C2C when I mow without ear muffs. That way I can't hear it but the ear buds provide, a bit, of protection for my ears. When I do my larger property I listen to Art or music and wear ear muffs so machine noise is nil. I like older riding mowers with steering wheel because easier to have a cold one while mowing (and you can get parts on CL easy and cannibalize them.) I like older mower for house lot itself, and place in town, without self-drive because easy to use, heck get a bit of exercise  ;), and can rebuild, replace tank, etc over time cheaply. I also like to use manual saws (unless really big trees falls.) Something about an old, real saw and getting into the groove....

I can't wait for new show! So anytime I do stuff outside I can listen to Art and wear my ear-muffs to hear!

Yep.  Redid the front lawn for drought friendly CA native.  BAck yard is built around an old growth Avocado tree.  I've got a lemon and 3 mini fig trees.  Trying to plant only edibles in the back.

Figure with the water savings and some careful planning, I can produce 20-40 % of my family needs.  Crap.  I'm downing Avocado at every meal.  Starting to use it as an entree for my plate.
