Noory may want the job that long. But look at it this way, so did millions of other Americans fired in the last 5 years..

Tara

Noory's 61; I doubt he'll be able to stay on C2C until he's 71, even Premiere will be sick of him by then.  However, Noory will hang on to the job until he's forced out.  This is a gravy train for him and he'll never find another job like it.  Art left C2C full time over 5 years ago and thousands of us still want his return.  When Noory leaves C2C, what kind of decent paying job could he get, apart from being a shill on late night infomercials.  In two years, it'll be Noory who?
So Noory will not go gracefully into retirement.  Remember before C2C he was a 50 year old loser with a late night show on local radio making peanuts.

fysisist

For sure, they will have to pry C2C from Noory's cold, dead hands.  He may be dumb, but he's not stupid (well I guess that is a matter of some debate...).  In a fair and just world, in a meritocracy, there is absolutely no way the abNoormal one could get another job even remotely as good as this.  These days, with IHeartRadio and practically every radio show in the country available in iTunes or some streaming service on the internet, anybody can listen to 1000's of radio shows.  I challenge anybody to find a radio host as incompetent and unprofessional as GN.

I'm guessing you two are probably correct.  What happened to Rob Simone?  Is he out of the running for Prom King?  It's been a while since we heard Wells and Simone in the same time frame, but I have a vague memory of preferring Simone.  Can't say I remember why.

In my opinion Simone is in a different league from Wells, especially because Simone is still untouched by Premiere's overhauling.  Whether he would remain as fresh and neutral as he seems to me to be now is the question.  He's no Art Bell, but he could be a very acceptable host IMO.

Having his own paranormal show raises him up several more notches for my Prom King vote.

Noory has repeatedly stated that he wants to hold on to his job "10 more years". That seems like a long time for JBW to wait to take the reigns. Hell, the man may not even be alive then.

If Noory really does hold on to his job for 10 more years, I'm hope I'm dead soon.  Jes sayin'  ::)

No worries, Scully.  That Dr. Leonard What's-His-Name can cure you in 2-16 weeks.  You'll still be around to hear Snoory.

Sounds like both a blessing and a curse, LB!  :)

Frys Girl

Actually, by George Noory's prognosis, he should be off the air.

Noory always says "as long as I have my voice, I'll be on the show." Well, you do NOT have a voice idiot. No one understands a word/sentence you say. Kindly open the car door and throw yourself out lol.

I think JBW would be even worse.  He lost me when he said he wouldn't accept atheists as callers.  I'm no atheist, but that's awfully close-minded, even more close-minded than Snoory.  I think that C2C should have all kinds of voices, from wackjobs who believe in angels to Christopher Hitchens imitators (assuming that the *real* Hitchens would be too much of an intellectual snob to appear on C2C).

Rob Simone doesn't seem to be a right wing religious nut.  which is preferable imho

I will be going to sleep tonight listening to Art's 9/11/01 show. Why settle for imitations and pale reflections when you can get the real thing, painful as it may be?

It's driving me nuts. Who IS that sitting next to Shatner ?

Art Bell.

Accept no substitutes.

I admit to being a Coast addict who will listen to just about anything, but tonight’s show (9-23-11) with Wells is just too much (or rather too little).  A professor of consumer economics and ethnic studies talks about consumer debt???  And, yes, it seems that it will be just about as dull as it sounds.  Right now, he is talking about how it is a bad idea to just pay the minimum each month on your credit card bill.  True, but interesting… unknown?  What’s next, 4 hours on how it is good to make sure your smoke detectors have fresh batteries?

Yes, Morphia.  It's driving me nuts, too.  Who IS that person?

Totally unrelated observation:  JOHN B. WELLS SUCKS, TOO!!!!!  :P

What??  Smoke detectors need fresh batteries?!?!?!?!?!?!  George hasn't had a show about that!  We'll have to fast blast him with that suggestion.   :P

Now where did I put that sarcasm button?  Oh, here it is.  Right under my pile of batteries that expired in 1988.   ::)

At some point last night I was conscious enough to hear Wells say he had reserved 25 of something (gas masks?) for listeners to purchase.  Or maybe I dreamed it.

Whatever.  It was too close to Noory for me, whatever it was.

He apparently got hold of some radiation detectors which he's flogging on his own website, which he promoted a couple of times last night. More C2C fear porn.

(I think he said it was caravan to midnight DOT com.)

Yeah, like we need even more recession porn, the same way Japan needs another disaster.

If I want to listen to or need financial advice, I'll listen to Clark Howard or someone.

Oh Geezus H. Christ on a cracker!  I heard that one too...Where does he live.....IN JAPAN?????  Or is he skeeered that a Muslim is gonna detonate a dirty bomb?  Boy are we Americans whiny candy-assed babies...How far we've fallen from The Greatest Generation.

Because I'm a masochist, I'll check out that website....

Caravan to Midnight is an album by Robin Trower.   I think "W" considers himself a rock music aficionado snob.

Yeah, so I found out when I Googled.  And said website is still under construction.

In my opinion, which doesn't count for much admittedly, I thought that Trower was waaaay overrated and took himself waaay too seriously for a rock musician.  Snob and rock music should NOT be in the same sentence.

Thanks, Steve.  Gas masks, sheesh, I knew it was something, but radiation detectors makes me cringe just as much.  He's turning out to be every bit as bad as Noory on some levels.  Listening to Ian laugh and have some fun with the LSD guy night before I fell asleep, I thought, "Coast could use a little more levity like this and a lot less doom and gloom."

But you can't sell laughter, I guess.

Wells is a total weirdo. Is it a requirement to be ****ed out of your mind on heroin when you call his show? He let every asshole with a drug fueled theory on the world and the great conspiracy of life prattle on for ten minutes. I didn't get the impression he's a right-wing nut, as he seemed pretty receptive to his guest talking about how an elite few hold all the actual money in the country. But god, he has no clue how to manage a show. Say what you will about George, he throws out the trash in under five minutes at least.

Really?  I had not caught that.  Did he really say that he would not accept atheists as callers?  He would actually have his call screeners drop anybody who disagreed with his stance on a god?  If this is the case, it sounds like Noory, only worse and more close minded (if that were possible...)

On my local station which broadcasts Coast, they run the last hour of the previous show at midnight the next working day.  Hence I am listening to the clusterf*ck final hour of Wells' Friday program.  Wells is neither left nor right wing, unless it's one of the wings of a raptor deformed by radioactivity.  Some dumb f*ck called Wells and alleged that the Federal government had NO control over anything outside of the jurisdiction of DC, and Wells agreed.  That is a total freaking lie!!!  Further, Wells also alleged that in some US courts, which display American flags with fringe on the edge, you're guilty until proven innocent.  WHAT A DAMNED LIE!

OK, it's one thing if you believe that the entire government needs to be abolished, aside from the DOD.  That's called an opinion.  Yet when you've got millions of listeners, for a talk show host to state such a blatant misstatement of law and fact is scary.  God knows how many people listening were either drunk, high, psychotic or all three early last Saturday morning, and took Wells' pronouncements as gospel truth.

Wells and his fans aren't "conservative"  - that word conveys stability and normality.  This is the fringe of the fringe of the fringe of the fringe of the fringe.  Wells wants everyone to carry around his Geiger counters, even to the supermarket!!!  Hey, the only market around here that might make the Geiger counter go nuts is the Japanese market---for obvious reasons.

Wells' website is up and running now. No products yet, I guess, but it looks like you can reserve one  ;D.

Scully

I do believe Premiere gives employee seminars on Moneygrubbing 101.  :-*

Scully

Didn't anybody at all listen to John B. Wells last night (Oct. 9th)?  Not even you, Valdez?

I must confess I avoided it entirely myself, but from others at another Coast site, I've heard he was "all-over-the-place" for the 1/2 hour it took them to fall asleep.  ::)
