Icke is kookalicious.  All that convoluted and ever-changing talk about vibrations, and none of it ever makes sense.  He makes Strieber sound almost normal.

Humm... a guy talking about vibrations... a guy talking about anal probing...
Sounds like a you got your chocolate in my peanut butter moment to me.
... vibrating anal probes... yeah... yeah... there could be a market for such an item.
Icke and Weeber could sell there likeness to a company selling vibrating anal "probes".

Anyway just a thought... dunno.

I must respectfully disagree with you about david icke. I have found his books to be crampacked with a lot of useful information for the improvement of life. I listen to his tapes usually at the landramat in my walkman. One time I went into the laundramat when it was crowded --- usually sunday afternoon here --- and I had some plug in speakers I hooked up to the walk man with me that everyone could listen to icke. I think I really woke a few people up out of their slumber! People of earth get off your knees the lion sleeps no more!

Go david icke. God bless you and God bless Louis Farrakhan, Harold camping and Pastor arnold murray.

Did you say walkman? Holy relic, Batman!

How many Art pieces has Phil Hendrie done over the years? Anywhere I can find them all? Only ones ive heard are the recent one and the one about horse meat.

Hello Mastodon. I hope you are having a good day.

I used to have a treasure trove of Phil Hendrie Art Bell impersonations, but they died with the external hard drive I had them on. I got them all off of different torrents and Soulseek, but that was back in 2006-7 so I don't know if that will work anymore. But they are out there if you look hard enough.

It was actually an mp3 player but I try to keep a Steam Punk aesthetic to my posts, Dortmunder. I hope you can sympathize.

I've seen an infomercial similar to this late at nite.  All you'd have to do is dress those two ladies who do all the product demos in alien gray costumes, then you'd really have something.

The thing I like about Art's programs are aside from just him is the format. I think that's why I can't really find anything else podcast or otherwise that I like anywhere near as much. Just sucks.

Agreed, and that is why all of the people here bashing him, surely would listen if he returned. Regardless of what you think of him, there is no substitute. He reigns supreme and always will.

This!  So, so, so much this.  I'm totally willing to put up with his bullshit if he just delivers that sweet, sweet content.

An Art Bell interview is like a warm blanket.

From The Art Of Talk

And a bit later on...

Interesting!  You would think he'd have learned his lesson about ultimatums.  I say take this route w/Sirius -- what does he have to lose?

Falkie2013

I've sent Art a lot of emails over the last couple of weeks and he's even answered a few.
I'm waiting for his permission to post the one I just got, but I think he's a bit naive in that he expected the suits at Sirius to look out for his interests more than they did.
And I told him that.
Art is out there listening and lurking and he's hit a brick wall in this case and only George Reeves was good at crashing through brick walls without damage.

And a Noory interview is like that scorpion on the back of the frog.
You can never quite trust it.

It's also like a hot steaming dog turd laid right in front of you and you are dismayed you have no handy pooper scooper.

midnight

When I heard the "all in" phrase I evidently didn't have the same feeling as most.  It did not sound good to me.  There was just something in the way he said it.

However, I've now been through all the stages of grief for myself, and I can honestly say that the main thing I want now is for Art and his family to be happy.  If the show does not pan out, then the worse that can happen is that he will be able to devote his full time to them.

For me, I think it's kind of neat to know that he doesn't think in corporate language.  I think it's really cool that he and his producer actually post real letters and talk to us here.  I am not disappointed at all at this point.  If the show comes through, how wonderful that would be.  If not, I know that Art Bell probably actually read some of my posts here!  I doubt seriously that the Serius execs ever personally read any of the many letters that have been sent to them about this subject.  It's not their fault either.  It's just the way they think.

So really, the glass is half full.  Either Art comes back, or someone new will arise to carry the torch.  Who knows, maybe that someone could even come from this message board!  There are lots and lots of talented people here with wonderful senses of humor.  That's one of the reason I've spent almost 4 complete days of my life on this board I guess.  (Who's idea was it to show those stats in graph form anyway?  Gosh, it's embarassing to see how much time I've spent here.  :o )

I listened to his interview with the Tarot lady. I liked it, actually. Especially how Noory fixated on the Death card, Devil card, the Hanged man, etc.

"What happens when you draw those cards, Monica?"
"Uh, it's Janet."

It was very good.

Dude I made similar crack, but now I'm remembering how much I loved my old walkman.  So simple, just put in tape and press play.  Now it's more like: find a usb cable, tranfser mp3 files from desktop, but you can't since you have to upgrade some software first, so do that, but also you realize you must upgrade virus scanner, ok now you've got the files, but what directory are they in, and oops ipod needs a recharge, so .... aaaargh sometimes the old ways are better.

I loved my yellow Sony walkman that I got for my thirteenth birthday but my iPod has never chewed through a tape and you can access porn on it. Not that I do but you can and my thirteen year old self would have LOVED that. :P

I'm still getting used to my kindle. I have to hold a goddamn magnifying glass up to it to read a lot of the pdfs I want to. I think I still don't want to admit to myself just how radically shitty alot of this new technology feels, aesthetically. Oh well.

I listened to his interview with the Tarot lady

I heard about ten minutes of it, since I'm actually interested in the history and tradition of tarot, and the most scintillating, deep, mystical question from noorie that stood out for me was "So what's the average cost for a reading?" sigh

tertiaryimam

He did say something along the lines of:

"I think Oujia boards are bad but Tarot, I think, is ok. Why is that?"

There are so many people here that this may be a good place to warn you of my Sirius experience.  I signed up when Art came back but never took any packages.  6 weeks after signing up they billed my brand new credit card two days after I had received it on Halloween.  This is not only an account that I had never given them but that's not the really scary part, this is, when I signed on I gave them NO credit card!

When I saw the charge yesterday I created another email account for a 30 day trial and AGAIN I did not give them a credit card.  In the meantime that account they charged on Halloween was closed today and my credit card company is giving me back the money and sending me out a form to file a fraud investigation against them.

This is the company that Art got himself involved with and I sure hope he gets himself uninvolved with.

I don't understand how Sirius could have gotten your credit card number to charge you for it, since you never gave them the credit card number.

Additionally, I subscribed for the 30 day free trial:  twice.  I do have credit cards, two:  neither of which has a charge on it from Sirius.

I had a kindle for awhile, and I was drawn in by the idea that you could have a whole library on it, but I just found the interface a hassle and kind of disorienting.  Also, even a hundred year-old book that's been lying around can still be read without a recharge.  :)

oh that's funny ... and gives me a great idea for a guest ... someone who can probe the inner workings of Noorie's mind and get us some real answers   ;)

Sort of worth saying this, though I hate to. If C. Crane wasn't selling enough product, then there goes the sponsorship. Art has said as much. If the subscription surge for Art started dropping dramatically at the end of the trial period, then there goes SXM's meter of how this was going. Again, Art's said as much. If Art wasn't getting the calls he needed and the quality wasn't what he felt he needed, again, Art's said as much. Well, you get the picture, how much more does it take before the show gets cancelled?

I absolutely hate writing that, I've listened to Art since 1995. I consider his style to have been the epitome of night time radio that requires a talent that won't come again. I listen to some of those old shows and it sends chills down my spine how great it was. DM was approaching that, there were times over that 7 weeks where it might as well have been 1996 because Art was back in his prime and cooking like gas. The Hoagland interview was probably the best he's done with Richard C. It was fantastic, warm and hilarious. Let's not forget Albert Taylor's enthusiasm for his robots, or the chilling statements of Charles Faddis. I have no doubt that Art knows he hit some home runs there and the show, if properly arranged (which is what Art says he's trying to do), would hit some more.... a lot of them.

But it may be that Art was simply moving while he still could. Had he not, we might have been facing no show regardless.

So cut him some slack guys. Let's wait for the yes or the no. If we get a no and Art tells us that he'll see us in two years without a fight, then by all means, go ape shit. But let's wait and see. I'm betting we'll get better than that.

And really, if Art wanted to give you all the finger, he'd have done so. Bam, close down FB, never post here again, and that's that. But we don't have that, do we? We've got Art spending time here and composing posts. We've got Paul as a freaking regular interacting. No, this is no narrative. This is what it appears to be. Let's be supportive for a while longer and see what happens.

Art did give us all the finger, although I doubt "us" was a factor in his decision.  He put the network in a position that would have been a no-win for them, blaming his "suggestion" on a problem that the overwhelming number of posters here say wasn't an issue.  It certainly never was for me.  It was his way of saying "no mas, no mas" after he realized those "27 millions Sirius listeners" he kept referring to weren't all listening to him.  Talk about ego.

C Crane wasn't the show's only sponsor, and even if it were I'm  not so sure any marketing conclusions can be based on the effectivity of maybe fifty commercials over a six week period.  Besides, with Christmas coming up sales would have improved.  The question as to whether Bob Crane got any money back for what he spent in advance to advertise before Art baled is undetermined.  We know for a fact Crane lost satellite advertising when Sirius ditched C2C, almost certainly at Art's insistence.

If true, it's no surprise Sirius saw a drop in subscription surge after Art's listeners' trial run expired.   Not because of the drop-outs/technical issues Art talked about, but because quite frankly the show wasn't very good.  His guests were either retreads selling the same old tired stories, or they were hacks/goofballs/droners not ready for prime time.  I'd already made the decision to not sign up for a paid subscription for that reason.

I said some time ago it would be telling to see if listeners compared Art's new show to the current iteration of C2C or to his evergreen days of the 90s.  Clearly it was the latter, and he just didn't live-up to himself.  Even if we overlook the fact he just didn't have the fire/energy he did as a man in his mid-40s, the wonder of his subject matter just isn't there anymore. In the 90s his show was the only place were could get information on such topics as UFOs, Bigfoot, cryptos, etc.  Now we can watch several shows on these topics every night on multiple TV networks, and we still have C2C as well as the other paranormal radio/internet shows locally/regionally/nationally.

We grew up, Art got old, his guests got goofier, his topics got saturated, his ego was taking a beating, and he quit.
