I wonder if that was a joke that it actually did require all those parts, or if the mechanic was saying that doc's "flux capacitor" was out of phase and required replacement. I suppose without knowing the amount of trust that people had in mechanics back then, it might be hard to speculate.

I'm still trying to figure out what exactly Walt Wallet does at his shop.  Car repair?  Tire service?  Doc and the other two guys are his neighbors, and they seem to be working on their cars at Walt's shop, or do any of them work for Walt?  They seem to take their cars to other mechanics for repair work.  And one other thing, I have yet to see a customer in Walt's shop.  Puzzling.
