Are these stories of UFOs shutting down missile silos legit?

I've heard these stories for years on Art's show but is there any evidence that missile silos were ever shut down?

I have a first cousin who was a USAF Security Police captain who responded to a UFO hovering over a missile silo at one of the northern tier ICBM bases in the early 1970s.  He saw the UFO, but didn't know about the operational status of the missiles.
