I was debating where to post this seeing as it could fit in almost any thread on this site but since it was inspired by the mention of the "Nitecaps" in this thread yesterday... I'll do it here.

Yesterday I listened to the recent Rollye James tribute to the Nitecaps radio show. On the show, a guy called in and asked Rollye about her departure from coast to coast. I've attached an audio clip, nothing really new here but interesting none the less.
thanks for posting this!

A lot of good music never gets played on the radio.
very true.

i hate terrestrial music radio.  when i hear it today, it sounds so quaint and silly to me; cookie cutter songs playing with liners in between and some tightly restrained jock sandwiched between all of THAT shit.  with all of the content options available to consumers today, particularly musical content, i don't know why terrestrial music radio continues to exist.  surely their advertising sales people must be doing a GREAT job of convincing advertisers that their medium is still relevant as an advertising vehicle... because reality does not match their sales pitch.

...it's another to see a droopy-eyed, toupee-wearing pseudo radio host make a mockery of the show you and your dead wife sacrificed most of their marriage to make lively, sharp and incisive.
this really summarizes the situation.

Yes, I am still digesting the news.  My wife and I confirmed that she is pregnant - at least one month along.  Of course, she pretty much knew this already.  This will be the first one for both of us, and something we both very much look forward too.  Needless to say, when I heard the news I had a tall, cold Boston Lager, and contemplated for a while...
congrats, my friend.  nabila wants to go down the same road, and after nearly 4 years of marriage, perhaps it's about time, but i don't feel like we're ready.  i'm always saying, "we need to take care of this, first..." and "we need to take care of that."  however, according to my dad and several others, you never really are prepared.

I made myself listen to this.  If you want to know all you need to know about where Noory is coming from, I highly recommend listening.  George is in his element here, and you'll be left with no illusions that C2C is ever going to change on his watch.

Michael, I wish you would put this video on the GNS thread.  There are people there who may never come to this thread and see it otherwise.  :'(

Apparently George likes to live it up.

Does anyone remember back like 8 or 9 years ago, Phil Hendrie told a story about how every time he's met George, he's being 'escorted' by one or more beautiful women?
i absolutely remember phil saying this.  i'm sure i have it somewhere in my vast archive of hendrie shows.

By happenstance, I noticed a member here, who came here by way of another forum, also recently began posting on an essentially dead George Noory Sucks Thread on yet a different forum. They were complaining that the GNS thread at GLP was deleted which I found hard to believe, so I investigated. Hadn't been there in years, but would never go unless "proxified"  - and sure enough, the thread is gone. This CG member is also a GLP member and at last unofficial count, is a member of at least 5 forums which have C2C/GNS threads. To each her own - one is enough for me.
by the way... i don't want anyone around here getting the impression that it's a sin to use this site if you're a glp member or something.  that's not the case at all.  it's just that if there is another exodus into coastgab from glp as happened two years ago, rest assured i will do everything necessary to prevent this forum from being shit upon again.

that said, i don't see it being a problem this time around.  circumstances are very different than they were at that time.  the initial burst of chaos last time around wasn't really even the fault of the glp people.  it was caused by a former administrator who went way beyond what his role was supposed to be... and in the process, caused a major disaster which i was left to clean up after giving him the boot.

this former administrator (and former friend) was only supposed to be an administrator when it came to technical issues in the forum software.  he wasn't really supposed to moderate people and "lay down the law."  then, one day, out of the fucking blue, after MONTHS of no posts from him, he suddenly drops in and starts capriciously and arbitrarily moderating all of the GLP people HEAVILY.  everyone was like, "wtf?  who is this asshole?"  haha, and then the fun began.  this forum now has only one user with administrator/moderator capabilities, and that's plenty.

Lest we forget.

Strangely enough, at one of the forums, someone posted that it was YOU and ME you had the original GLP thread deleted. I kid you not. Lots of weirdos out there with too much time on their hands ;)
haha, that's a hoot.  yeah, i just fired off an email to someone (although i'm not sure who this would/should be), and POOF!  it was gone.  i've also been accused of BEING you, and of being someone named Trinity who i assume is someone from GLP.

you know what... fuck it.  this is too much fun.  for the record, it was i who had the noory sucks thread removed from GLP.  and i'll do it again!  don't push me!!!!  muahahahahaha!

These are truly horrific times at the Coast Production Offices! My source in Portland/KEX-land has painted a picture that is dire. The show IS losing stations left and right in mostly educated progressive markets. The show is trying, using desperate measures to create a picture that Art Bell is still somehow involved in the show. They're getting hit by advertisers from the one side, saying the show isn't informationally relevant anymore the way George is running the show. Then they get hit by Clear Channel on the other side for being insensitive to an important constituent audience that Clear Channel depends on for it's other programs throughout the day. The Core Audience created by Art is highly skeptical of Apocolyptic Religious  material, yet throughout the rest of the day CC airs programming supportive of it. The show is now losing money in the format of information that Clear Channel demands! Stations ARE contacting Art Bell (at least the non-Clear Channel ones) about returning to the air! My source tells me Art WILL return to the air, however ALL Clear Channel owned stations are perhaps lost forever to the George Noory Titanic. Art now recognizes that only he and he alone can preserve open-minded, inquiry-based talk on the late night times. Do you remember the advertisements for Sears on Coast? Art has been approached by them as a potiential sponsor, should Art return. Also Art has been approached by Toyota, with an exclusive late-night advertising contract. We're moving, but the pace is unknown. But my source tells me sooner rather than later, and yes C. Crane will stand with Art!
fort rock... regardless of what anyone here thinks about you, your assertions, and/or their validity, i want to point out that you have single handedly kept this thread alive... and for that, sir, i commend you.  this is my second favorite thread on coastgab, and it's hard to imagine coming here without checking it for new posts.

hey, brother.  welcome to the forums, and post often.

in addition to the thread evb mentioned, you might try this one.

also, there is the artaudio show trading group which was started by some of this forum's members.  it's here.
