Phil Hendrie as Art...
Quote from: awguy on March 11, 2011, 09:55:15 AMthanks for posting this!
I was debating where to post this seeing as it could fit in almost any thread on this site but since it was inspired by the mention of the "Nitecaps" in this thread yesterday... I'll do it here.
Yesterday I listened to the recent Rollye James tribute to the Nitecaps radio show. On the show, a guy called in and asked Rollye about her departure from coast to coast. I've attached an audio clip, nothing really new here but interesting none the less.
Quote from: slipstream on March 08, 2011, 08:59:12 PMvery true.
A lot of good music never gets played on the radio.
Quote from: anagrammy on March 09, 2011, 03:45:49 AMthis really summarizes the situation.
...it's another to see a droopy-eyed, toupee-wearing pseudo radio host make a mockery of the show you and your dead wife sacrificed most of their marriage to make lively, sharp and incisive.
Quote from: Agent : Orange on March 05, 2011, 04:13:35 AMamen.
Great idea. Has Ed Dames been on lately? I propose we start there...
Quote from: guildnavigator on March 08, 2011, 12:16:37 PMhaha
I took it because I thought the google ad was too funny: "Looking for Art Bell?"

Quote from: Marc Knight on March 08, 2011, 07:10:30 PMcongrats, my friend. nabila wants to go down the same road, and after nearly 4 years of marriage, perhaps it's about time, but i don't feel like we're ready. i'm always saying, "we need to take care of this, first..." and "we need to take care of that." however, according to my dad and several others, you never really are prepared.
Yes, I am still digesting the news. My wife and I confirmed that she is pregnant - at least one month along. Of course, she pretty much knew this already. This will be the first one for both of us, and something we both very much look forward too. Needless to say, when I heard the news I had a tall, cold Boston Lager, and contemplated for a while...

I made myself listen to this. If you want to know all you need to know about where Noory is coming from, I highly recommend listening. George is in his element here, and you'll be left with no illusions that C2C is ever going to change on his watch.
Michael, I wish you would put this video on the GNS thread. There are people there who may never come to this thread and see it otherwise.
Quote from: Marc Knight on March 07, 2011, 11:27:46 PMlol, god damn. i'm trying not to wake nabila. STOP IT!!
Time for bed... Night all.
Quote from: Digitech on March 07, 2011, 09:25:24 PMi absolutely remember phil saying this. i'm sure i have it somewhere in my vast archive of hendrie shows.
Apparently George likes to live it up.
Does anyone remember back like 8 or 9 years ago, Phil Hendrie told a story about how every time he's met George, he's being 'escorted' by one or more beautiful women?

So much fun.

I'll trade a shot of Jimmy Hoffa fly fishing at Chernobyl.
Quote from: EvB on March 07, 2011, 01:09:48 AMno, but incidentally, my grandmother was also blamed.
and no one blamed me? I'm crushed.
Quote from: Marc Knight on March 07, 2011, 12:17:55 AMwell, the truth had to get out there at SOME point. why not now.
Disclosure, at last.
Quote from: HAL 9000 on March 07, 2011, 12:10:10 AMby the way... i don't want anyone around here getting the impression that it's a sin to use this site if you're a glp member or something. that's not the case at all. it's just that if there is another exodus into coastgab from glp as happened two years ago, rest assured i will do everything necessary to prevent this forum from being shit upon again.
By happenstance, I noticed a member here, who came here by way of another forum, also recently began posting on an essentially dead George Noory Sucks Thread on yet a different forum. They were complaining that the GNS thread at GLP was deleted which I found hard to believe, so I investigated. Hadn't been there in years, but would never go unless "proxified" - and sure enough, the thread is gone. This CG member is also a GLP member and at last unofficial count, is a member of at least 5 forums which have C2C/GNS threads. To each her own - one is enough for me.
Quote from: HAL 9000 on March 07, 2011, 12:10:10 AMhaha, that's a hoot. yeah, i just fired off an email to someone (although i'm not sure who this would/should be), and POOF! it was gone. i've also been accused of BEING you, and of being someone named Trinity who i assume is someone from GLP.
Strangely enough, at one of the forums, someone posted that it was YOU and ME you had the original GLP thread deleted. I kid you not. Lots of weirdos out there with too much time on their hands
Quote from: FightTheFuture on March 06, 2011, 10:56:28 AMit was 2006 when i finally uttered these same words to myself.
I am insane. I must be, because I keep listening to C2C AM and expecting a different experience.
Quote from: Fort Rock on March 06, 2011, 02:30:09 PMfort rock... regardless of what anyone here thinks about you, your assertions, and/or their validity, i want to point out that you have single handedly kept this thread alive... and for that, sir, i commend you. this is my second favorite thread on coastgab, and it's hard to imagine coming here without checking it for new posts.
These are truly horrific times at the Coast Production Offices! My source in Portland/KEX-land has painted a picture that is dire. The show IS losing stations left and right in mostly educated progressive markets. The show is trying, using desperate measures to create a picture that Art Bell is still somehow involved in the show. They're getting hit by advertisers from the one side, saying the show isn't informationally relevant anymore the way George is running the show. Then they get hit by Clear Channel on the other side for being insensitive to an important constituent audience that Clear Channel depends on for it's other programs throughout the day. The Core Audience created by Art is highly skeptical of Apocolyptic Religious material, yet throughout the rest of the day CC airs programming supportive of it. The show is now losing money in the format of information that Clear Channel demands! Stations ARE contacting Art Bell (at least the non-Clear Channel ones) about returning to the air! My source tells me Art WILL return to the air, however ALL Clear Channel owned stations are perhaps lost forever to the George Noory Titanic. Art now recognizes that only he and he alone can preserve open-minded, inquiry-based talk on the late night times. Do you remember the advertisements for Sears on Coast? Art has been approached by them as a potiential sponsor, should Art return. Also Art has been approached by Toyota, with an exclusive late-night advertising contract. We're moving, but the pace is unknown. But my source tells me sooner rather than later, and yes C. Crane will stand with Art!
Quote from: onan on March 06, 2011, 11:00:40 AMhere's a more detailed explanation of what happened.
So if it isn't a problem what are the cliff notes on this exodus?
Quote from: IU Jacob on March 06, 2011, 11:26:21 AMhey, brother. welcome to the forums, and post often.
PS. If one had a question about finding a certain episode from way back (didn't want to just jump in and make a new thread), where would you do this?
