Quote from: onan on April 21, 2011, 01:04:36 AMI think it's because the people involved in liberal talk radio were doing it for all the wrong reasons. They were obsessed with the notion of serving as a counterweight to conservative talk... and it showed. They forgot to entertain. Their shows were heavy, unlikable, and almost purely activist in nature. There was no release valve.
yup I would agree. And as simple as that is, I have to wonder why. I mean if talk radio was any kind of indicator of public opinion wouldn't our country be much more to the right than it is? Wouldn't taxation be at most 2%. Wouldn't Obama be a footnote in american politics?
I'm just askin.
Quote from: rangers1919 on March 19, 2011, 03:07:38 AMThe reason liberal talk radio didn't take off is because it didn't get ratings and was unsustainable as a result. It's really that simple.
Liberal radio hasn't been able to take off because many of the largest corporations got together and said they wouldn't advertise during liberal talk shows; this is all the stations care about, advertising dollars.
Quote from: b_dubb on April 18, 2011, 10:31:00 AMmy wife has eaten many a sheep's head (and stomach, etc.). i'll never understand it. it's hard for me to believe a woman of her beauty would find pleasure in eating such a thing, but it's the moroccan way.
Jar City. an Icelandic police procedural. i've never seen a man eat a sheeps head. prior to watching this movie. good movie but not exactly uplifting
Quote from: Eddie Coyle on April 20, 2011, 06:34:29 PMi wish i'd been the one to articulate this.
Nope, my dislike of them comes from their supercilious, haughty demeanor. For instance, I agree with Maher maybe 2/3 of the time...but he's utterly devoid of humility. Maddow comes across as a snarky hipster and not surprsingly, highly intolerant of dissenting views. The "preachers of tolerance" really seem to HATE those who don't agree with them. She also is frighteningly consedcending.
Quote from: onan on April 20, 2011, 04:10:44 PMwhen did it suddenly become unacceptable to challenge anyone's patriotism? i'd like to know when this became sacred ground and why i wasn't at the meeting. the outrage expressed by some when patriotism is questioned seems to be a new phenomenon, and i fail to understand how it's always off the table as an issue of discussion. the fact is, some american citizens have an invariable, consistent, predictable tendency to blame the united states for every problem faced by the world, regardless of reality. i don't think they're patriots. i've grown fatigued by 25 years of listening to aging pseudo intellectuals incessantly prattle on about why my country sucks, how guilty we are, and how uneducated i am for not agreeing WITH THEM. talk about arrogance... and then they have the balls to demand their patriotism not be questioned in the whole process. what assholes. some people ARE anti american, and i'm happy to see them called on it.
Please tell me how she compares to those that make a point of challenging anyone's patriotism (really would like a specific definition of that term).
Quotei think it would be an exercise in futility to even begin trying to answer this question.
Tell me how she compares to the misinformation of the likes of limbaugh, hannity, liddy, and others.
Quotewas it you or someone else who, a few weeks ago, suggested you'd like to see conservative talk radio hosts burn in hell? and what was that for if not their ideology, which happens not to coincide with what you believe? talk about off putting... and disproportionate.
I just find it off putting that some because of different ideologies think her to be a bitch.
Quotei don't think it's without merit, but i also don't think it shields her from criticism or renders her opinion of greater weight than mine or anyone else's. i'll take her political opinions one at a time, and when they blow goat, i'll place them in the "goat blowing" pile along with the others. however, placement in the "goat blowing" pile will not be contingent upon a peek at her degree.
Do you also believe that a college degree especially at a doctorate level has no merit?

I have a friend who moved to Hawaii, and now she says "da" instead of "the". It's really annoying.

Quote from: HAL 9000 on April 17, 2011, 02:11:05 AMyou're right. it does sound manipulated. the spacing after, "that's the most i can say about thaaa..." doesn't sound natural to me. it's very rushed from "thaaa" to "let's go east of the rockies..." almost to the point of one word overlapping the other.
That POS Snoory lied about his knowledge of Art... the attached mp3 is the open-lines call referring to Art.
After listening very closely to the last sentence when Snoory says, "That's the most I can say about that..." the next sentence starts too soon. Upon examination of the audio waveform (and listening very closely) to my ear Snoory does not pronounce the last "t" in the word "that" and the next sentence begins virtually immediately - as though it was edited, or perhaps a portion was dumped... either way, doesn't really matter as the One-Neuron Noron continues to lie...
See attached mp3 below:

So here is my story. I recently downloaded an iphone app that claims to summon real spirits. The app is called 'Ghost Seance' I actually thought it was just another one of those fake/gag apps at first but curiosity got the best of me and I gave it a shot. A friend of mine and ex roommate had past away a few months ago so when I was bored a few nights ago I lit some candles by myself and decided to let this app try and summon my friend who had died. After reading what I just typed it sounds really strange, I know. Anyways I let this app do its thing and when the persons voice who leads the seance on the app started asking spirits to make a sign. My phone rang in the middle of the seance. It was the person who now lives in the place where me and my roommate who died used to live. This person was calling to say they found my wallet (that I had now forgotten about) it was in an old couch that we left behind in the garage - the couch actually belonged to my friend/roommate. Anyways, I think this is way too much of a coincidence and I know there is no way the app had anything to do with this or did it? how does a coincidence like this happen?? I was going to call in to coast to coast radio show about this but would rather have all of your feedback.

"Dancing Queen" and "Don't Leave Me This Way" also make me think of Phil Hendrie's awesome send-ups of C2C, in particular an episode where General Johnson Jameson demanded Art stop playing "that damned disco music"
