Most of the table servers in Austin look like they need to be disinfected.
People in Austin eat tables?

Speaking of Austin, if someone wants to front me a budget, I will move down there and do my schtick on tables at bars in my underwear.

In Austin, this would be considered "high brow." Think it over. I am accountable!

EDIT: MORE GOOD ECONOMIC NEWS

What makes you think I am "right wing"? I think of myself more as a rational libertarian constitutionalist that has very strong moral and ethical values. In fact, here is where I charted on the Political Compass chart thingy...

Alright, but you are going to the last place in Texas I thought you would go to.

I can't even see the video clip now, but I am rocking out to the kickass soundtrack.  I loved that show (not just that episode in particular) as a kid, did they always do the bongo drum rock-out during the fight scenes?  I canna remember, and I'm not going to spend hours youtubing Six Million Dollar Man...  The episode I most memorable was the one where he had to fight the robotic tank thing in the LA drainaige ditch thing I think it has a name, Terminator drove down it in a movie among other notable appearcances in TV & film.

Speaking of economic news, I wonder when they will attempt to do a Movie/TV remake of Six Million, they seem to be running out of ideas in Hollywierd.  If they do a remake of Six Million I think they might get my $1 (or $28 which I think is the current price of a first-run movie theater ticket these days)...

It's complicated -- family related matters and my best orthopedic medical device clients are there in Austin, so it just makes sense. Plus, when the war for secession comes, I want to be in Texas, where at least there is a chance that Constitutional Libertarianism will survive...

Plus I will have free reign to hunt Whitetails and Wild Hogs on a sizeable chunk of ranchland that is teeming with wildlife, so there's that too. I'm sick of the Frankenstein Nauga-food that big agribusiness has been poisoning us to death with. I'm going to raise some chickens and some pigs, and hunt game, and grow a little garden! I ordered (3) 1,000-gallon rainwater storage tanks for the garden!

"According to a major new report from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), net employment growth in the United States since 2000 has gone entirely to immigrants, legal and illegal. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, CIS scholars Steven A. Camarota and Karen Zeigler found that there were 127,000 fewer working-age natives holding a job in the first quarter of 2014 than in 2000, while the number of immigrants with a job was 5.7 million above the 2000 level."

Things aren't all bad...

Quote
The US economy added 288,000 jobs in June, latest figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics have shown.

The unemployment rate dropped to 6.1%, its lowest level since September 2008.

That figure beat analysts' expectations and is an encouraging sign after disappointing growth in the first quarter of 2014.

Some light at the end of the tunnel? We will see once these numbers are "revised" as they usually are. But the other issue is the type of jobs, the quality of the jobs, and who is getting the jobs (certain segments of the population are still disproportionally unemployed or under-employed or working two part-time jobs, or have "left the workplace" and so are no longer included in the unemployment figures, and the wages versus inflation, etc.) And the employment figures differ drastically from region to region in the large country.

Unemployment figures in the US are completely phony.  Nothing to do with Obama, it's the way they have been calculated as long as I can remember.

Only people receiving unemployment insurance are counted.  Once a person drops off (it cuts off after a certain time period), they are considered 'no longer looking for work', and no longer counted as 'unemployed'.  People who were self-employed and whose businesses fail aren't eligible for UE, so they aren't counted.  People that don't sign up for it aren't counted.  Older people who give up and decide to start drawing Social Security aren't counted.  People who decide to return to school because they an't find work aren't counted.  People on disability - legitimately or otherwise - aren't counted.

There are also underemployed - part-timers who want a full time job, temps who want a full time job, people who have a job below the level they should have based on their skills and experience - who are also not counted.

It's been estimated the true number of unemployed and underemployed is in the 20-25% range.  I don't know if that needs to be updated to a somewhat lower percentage

The 'number of new jobs' statistic is actually a worse stat to look at.  It is an estimate, not a hard figure, and easily manipulated.  Sometimes new jobs are double counted.  Sometimes lost jobs are not deducted.  Striking workers are considered 'employed'.  There is confusion and manipulation especially regarding seasonal jobs, farm jobs, government jobs, military jobs.

With most statistics, the thing to look at is the trend, not the statistic itself.  That is probably what Wall St was looking at today to cause the rally - especially after the Q1 GDP was revised down to negative 2.9% growth (contraction)

The best statistic to look at is total non-farm jobs, and the trend.  I think this number may be adjusted for seasonal jobs, not sure.

One of the linked articles didn't give total jobs but did include this comment:  "The labour force participation rate remained steady at 62.8%".  So not exactly a decrease in unemployment - or workforce participation percentage would have gone up.

I'm sorry; I was being sarcastic. We have the same political obfuscation here too. The opposition condemns the incumbent admin for fiddling the figures, yet if/when they're elected they continue the same fiddling the figures. Funny that. Politicians eh? Can't live with em, can't shoot em..

Why? Politicians are politicians. They just have different flags to wrap themselves up in and cry (well not in the UK-stiff upper lip and all that) when the audience demands it.

I've said numerous times that there are very few I have admired; From both sides of the divide. Sadly all now dead.

This is one of them.

Please watch it PB. This woman oozed humility and sheer decency..she was also a sexy lady in her younger days. This part is played by a fine actor, Julie Walters. I assure you, you WILL have something in your eye towards the end.

I hope you can see it in the US

You English are little better than primitive, grunting shaved apes on your isolated little island. Do you even know what a television is? I'll bet the French have seen those movies. Anyway, I don't think I've seen Crimson Tide. The porno is a bit outdated, and seems quaint in a world where most people are searching the words "Japan" and "Octopus" when looking for porn, but being a conservative I find DDD still a tad hot. But Star Wars? You haven't seen freaking Star Wars? It was filmed in London you nun-hating left-wing Cro-Magnon. Your assignment this week is to see Star Wars and learn of the love-hate relationship most of the planet has with George Lucas.

No, what is this television of which you speak? By what means of application of steam power is this device operated? I have heard rumours of horseless carriages too, the devils work to be sure...

If you think the English are apes, you haven't been to Scotland or North Wales.. 22 miles from Mainland Europe isn't isolated enough in my book.

You God-hating, America-debasing, Apple Pie-wasting no good scruffy-looking nerf herder!

Four words:
Denzel Washington. Gene Hackman.

Also James Gandolfini.(alright, Gandolfini before Sopranos).  & Viggo Mortensen (doesn't get a lot of screen time but is crucial to the story).

Tony Scott directed; some accused the film of being some kind of anti-war or anti-military rant. To me it was just a brilliant demonstration of the power Denzel and Gene can bring to a performance. These two were brilliant off each other.

I ain't watching no damned Denzel Washington movie. Hello, 1995 wants its actors back. I do like Gene Hackman though. It's actually submarine movies that I generally avoid. I get weird after watching them; The Hunt for Red October for example makes me pine away for the Soviet Union, Ronald Reagan and Thatcher and then I wake back up and see Joan Rivers alleging that Michelle Obama is a transsexual, the border's gone, and Premiere won't let Art come out of retirement. It's like living in the fucking twilight zone.

Well, the steam engine was the last thing of relevance to come out of the UK, so it's not surprising that you haven't heard of all of those wonderful American inventions. That is not to say that they aren't the Devil's work. That goes without saying.

I wouldn't want to be 22 miles from Europe either. I'll bet you can just feel the bloated EU bureaucracy wafting in the air across the channel like the smell of a nearby pig farm on a hot day.
