Well, what did the hater say in his email?  We're waiting.

It was from 1997, when a UFO event occurred over Arizona. Art had asked himself on air at some earlier time if some elected official, I think it was the governor of AZ, was mentally unstable due to an action of theirs regarding the event. Somebody wrote a 'how dare you call such-and-such person insane, you stupid idiot' type of letter to him. Art answered back that he did not call the person unstable, rather he merely asked the question, and then elaborated his point.

Which is kind of funny because when Art asks himself things on the air, like, 'Is this person unstable?', he does it in a way that lets you know he definitely thinks that they are crazy  ;D

I was struck by him actually taking someone to task over an email they wrote, though. I have been listening to Art here and there for a long time so that in itself shouldn't be a surprise, but unfortunately I also get a daily dose of Noory and he would never respond in a constructive way to an email that contained an ounce of criticism.

Just heard Art Bell read an email from a hater and then respond on-air. Whoa.

I don't remember hearing him compare himself to Cronkite and Murrow. The caller who brought up the subject of those two, who happened to be a private investigator, was making a point about modern news television. The caller said he was watching CNN coverage of the Boston marathon tragedy and he was appalled and disgusted by the fact that Wolf Blitzer had on a series of 'talking heads' who were mostly concerned with talking about themselves and feeling self-important rather than reporting the actual story. Either Noory or the caller brought up the point that C or M would have handled the situation with more grace, and how a few decades ago journalism was so much better, and funny enough it was Noory who said 'the story is not about them' (the journalists/talking heads), which is funny because GN makes every story about himself. I didn't hear GN compare himself to them directly or indirectly, but he did seem to imply that his and Cronkite's generation just generally did things better, in a nostalgic sort of way.

I could be wrong though; I only listen to the show a few minutes a night before falling asleep.

'Turmeric Man' being of course announced to the tune of 'Trojan Man!' (of Trojan brand condoms) whenever TM and Binge show up to the scene of a mildly burned mouth.

I have heard talk about 'warp drives' though, for faster-than-light travel. The speed of light is a constant but apparently space can be curved such that you could arrive at a destination faster than light, though you never actually go faster than c...which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me but I have heard people talking seriously about it.

So, lets get a thread going about gravity. Questions are as welcome as theories.  Don't be afraid to sound stupid. It just might help. Creativity is just as important as knowledge.

Let me start us off-

if gravity is a particle, why does gravity pull photons? photons have no mass, so I call BS on the HIGGS. Gravity is a wave.

Recognizing what gravity is, is the first step. Now how do we use this to make an engine?

As far as I know, at this point gravitons are purely theoretical objects and are not part of the standard model.
Gravity doesn't pull photons, it warps the space around them. I definitely can't back this up as I know only the basics of special relativity (I'm taking GR next quarter)

Dr. Brian Greene recently came to my school to pitch string theory and how it is really nice despite not having any experimental verification. After his talk he took questions and the very last one came from some guy who sounded so much like one of Snoory's fanboys "I think you are awesome. You are the most enlightened being on the planet etc etc, what do you think of the idea of the grand architect?" or something close to that. At that point a collective groan arose from the audience. A lot of people might think that people groaned because they were a bunch of god-hating physicists in the audience. But most likely they groaned because it is a waste of time to pose that question and what the fuck does it matter what Brian Greene thinks about god? It doesn't matter at all. Ask him about his work for crying out loud.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, Dr. Tyson has the role of diplomat, so he cannot answer the way many would like to respond, that is, "why the fuck are you wasting my time asking me about god? let's talk about physics".
#9
The ratio of "how much time people think scientists spend thinking about the existence of god" to "how much time scientists actually spend thinking about the existence of god" is absurdly large. It's actually really funny.

My favorite thing about George Noory? Probably his community activism and philanthropy. I heard he invited some homeless people to his house for Thanksgiving or something. I also heard he's involved with efforts to help convicts find inner peace in prison, just not the child molesters.

So, Noory has Neil deGrasse Tyson on tonight. I may actually listen for the first time in forever, because I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for Dr. Tyson. Unfortunately, I'm certain that Noory will ask questions on a first grade level. It will be somewhat interesting to see how Dr. Tyson handles this "interview".

Fuck, this will be awful. I won't be tuning in, because I don't want to hear Neil have to answer questions about Gawd, time travel, or the multiverse. Waiting for Valdez's summary...

For bigfoot to exist, they would have to number in the hundreds, if not thousands for the species to sustain themselves. They have been reported in pretty much every area of north america, areas where such a creature could not survive. What would these creatures eat? Why has not one bone been found? one hair? they must be magical creatures because their remains vanish like a fart in the wind. Eyewitness accounts mean shit when it comes to bigfoot, and it cant really be compared to eyewitness accounts in the court room. As a matter of fact, if someone said under oath that they saw bigfoot, there testimony would be thrown out. I figure most eyewitness accounts indeed saw something, most likely an animal like a bear or deer. But not one of these people saw a bigfoot.

The Huffington post 'reporters'  have by and large only a tenuous  grasp of English; their geography skills as well as inability to resist making a story out of .01% of sweet FA are marginal at best. So it comes as no surprise that they refer to a (likely) dead badger as a beast.

A certain Ruth Doherty (sp) is tasked to report on all things aviation; her ability to spin the commonplace into 'be afraid, be very afraid' is legendary

Maybe I'm missing your point, but the word beast doesn't necessarily refer to a monster. It can mean just a large, wild animal. At least in the US we sometimes use it that way.

I think he's busy organizing the scorpion army.

What is the scorpion army anyways? I googled it and the only relevant thing I found was from Ender's game.

Would it be a mean portal?

Nap before Knapp, but Snore through Snorge :)

That's pretty good! I think we may have a new top-right-of-the-page quote, if MV thinks it fit.

Heres that video I made of Noory telling us his pizza roll story.

George Noory's Pizza Roll Story

Fantastic! With the story unfolding before my eyes,  I definitely got caught up in George's drama.

That was the first time I've heard George's account and I have to mention something, though I am sure this has been mentioned a dozen times before:

Keep in mind I've been doing coast to coast for TEN YEARS. And I've missed one day. ONE DAY!

That is bullshit! He takes days off all the time.

Thanks for the link, Falksie (post 1131).  I especially noticed Art's quote, "I subscribe to the facts."  That's all I ask:  a critical mind discussing interesting topics (in particular, UFO's, paranormal events, and so forth).  Art seems to calmly consider the possibility that in global warming, human causation may be an important factor.  Noory, I suspect, would say, "Could the planet Nibiru be shifting closer to the earth?  Could werewolves perhaps be causing this?  What if we all took a massive dose of tumeric?"  Moron.

I have never even heard the Snorge take a moment to pause and actually think about something, before vomiting up some dumb retort like that. He is mortally afraid of dead air.

In reference to my previous post:

Actually, I remember he was saying the thing about her picture looking photoshopped right when I tuned in. So he may have been referring to a childhood photo? In which case, he is even creepier than I thought.

TBH, as much as I'm a fan, I thought he sounded a little spacey and lost last night (topic: Scientology), like he wasn't really paying attention. There were parts that flat-out made me wince. I think he kept drifting off.

Most of his bumper music was about pot, too. (LOL)

I liked the topic though. I'm probably going to get that book now.

He does tend to get a little quiet when the guests are female, that old softie. He was saying how nice she looked in some picture that he thought the picture might have been airbrushed or photoshopped. Lol. FRANKENSTEIN LIKE PRETTY LADY  :o

Ha.  Coincidentally, I saw this for the first time today.  (I desperately needed to distract myself from what I'm supposed to be doing, so, you know, why not google "coastgab"?)  I discovered three things:

1.  Those Zazzle t-shirts with "George Noory Sucks" and "Is it a portal"?  How does that work?  Did MV or someone here do it?  Is it some crazy automated algorithm that suggests t-shirts and we just type "George Noory Sucks" a whole hell of a lot?
2.  A shout-out to Coastgab on the Encyclopedia Dramatica page for Coast to Coast.
3.  Some twerp named phantomdriver on some private Dreamland forum says "The people at coastgab.com are losers."

Fascinating!

I like the 'sucks' part in red..its like the shirt is urgently telling people GN sucks and they need to know right now!!

as for 3. , time for forum war!

My apologies as it was, indeed, the FF forum moderator, the former Linnea.  However I did notice that I am not the only one who made this mistake but I am the only one you've bothered to correct. Why?

I don't know. Laziness? I think you were the last one to say it.
