I only hug saguaro cactus since I'm in the middle of the saguaro forest.

Note to self, do NOT take a drink of coffee while reading posts here.  I may end up with a coffee sinus wash in reverse.  I absolutely adore your post here Aldousburbank!
------------

On a different note - has anyone seen the picture Art posted this morning (for me anyhow on EST) in FB - he and Asia were mugging it up and I have to say I really miss his mustache as his face looks so wrong without it...

I am glad to see that he's actually posting things that only he would/could post.  Even if Airyn is the one posting in that FB account most of the time...  and he looks happy and totally wrapped around his (just about to turn) 4 year old's finger.

Simile, metaphor, it's all the same, all a buncha tree-huggin' hippie CRAP.
Oh wow man.  I just remembered what I was going to say...
Take a look at the missus here and tell me, how much do you love tree hugging hippies?

That's what I thought.

Hey man, like that's not a very cool way to talk to your elderly coastgabbers here...
And anyway, I only hug saguaro cactus since I'm in the middle of the saguaro forest.  And also, uh... what were we talking about?

Oh right- just in case you thought I really look like my avatar, that's an old photo.  Here's what I look like now, because that way they won't hire me as one of the blue-vesters at WallMart, giving me more time to hug saguaros.

OK, my friend, now I have to know your secret for keeping your gorgeous wife happy with your prickly ass out there in the desert!  How far are you from, say, a grocery store?

Haha.  Unfortunately, they don't ever, ever look like that.
This girl looks like she has high heels on.

Definitely the money anagrammy, you know how we hippies are always rolling in (sometimes with) cash.  Also, I do a hell of a Jim Morrison imitation.

BTW, I'm as far from a grocery store as I can get.  Then again, I usually grow enuf edibles to feed a couple of hundred families.  So I guess I have 2 talents.

She's definitely high, but no heels.

Errr, no.  I was in Northern California during the hippie era and you missed the wavy lines coming out of the top of her head, plus there are no twigs in her hair.  She is a Columbia undergrad on her way to a 70's party.

Look at her neckline, she has a frigging bikini tan.

that's funny!

1.  No way in hell that model is a real hippie.  Come on.  Do you really think she reeks of patchouli? The amount of chemicals that wash in the the sewers to get her hair to look like that is enough to kill a whale.

2.  The it-looks-increasingly-like-the-real-AB FB has changed it so that you can't look at the wall without friending it.  Lame.  I would understand if it was created just for his friends and family to share info, but clearly it isn't.  That picture is damn cute, too.  Now it's time to make the hard decisions.  Friend request or not?  Maybe you guys who have friended it can just keep the rest of us appraised of the situation, eh?

not to mention the "who really gives a shit factor."

I understand to many of fans of Art a phony fb is bothersome. But it really seems Art is done. So some fb wannabe loser taking AB's name is like a kid putting a towel on treir neck to play superman.
i have to say that to a degree, this articulates how i feel.  i haven't had a cigarette in a few hours, so what i'm about to write on this subject might be a bit more "direct" than would typically be the case for me.

ok, so someone is impersonating art.  big deal.  it doesn't affect anyone here personally in any way whatsoever, and it's arguable as to whether it even affects art himself.  while we're sitting here frothing at the mouth over an impostor who creepily perches himself at an increasingly uninteresting website called facebook, art is tucked away in his posh manilla high rise investing probably sixty to ninety seconds of his personal time in this matter on a daily basis (IF THAT).  let art tap his millions and hire an attorney or a private investigator if it's that important to him.  gathering information about an impostor and passing it along to an otherwise uninterested art bell are not on my "to do" list.  i'm not singling anyone out here, so please understand that and don't be offended.  i'm just saying what i think needs to be said.

i guess these feelings spring from the bigger picture of my ever increasing indifference toward art's plans and/or coast to coast am in general.  i feel strung along as a fan, and that feeling has persisted since 2002.  sometimes, a skimming of this forum prompts the question, "when is everyone else going to start feeling the way i've felt for so long now?  for how long will this continue?"

it's the reason a format change on this forum is imminent; a radical format change... a break from the dying past.  none of coastgab's content will be lost, but the focus is going to shift entirely.  some people will stick around.  some won't.  some will join just BECAUSE OF the format change.  that's the breaks.  i personally can't wait.

it's time.

Do we have to go through a portal to get there??

The Art I know would never say, "I may get in trouble but..." This guy stood up to Premiere and won.  If you want to friend Airyn, help yourself.  Just don't think it's art saying "ya" instead of "you."

Dear friends,

We are gathered here to say goodbye to our beloved Art Bell Quits Coast thread.  It brought us all laughter, intrigue, outrage, twisty turns, and funky breaks.  We will all miss not knowing what surprise might be lurking around the corner, like some mischievous portal messing with our minds.  Sometimes it was sad, freaky even.  But in spite of this, it gave us all a few yuks.  What more can a single thread do within its lifetime?  Bye little thread, we'll miss you, kind of.

Rest In Peace

I am going to set up some digital recorders. We may get a few ETP's (electronic thread phenomena).

I am also going to immediately read all the posts backward. Hopefully I will find some hidden message.

Then again, it may be living in Oregon with Jim Morrison and Osama Bin Laden, disguised as Page 87.

John Titor has just sent me a message from page 135 of this thread. He told me that around page 111 there will be a giant war amongst posters which will split the forum in two, and that he has come back to this page to get the posts needed to allow it to survive to page 150 and beyond. However, we may not actually SEE those posts, since in the act of coming back here, he has changed the timeline. So SOME of those things may occur in OUR timeline, or they may NOT. But sadly he can never truly go back home.

I set him up with a 12 pack and some hookers. Hope that'll at least keep him happy.

anagrammy

Pass the mic... thank you.  In this celebration of the life of the Art Bell Quits Thread, I think the thread would be proud to see us gathering today, happy that we've moved on with our lives.  We will never forget you, thread, and the genuine belly laughs that you brought us when we heard Noory and thought, briefly, that we couldn't go on.

Let us remember the good times, the memorable quotes, the lively bashings and the raw emotions triggered by Fort Rock and his Portland source, which served as our bonding and helped us to detach from Art Bell and reluctantly let him shave his moustache, stop smoking and go into retirement as a regular guy.

There will never be a thread like Art Bell Quits Coast -- HIP HIP  HOORAY!  HIP HIP HOORAY!

Re: 'format change' for coastgag.

sounds ominous. Hope it's awesomely good or gooder.

However, not to be overly negative (like that's a new thing here-abouts),
hope the format-change is NOT one where the posting format is made more
difficult.

Topic change/changes?

Hope that has to do with the range of interests that were hoped for and
never got, or like and got too little of in the sphere of 'ArtBelldom'
and inheritors.

I think this is a great site.  Pretty generous with all postings, very
patient with various tangents by posters including mine.

It's a great site.

Could be a kernal of a whole new crop and evolve into a radio-show of
its own and in its own right. Pod-castings, streamings, whatever.

I just noticed I wrote 'coastgag' rather than coastgab.  Not gonna change
it, since there has been some great humor on this site. Deep stuff, silly
stuff, all kinds of interesting stuff . . . maybe a little shallow when
in depth discussions are attempted . . . but that's okay.  And I haven't
explored all the different topics yet.

Guess ere I can do that, it will be 'archived' and I'll be reading stuff
restricted to the past.

The past is big! But the future is bigger, idn't it? Or are they the
same size?

Ugh!  I fear that future that can only be entered via 'captcha' or
the same old acoucher policemen that attended the rebirth of 'Coast'.

Roger

I'm sure we all have great expectations (ahem . . . that was supposed to be
'accoucheur-policemen' . . . me spieling not so good.)

I think this thread deserves a page 86.  So close.

Roger

Well I don't know about ye'all, but for me about the most entertaining and
even enlightening aspect of these pages is that image of Aldousburbank
with a cigar haning out of his lips, practically saying: suck it up
probie!  Just enough encouragement to just keep on keeping on.

I don't know about the 'later' versions of that soul. For me: that guy
is utterly cool and must have helped a bunch of very terrified souls
following orders from going utterly insane.  Who could be crazier
but more together than that guy?

Thank you for your service.  Services. Ye keep on going on bro, er else.
Right? Er what?

Did you ever light that thing?

Fly By Night

Art Bell should grow his M-stash back
