Yikes! It is like those vids of paddle boards who are clueless that a Great White is stalking them. If you are skiing moguls in Transylvania (bad enough that bear could be a shape-shifted vampire because you didn't tip the Gypsy beggars at the lift-station and she gave you an evil-eye curse)  or standing on a board in the ocean I don't think a warning "bear" or "shark" is a good thing. Focus on task of not falling and getting the heck away, to shore, or down the slope where the bear might be more interested in someone else!

That reminds me of the joke about the 2 hunters doubting they could outrun the bear. One guy says: "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you!" heh heh

Is it legal for employers to discriminate for purposes of employment or continued employment based on real or percieved political affiliation?

Here are some examples of Equal Employment Opportunity Rights posters:

Apparently, it is totally legit and legal to discriminate based on political affiliation.  I assume this applies both towards negative and positive discrimination.

I need to make some new Employment applications that ask cool questions like:

"Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Antifa Party?"

"Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Bull-Moose Party?"

"Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?"

"Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Democrat Party?"

"Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Green Party?"

"Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Libertarian Party?"

"Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Red Herring Party?"

"Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Republican Party?"

"Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Whig Party?"

I won't tell them in advance, but I will only consider Whigs and Bull-Moose applicants for employment, and maybe Libertarians if I am desperate for help.  I need more Red-Herring Parties in there, as I am certain I have missed a great many.  I think the first five pages should be questions about political affiliation, then you can decide if you want to write your name, address and (((SS))) number in.

Bear this in mind when applying for plums and seats at the Banquet Table for the "pate/???? 2024" Kamp Pain.

TIA! IIAHTS.

Never knew this site existed: Internet Movie Cars Database

Wanna know about that yellow 'Cuda in Season 4 Episode 22 of Charlie's Angels?   They have you covered in schizoid detail.

Hey Walks, did you know this one existed?

Some of these really serious gun guys are critical of the site, claiming it's got a lot of inaccuracies.  I've found it to a good overall reference site.

Aha! No. I didn't Duke. People are amazing.

This GameStop thing is amusing. Good ole Jacob Frenkel here is pissed that the little guy is putting the hurt on a hedgefund. Only the big fish should be allowed to manipulate stocks.

Basically some Hedge Fund has a short position due Friday on GameStop stock. So Reddit and a bunch of internet boards have been working to drive the price to the moon. The fund has already had to borrow like 2.75 billion.

GameStop short-sellers have lost $5 billion this year as Reddit's day-trader army squeezed their bearish bets

It is interesting to be sure. Some serious money tied up in it. If they keep it up, very well may bring down some of those hedgers. Will Mr. Biden bail them out?  8)

It would be the evil thing to do so probably. That one establishment hack in the vid seemed to want the SEC to step in and halt trading on the stock. I’m surprised K_Dudd isn’t desperately trying to blow the guy.

QuoteThe swabs are inserted 3 to 5 centimeters 1.2 to 2 inches inside the rectum, according to the outlet.

Tongzeng said that the method can increase the rate of detectability and lowers the chances of missing a diagnosis.

“What we’ve found is that in some infected patients, the coronavirus survives for a longer period of time in their digestive tract or excrement than in their respiratory tract,” Tongzeng told the outlet.

The experts have clearly missed this obvious aerosol route to transmission.  A fart is just a southern sneeze.  Time for butt masks.

1) Tracking it via fecal transmissions (sewers, cess pits, vessels, plumbing, etc) has been going for months. The Chi-Coms are just getting advice from Whitley as to a better way to test- at a source closer.

2) This is either some kind of 'affirmative defense' if an Okie shoots a shaggy illegal or vagrant he can claim 'I thought it was a Bigfeet'  OR that they think the Bigfeet that Buggs and his buddy hunted on the TX side of the border have crossed over due to some Red River and tributary disputes and they want the bounty or C2C fame.

3) She/it/He is only the 'assistant health secretary' but due to Xiden's order she/he/it could now also serve, assuming she meets whatever lower standards have been set, in the military. These shock troops would rival African warlord BuckNaked and cross-dressing soldiers. Yes, this was a thing. One notes also that this "Rachel Levine" character, claiming as a diverse candidate, would only adding to the shockingly disproportionate number of government appointees under the new regime who are of certain Tribes.

I heard that earlier on in the day and laughed like hell. The idea of shorting is to bet against a stock. Often, it has the consequence of forcing the price down (anybody how owns the stock loses out.) There is nothing inherently wrong with this. But there also is nothing wrong with betting that there will be a short squeeze and buying stock. It has been done for decades and is not uncommon. The only difference is that it is a bunch of snot nosed little dweebs fucking over elite billionaires instead of the billionaires fucking over mainstreet.

I recall once reading advice against shorting a stock. The reason was because if you are long, and it goes up- your profits can be unlimited. If you are long, and it goes down, your maximum loss is 100%.

Now, if you are short, your maximum upside is 100%. But your maximum loss is unlimited. And it only gets worse in a short squeeze forcing margin calls. Perhaps the manager of this fund should have read "investing for dummies..."

*Above examples do not apply on margin- but the risk (as our dear hedge fund manager is, undoubtedly discovering) increases exponentially. I hope it keeps going and he has to liquidate and the lenders get screwed for keeping him afloat rather than forcing him to liquidate earlier. I'm really sick of zombie corporations that should be dead continuing on forever. Capitalism was supposed to force these zombies to die.

In these strange days, I will point out that there are "other positions," economic-wise.  And political. Tarred by some former, but so are others- not to the same extent, of course? But still, considering, as a thinking man, why only 2 options? Or 2 parties? Or incorporation a real, legal entity with forever-life unless some also public reason or value, aside from shareholder value? Just questions, for debate.

GameStop bought out Stardock, which was a competitor to Steam(ing pile of shit).  I don't remember if it was one of those "hostile" takeover deals, or if Stardock just wanted out of the business...

I wonder if I still have all the games I bought at Stardock somewhere in the cloud?

Probably can only get to them at Steam(ing pile of shit)...  Fuck Steam, and very probably fuck GameStop too..

In somewhat " related" news.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/25/business/leon-black-apollo-jeffrey-epstein.html

"Mr. Black’s payments effectively bankrolled the lifestyle of Mr. Epstein â€" whom Mr. Black viewed as a “confirmed bachelor with eclectic tastes,”

"Black is a son of Eli M. Black (1921â€"1975), a prominent Jewish businessman who emigrated from Poland and was best known for owning the United Brands Company. His mother, Shirley Lubell (sister of Tulsa oil executive Benedict I. Lubell) was an artist. In 1975, his father committed suicide by jumping out of the 44th floor of the Pan Am Building in New York City. It was later made public that, at the time, federal regulators were investigating allegations that United Brands was bribing Honduran government officials"- according to his wiki
