You have no idea the glimmer of hope this gives me.  I've been really bummed the last few years because I was becoming convinced that the world was more lame, open, mundane, incompetent, and dissolved of mystery than I would ever like.  I'm still not convinced that that's not the case, but maybe, just maybe, there are a few big secrets there after all.

This bothers me too.  When I was young, I believed in suppressed technology and many other mysteries.  One by one, I've gotten disappointed into a fairly skeptical world view, and it's boring.  The one exception is flying saucers.  Reading James McDonald on Blue Book, and then reading Richard Dolan, it's clear that, while many saucer sightings may be misidentifications or hoaxes, there's a small number that

were seen by trained and reliable military personnel
were seen visually from different locations
were tracked on radar and visually
behaved in ways impossible for our technology

Unfortunately the general public (me) is no closer to understanding this than ever.
