Art--was thinking of your requirement of a high energy opening...so I explored the masters, Led Zeppelin AND found 4 awesome ones for your consideration:

1.) Ramble on--lyrically cool and really rocking.

2.) When the Levee Breaks--another epic rocker with lyrics that can fit the show well enough.

3.) Stairway to Heaven--doesn't rock the whole way and used a lot but still it's awesome and metaphysical.

4.) Babe I'm Gonna Leave You--just about my favorite...it is absolutely THUNDERING.

Found one more, more obscure from the last ANIMALS album(Ark 1983) AND it's fittingly called:

THE NIGHT--sang with great energy by the great Eric Burdon.

Some of the lyrics(skipping around some):

        Well here comes the night
It's dark shadows passing over me
        I've been feeling the chill
        Ever since you've been gone

Don't you know that the night
        keeps moving on(keeps moving on)
It keeps getting colder and colder
The night, is always too long
        (Always too long) I keep
        looking over my shoulder

The night, I pray for the dawn
        (pray for the dawn)
It keeps getting colder and colder
The night, is always too long
        baby your gone

        The night!

It really is a tough choice, on the one hand The Chase was and is mine, I picked it. On the other hand there is a lot of good stuff people have put up...Thinking

If you did pick The Chase--it would be like U-2 stealing back Helter Skelter back from Charles Manson for the Beatles!

Hmmmm....love fest?  Nah, too many spiky personalities around here for us to go into full sappiness mode.  There is a reason we are labeled vaguely lovable...which sort of describes Art too.  BellGab is not a marsh mellow world.

I don't think I am so much of a threat because Dave has taken the show in such a way that is no longer much like I did. For people with long memories you might remember I did a lot of open lines, i did more technical type shows. I did not do Health or many conspiracy type shows. A lot of my people simply left, they will find me in time. Perhaps some who have been frustrated but hung on will switch but there are some I hope stay where they are.

Art

I'm sure you'd welcome JC!  If the real one is still out there.

Coast is not doomed and I do not wish it to be. There is room for us both. Dave has his listener base and I will find mine which for the most part scattered back into other aspects of life. We do very different types of shows.

The one thing I will react to is if they ever tell Guests that being on my show will not let them be on Coast, that will bring a very quick reaction.

Otherwise I say, live and let live.

Art

I actually like that--stay above the hate and do your own thing.  We have our Dave hater section here for those who dig that BUT yes Art, you should stay and be above that and focus on getting your show flowing.

Looked up Pandora--not sure it fits what Art has been describing...supposedly it is only in the USA, Australia and New Zealand.  If I get Art right--he was saying what he would be using would be available worldwide and not just 3 countries.  Which wouldn't fit Pandora.

Time will tell.

No. it's just that Art kind of hinted at that being possible.

People of opposing viewpoints have a problem with the echo chamber of the right wing, who tend to just repeat whatever Rush says that day.

@DesertFox, I think the show's start date all depends on how soon the studio can be built and the timing of Art's family trip that he mentioned sometime back (assuming all goes well on the business side of things).

Thanks--I guess it might end up a little later than July.  I also wonder when Art will be free to give all the rest of info about the details of his coming show.

Can't wait to hear the details.

I don't agree with Rush, but the Man has talent. A lot of people confuse disagreement with lack of talent. He has done many funny things over the Years.

As for all the questions everybody has I simply can not answer them all yet, sorry.

Art

Art--do have a general estimate of when you can share more of the plans for MiTD?  Would it be very close to July?  Or is it still up in the air yet when you can share more?

And yes--regardless of what one thinks of Limbaugh's views, he is one of the few who have really impacted radio.  That's not debatable.

I started this issue by noting that Art, like Rush, could change the way radio is listened to. This is not a political statement, but it is reality.  Rush saved AM radio by shear force of will, like it or not, a view stated by Art himself.  And I want Art to do the same thing with "new" radio.  Anyone who disagrees please take it to the political area of this site, my statement is not based on politics or the left-right political argument, but on the true history of AM radio. Politics can be covered elsewhere.

Absolutely--there is a political thread for those who need to spout off.

+1 for Vikings . It's one of the few shows I follow & I don't watch it on TV. I also heard about it online first. Internet has pretty much replaced traditional TV+Radio for me.

+2 Vikings is a really good show.  Bloody, fun and intense...very well acted with nice production.

Point is I know the words but those who use them all the time I think can not form a better way to express themselves.

As far as the show is concerned I have listeners from 8-80 Years old, why would I want to drive some of them away? As a Parent when I hear gutter language I turn it off, my guess is most decent Parents do.

Beyond that, I don't listen myself to radio shows where every fifth word is the f bomb. I think most times the kind of content I like would be spoiled with that language, it has shock value the first couple of times and after that is just hard to listen to.

Art

Makes perfect sense--don't think there was a strong desire for swear words except a very very small crowd when it comes to Art Bell.  You  use the language with great skill--swear worlds aren't necessary and also who needs some callers spouting off verbal diarrhea.

Art also needs to post something about George Noory's dietary habits in the GNS sucks thread, and get into a spiteful argument in the politics section along either liberal or conservative party lines.

Thank you Desert Fox and Pyewacket.  I am aware of Art's comment back then.  I am asking HIM about now.  If he has spent the last 2. Years listening to some of the people he will want to interview he would see they occasionally cuss.  I'm not even saying art has to but I think having a "no cussing" rule is, I don't know what it is, and don't want to use the wrong words.  I'm for cussing.

Well I doubt Art will change--he was really firm about it...you can always ask but in the end lets let the master run his show how he sees fit.  Anyone who calls will just have to deal with it--the vast majority shouldn't have a problem with avoiding a few choice words.
