That makes it sound like enough money is coming in for them to continue, either on subscriptions and ads alone, or perhaps Art is willing to subsidize it to a certain extent for a certain amount of time.

Art also seems to think the show will continue, as he's mentioned coming back to do a show now and then (which is probably how the whole thing should have been set up in the first place).

Lol. Keith is no dummy. 8)

;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

I'm not looking for a fight, I'm genuinely asking with no other motives. When someone says there are people out there who make $800 in fifteen minutes for fortune telling, that's going to make anyone want to know more.

I've literally never encountered a gypsy or fortune teller before.

Too bad the poll function is disabled.  Here are 3 possibilities regarding this:

A)  Everything thing Art has reported is 100% accurate

B)  It's an excuse to quit doing the how full time - either completely made up, or created from a few minor random events and embellished.

C)  Art is a bit of a nut - a semi-hermit with a touch of paranoia along with a wild imagination and an inclination towards conspiracy theories - who happens to have a rare talent for hosting a radio program, who currently believes he has a stalker/shooter when none actually exists.

I like c. I know some prick like that. 8)

I don't want to pile on RoseGirl, I actually like her. But I would like more info on the astrologers who get $800 for 15 minutes and the world leaders who have psychics and astrologers as advisers. I know next to nothing about that world and the whole gypsy thing but find it interesting.

Not sure about those astrologers, but they're probably out there. There are expensive, well known psychics and here's one of those list articles- 5 richest psychics. Psychic to the stars, TV psychic, admitted debunker and illusionist, a spoon bender, and Sylvia Browne-

There was a dude in the forums that mentioned the difference of hate. He was right. The negro spirituals were fun.  People will find what they want to bitch about no matter if it is based.......or not. 8)

Sylvia Browne is worth 70 million dollars???

Ah the late and departed Sylvia Browne who sounded like one of Homer Simpsons sister-in-laws.

Remember when there was the mine disaster in the eastern US and Art had her on that evening? She claimed that a few people had survived the cave in.

Wrong! I turned out that all had died.

Quimby- It would be interesting to see if someone could do a "reading" for you via Bellgab. You could start a thread asking for anyone here with divination skills to participate. It would be better than what we've got going on now. I learned how to read cards- if we get enough to play we might even be able to scare up a little friendly competition.  Knowing this group, you would probably be more likely to end up with comedy gold. ;)

I used to see her ads for some stage show she did all the time around casinos and venues across the country. I was always so curious what that show would be. She's too old to dance and she's obviously not singing. To me she was the ultimate huckster up there with Sean David Morton and Ed Dames.

I would be interested in that but at the same time I'm not sure I really want to know. Outside of dying in one of my mansions in bed with several big breasted women a quarter of my age, I'm willing to improv the rest.

The belief that Art made everything up to quit is very far fetched

A) There was an easier route. Why not fake an illness. This would have been easy to hide, and would not have committed a crime.
B) The police reports mean that Art making this up would have been a crime
C) The neighbors called the police for at least one incident, not Art.

He will be back.

He will be back.

You must know his mind better than he does then because he says he doesn't intend to return, and I think most people have stopped caring one way or the other - it would be only a matter of a few weeks before he started making some more noises about going away again. He has repeatedly demonstrated that he has very mixed feeling about the show, and kept dropping hints that he was less than totally committed. He enjoys the idea of broadcasting but finds the day-to-day business of being on the air a bit too much of an imposition and starts to look for a way out. I don't know if he has made stuff up, but he has been behaving sufficiently oddly to at least make it a feasible possibility. All those things about it being far-fetched assume that he is in his right mind to begin with. There are all sorts of instances where he has shown that he might not be entirely grounded in reality and prone to making poor decisions.

Which crime has been committed?
Quote
B) The police reports mean that Art making this up would have been a crime

Only if he'd submitted a signed statement causing the police to pursue an investigation; he hasn't indicated he's done either. In fact he's specifically not wanted any further action by the police.

Calling the cops and saying someone shot at you isn't terribly difficult.  Faking an illness would be harder, not easier.  You would have to remember to fake your symptoms, keep them consistent, and God forbid, probably stay off the radio for a while.

Besides, he's already tried the health gambit, with his "bad back" all those years ago.  Fans probably wouldn't buy "health problems" again, and besides, if you need constant drama, novelty is a key part of that.
QuoteB) The police reports mean that Art making this up would have been a crime

While it's true that filing false police reports is a crime, prosecutors need to be able to prove you're lying.  How exactly are they supposed to prove that someone didn't shoot at Art's house?

QuoteC) The neighbors called the police for at least one incident, not Art.

That's not the case as I understand it.  IIRC, Art's story is that the neighbor called Art, and Art, or someone in his employ, called the cops and relayed the neighbor's story.

QuoteHe will be back.

Gee, ya think?

Someone really did shoot at Art's house and threaten to kill him and his family.

Please forgive me.

Well look at it this was folks Art came back and was milking a very dry cow. Most of his best guests were either dead or in nursing homes.
Or would tell the same old boring stories. Cheeeerist Almighty If I never have to hear RAF Bentwaters and Rendenlsham Forest ever again
I'll be a happy man. Or Missing 911 shit about people disappearing in national forest. Or Bigfeets buried in a secret grave that nobody has ever verified. After this crap the last six months Art realized the Fat Lady has sung for him and it's time to leave the Late Night Radio Stage.
Just like Carson, Leno and Letterman did on TV.

All the old guests are either dead or they recycle the same shit, plus the are on every other paranormal show.
Any new guest people seem to dislike, ya cant win, the market is saturated with the same old shit.
People want the old guests and complain they say the same thing, people want new guests and they dont like them because they are new.
Keith should just shut the network down, its just not worth his time anymore.

With no clothes...but hey, one day the scales will fall from your eyes.

OR

AB had a crack team of heavily armed assassins stake out and then made their move to scare the shit out of him and his family. When that didn't work, they stepped up their game and made him hang up his cans and flounce off into the sunset.

Yeah. That's it.
