The Volcanic Activities Thread.
« on: March 25, 2017, 08:05:02 PM »
Rather than post a new thread for every new volcanic eruption or increased volcanic activity, I'll post updates and new events here.  There are so many eruptions going on in the world right now, MV might get a little miffed at me for the numerous threads that would require for me to report individually.

Here is a link for all volcanic activity worldwide.

In central Mexico, the volcano Popocatépetl.  live stream:  http://www.webcamsdemexico.com/webcam-popocatepetl.html , or CENAPRED:  http://www.cenapred.unam.mx/popo/UltimaImagenVolcan.html

Popocatépetl, "Smoking Mountain", is always wheezing, and coughing, and belching, and sometimes spewing out lava, like a very old man with a bad lung.

I've made lots of posts. What is this--a euphemism?

Precisely. You posted that--you had a particular vision in your mind for your ideal intended audience.

Now, define that. Take pleasure.

Mount Jackstar erupts; Effects Widespread
Bellgabs Posters were shocked at the sight of Mount Jackstar erupting Saturday. While nobody was injured as of the time of writing of report, its estimated that several may have been triggered or perhaps even goaded to a flame war against Jackstar, a long-time member of Bellgab, by his acerbic and often mysterious wit.
While such a practice of frequent posting is called flooding, officials say this may not have been his intent. An unidentified official claimed "He didn't get to go to Bingo at noon, he had to make up for this somehow. Posting of his row of avatars also points out the possibility that he might have OCD." A regular poster claimed "He's like black-coffee. I'm just going to brew a pot and enjoy his posts."

Indeed.  Except flooding would be more like a lahar, for Jackstar. ;)

Sharp catch! You really might have laser beams for eyes. AP format is  expressed "Apr. 8, 2017 3:36 PM ET," for example. Learn something everyday.

Iceland on High Alert as Volcano Threatens To Erupt.
Published on Apr 9, 2017
On top of a wall of blue ice is the outflow of a massive glacier that sits on top of Katla, one of Iceland’s most active volcanoes. An intricate system of sensors monitors the glacier’s every move because when Katla erupts, it won’t be fire but flood waters that will engulf the valley below it.
