I might not be paying attention but when is winter coming? 4 seasons now and no winter snow, well except at the wall last week.
What gives?
The mantra 'winter is coming' during the entire 1st season led me to believe it was some huge plot point or something. Let down.

On "Planet Martin", seasons aren't measured in months of a set time, they happen in years of unknown duration.  Crops can't grow during the winter season, so it is always important to prepare for rough times so that you are ready.  Hence, the words of House Stark... "Winter is coming."  They're like the Boy Scouts of Westeros...

Game Of Thrones on TV is covering now material that was in the third and fourth books, mainly.  He ran into a problem while writing and had a period of time where two books were happening at the same time.  Rather than have only half of the people on the show for a season, then expect them to be come back to work after being off a year...  By Book 5 this problem was fixed.

The sixth book is going to be titled "The Winds Of Winter."

Just wanted to pop in here and wail about how much my Sundays are going to suck now, but at least now I'll be able to catch up in the books. Does anyone know when Season 5 starts?  :(

Long live The Hound. If he dies of that infected bite, I will weep.

I suspect that the Red Viper of Dawn's will is still being made manifest this week.  We'll see.

I like the Hound.  He's a lot more likable than his brother. Which isn't saying much.

Noticed that no one had put these on here yet. They win the internet.

I would guess March or April next year.  True Blood final season is this year... starting next week or so on Sundays.  Don't know if you ever got into that show...  It's like "Twilight" for adults.

The book and the TV show... that played out differently.

Oberyn was the "Red Viper" of Dorne.  It's the southernmost "kingdom" in Westeros.  Ruled by House Martell.  House words (Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken) also explain why they have "Princes" and not "Lords."  When Aegon the Conqueror back in the day was whooping ass all over Westeros, he only defeated six of the seven kingdoms.  An alliance was formed, and House Martell married into the Targaryen family, thus ending the war.  That's why Oberyn's sister was married to Rhaegar Targaryen... and why Tywin had "The Mountain" kill her and her kids off when they sacked King's Landing during Robert's Rebellion.

Bronn: "What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?"

Tyrion: "Do Dornish girls count?"

OK, I hated the way The Hound's storyline ended. HATED.

WTF. I need more closure than that. I don't wanna post spoilers or anything, so I'll just say I thought that was a weird anticlimactic way for that relationship to end.

The whole episode left a weird, sad taste in my mouth, actually. I don't know how I feel about it. Father's Day dinner at my house turned into the typical drunken family fiasco that is every holiday here, so I need to watch this episode again without the haze of vodka and family dysfunction hanging over me.

I will say this, though ...

SKELETONS JUMPING OUT OF THE SNOW WAHHHHHHHHH THAT WAS SOME SCARY SH*T RIGHT THERE, KIDS! WOOOOOO! GAWD DAMMIT!

Spoiler!!!
I haven't read the books so I don't know for certain what ultimately  happens to the hound. I'm hoping someone comes along to help him or turns him over to kings landing for the $. That is, if his injuries aren't fatal. It would be nice to see him return next season.

Heh.

It's funny to see these kid actors grow up between seasons. Especially when the length of time in the story is supposedly only days or weeks. At the start of this season, that kid suddenly turned into an awkward looking teenager. Next season we won't even recognize him & he will be as big as Hordor! He'll be the man flying apparently.

That, and some of the people got increased in age for the show, due to acting ability and laws.  Bran is seven years old in the books when his daddy took him to his first beheading (shown in the first episode).  And no way in hell they'd let HBO have Daenerys be in her early teens...

I recommend watching another HBO mini series called "Rome". It's GoT but without magic and dragons. I think it might have more sex and violence.

What the Fuck is game of Thornes?

Top quality televisual entertainment featuring incest, torture, murder, and rape.

If you can imagine Bohemian Grove, only with Dragons instead of Owls.

I think you guys know how much I enjoy GoT. But I think "Rome" might actually be better.
