How To Use BellGab / Re: Search Bar at the Top of the Page
« on: May 21, 2017, 12:56:04 AM »
I'm not really complaining. I understand that you may have your own reasons for doing it but I have to concur with Jack. The search is essentially useless now. I don't use it anymore, anyway. Search for me now is just poking around the home page trying to find what I'm looking for. You should just get rid of the search function altogether rather than keep the (severely hampered) way it is. That might save you some resources.

What is it you needed to find that the new search failed you on? You'll need to be more specific than "it's essentially useless" because that isn't information I can do anything with. Have you taken any time to learn about Google search operators? It is literally Google Search you're now using to search the forum.

Same here.  If I had to listen to that depressing shit all the time, I'd no doubt be having some terminal thoughts.  Give me good 'ol rock and roll.

Fine, but KISS? Bleh.

no show tonight.  if there is one this week, it'll be tomorrow.  i have to replace the computer that's used to stream the show.  that's why we had all of the buffering issues during the live show last week.

and thats why firefub only goes to ip addresses that do not begin with 1 or 2.

You point that out as if it weren't assumed.

Actually, I think even if you don't like folk music before seeing you may be a bit of a fan after seeing it.

i think you're right.  entirely possible.

I'm still having issues with the stream. Every few minutes it stutters and then stops. Instead I've been binge-ing on the Fret Files. That's a cool show. I'm not a guitar enthusiast but the nerd in me finds it pretty interesting.

i'm beginning to think it's the machine i use to stream.  i'll probably be replacing that computer... hopefully before monday night.

If you like folk music it's worth checking out the whole thing. Even if you don't, really.  ;)

nah, it's got nothing to do with whether you like folk music.

I just wanted to thank MV for the improvements over at UFOSHIP.com, the upgrades are "Yuge!".

I haven't noticed any issues with streaming since you made the upgrades.  I can now just start the stream and chill out to any of the many quality VanDeVen Enterprises has produced: Michael VanDeVens Radio Trainwreck(with Evelyn), The Gabcast, and The Spec Sheet (with Curtis aka The MudKing aka Red).

I'm so happy that Michael VanDeVens Radio Trainwreck has returned from hiatus.  Evelyn still has a copious amount of lung butter stuck in her throat. Some things never change!

Again, and thank yeeeeeeeeeewwwww very much, Sir!  Praise MV!

Hog

Thx bud. Apparently the new stream hosting company isn't what I thought they'd be, so I'm going to make a switch there. Again. The live audience on the last TW show suffered through a storm of audio buffering. Yay.

It was quite the drama. Dr. j left DMRN in a huff and went to Leo Asshat's (the original MITD news guy) soon to be network that never materialized. I haven't listened to him since, but evidently he still has a website.

http://drjradiolive.com/
Dr. J sent me some snotty emails over nothing a year or so back.  Came off as a real bitch.  Then, many months later, his "producer" or someone associated with his "show" had the nerve to ask me for consulting help on the technical side of putting together a live show online.  Not sure why, since I thought he was already doing a show... but whatever.  Dude's a douche.

The stream would speed up for segments, and the buffering breaking up often. The speeding up was more annoying than the buffering issue.

jeez.  glad i didn't know this was happening.  it would have totally psyched me out.

And was hospitalized for 3 days and released.

new from Vandeven Enterprise's award winning FireFub:

we are pleased to announce our new '4chan hacker' profile that can be loaded in the persona plug-in.  Cutting edge machine learning code files will monitor and track in real time any files on your system that have meaning to you and safely and securely delete them with multiple DoD low level formatting protocols.  with this new persona you too can feel safe and secure.

as they always say, and accurately so, you're going to have to compromise some amount of convenience in exchange for security.  can't have it both ways.

I would like an improvement on the "Could not connect" error messages.  Something in a larger, snazzier font.  Maybe include a grumpy cat pic to bring it up to modern standards.

what if we were to include a script that initiates the windows shutdown routine when a webpage fails to load?  let me know and i'll get with the dev team.

Amazing how much faster chrome is when you ungoogle it.

https://github.com/Eloston/ungoogled-chromium

i would use that, for sure, but it's just so nice having all of my browser stuff synced between machines at home/work/mobile.
