Have you seen something different going on over the past year?

Of course! I don't fall for the mainstream narratives anymore. Reagan made lots of bipartisan deals too.  ;)

He had to because the Democratic Party controlled Congress.  If the Republicans had control of Congress back then as they do now, Reagan would have gotten even more done.  I'm not ready to dump Trump.  Frankly I really can't blame Trump for working with Democrats while Ryan and McConnell stand in the corner facing the wall with their dunce caps on.

The first alarm bells should have been the appointment of Rinse Preebus as Chief of Staff.  A breathtakingly bad choice.  Horrible.  Then came the rest of the lackluster Cabinet, and his family members given White House advisor roles.

Neil Gorsuch is destined to be another John Roberts type sell out, so not exactly great - but better than what Hilary would have appointed.

From then on, a complete lack of leadership, an incoherent foreign policy, an incoherent domestic policy, Trump and his administration constantly contradicting each other.  No legislation after all this time, not even repeal of the dreadful ObamaCare.  And complete chaos in addressing the Democrat/Media false charges, and failure to investigate the very real felonies and abuses of power of the previous administration, including Mrs Clinton

Pathetic.  Much of the legislative failure is on McConnell and Ryan, but even there Trump is supposed to be the leader.  It's September, and the fiscal year ends in two weeks - where are we on the budget that's supposed to start making the difficult choices necessary to bring down the deficits?  Where is the immigration bill addressing the issues he ran on, the tax bill lowering taxes on the middle class and businesses, the bill to rebuild the military, or any of the rest of it?  This is a complete clown show.  Which was predictable and predicted.

Time's up, he needs to resign.  Not only that, take down the names of the people who spent the primary season insisting we elect Donald Trump, and ignore them in the future.

Resign, really?  Dial it back a notch.  Why so twitterpated?   Maybe Trump dumping on Ryan and McConnell is a good thing.  Maybe they will think twice in the future. Also,as far as I can tell, Gorsuch seems to be doing a fine job.

You were never for him to begin with. That's pretty obvious. I'm certainly not happy yet. I still want to see some prosecutions happen but I haven't given up hope just yet. Obama skated on bullshit hope and change platitudes for 8 years. At least Trump has provided some real hope to people in his short 8 months.

Trump needs to veto every piece of legislation that goes against his campaign promises and dare Congress to override each veto, thus putting each and every one of them on record prior to the 2018 midterm elections.

The government needs to be shut down for awhile if they refuse to act on campaign promises such as repealing Obamacare, simplifying/reducing taxes, enforcing our borders, and draining the swamp/cutting the federal government .

Ready to vote for term limits yet?

If he does what he promised in his campaign then I won't have a problem with him.  I'm for America and Hillary Clinton would have been the worst thing that could have happened to America.  Talk about an egomaniac, Trump pales next to Hillary.  I'm giving him plenty of time to do what he promised. If Trump doesn't follow through on his promises to his base, he won't be reelected.  Simple as that.

Yeah, I think I'm coming around to term limits.  I hate to lose good people but there are far too many bad ones.

Sorry but there isn't a single person in DC who isn't replaceable. Money has completely taken over the place. At least term limits will spread the wealth. Give more opportunity to people with real jobs to hold office for a few years. What we have now is broken.

I remember coming across this video before the election where cranky old coot, Dick Gregory says there are two Trumps: the red tie Trump and the blue tie Trump (the red tie Trump is the real Trump  ;)). It seemed crazy at the time and pretty much still does yet perhaps it's worth considering now. Notice he's been wearing the blue tie lately while making these deals with the Dems.  ;)

Quote
Trump’s Defense Secretary James Mattis said during the operation that the military had changed its strategy and was beginning to use “annihilation tactics,” instead of attrition, to defeat the group.

“Our intention is that the foreign fighters do not survive the fight to return home to North Africa, to Europe, to America, to Asia, to Africa, we are not going to allow them to do so,” Mattis said in May. “We are going to stop them there and take apart the caliphate.”

I find that Trump's Hope Sandwiches taste better than the previous occupant's, maybe it's the recipe/ingredients?

No, it's just because you're racist. Obviously, you haven't been watching mainstream news lately or they would've informed you of that.  ;)

Triggered Trump supporters are burning their MAGA hats over DACA deal

https://www.deathandtaxesmag.com/345276/trump-burning-mage-hats-daca/

Good video!

Quote
“You have become the swamp,” Withrow says as he lights his MAGA hat ablaze. “Either drain the swamp, or you will never make America great again.”

Withrow then gingerly sets the blazing hat on a glass table out on the patio and ends the video with a grim “Your move.” His mom is gonna be so pissed if that hat leaves a mark.

Oh dear...

Come on GS, I can't believe you are still harping on this when the majority of Americans want a fix, rather than repeal. Even many who once supported repeal have come to their senses. Repeal is so last year. The only way to bring down health care costs is to consolidate through large managed care, HMO-style plans. The Medicare 'buy-in' for working adults in their 50s is another feasible alternative. It's time to think outside the box, as we can't ever go back to the days of denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions.

The free market is great if you want to buy a new car--cancer treatment or a total hip replacement, not so much.

Replace it with whatever you want but start with a clean repeal and a deadline for replacement. The only thing that has doubled the cost is Obamacare.

I diasgree that there is only one way to bring down costs.

Let insurance companies sell a wide range of plans just like there were before. Let them sell them across state lines.

You are insane if you think the government makes anything cheaper just by taking it over.

How are student loans and the cost of college doing these days?

And deport every single illegal instead of trying to cover their healthcare costs. If they show up to an emergency room, get them healthy, deport them and send the bill to their country of origin. End of discussion.

Are you really so group think that you see all Trump supporters as one type of person? Try to remember that many who voted for him had previously voted for Obama. They just weren't taken in by his gaslighting platitudes and then doing the opposite of what he said when he was running. I actually think we may get a feasible public option under Trump...in his first term. You may resume your mindless cheerleading now.  ;)

You can't assume new heathcare solutions--even single payer--would be run by the government. For many years now the government has contracted a variety of services out to private companies. This is why I expect we may end up with a hybrid of private-government services. There is simply no place today, however, for private insurers who want to cherry-pick only healthy patients for maximum profits.

And your "across state lines" private insurance idea is no panacea either. What makes you think a good deal on a plan from Kentucky will cover your all your needs in Texas? It makes no sense. It's a fantasy promoted by the insurance industry who's more interested in your money than your good health.
