Disabling BellGab's "Ignore User" Feature

I personally don't care one way or the other.
However, I deal with enough bleating, bleeding vaginas in real life...

Keep the ignore feature, that way the precious people can ignore others until their forum experience is like their MyFace Wall. Most people who need to lean on the IU feature heavily rarely have anything interesting to input anyway. Why take the IU from them, and get a string of rants because they don't have the mental fortitude to simply ignore other members; or worse defend their arguments.

That's a pretty dumb argument. Saying that people annoy you in real life so they should have a chance to annoy you here. In my real life, if someone annoys me, I avoid them. Thats the beauty of the ignore feature. It makes a visit here easier. Why get rid of a great feature that helps and improves the site. I do not understand the reasoning.

That's what I do.  But it's not so much individual posters, than I just have competing interests and the discussions here fail to hold my interest.    But I will admit that these away episodes typically follow me lighting a particular member up for something they said that was particularly insufferable.  So it's a self-correcting thing for me.

Sure but seriously some posters just get off on posting things like tasteless pics which cannot be un-seen, over and over and over.  It can become quite distracting to all the good stuff on the site.  These folks are obviously either oblivious to the most basic social decorum or they're just intentionally trying to provoke a response - in either case, if they become un-ignorable, the flame wars shall burn with the heat of a thousand suns.

I've been thinking about doing it, for a couple of reasons.

1) I get a lot of complaints about it, and it's just gotten tiresome fielding them.

2) The feature's implementation isn't very effective anyway.

3) I just have this gut feeling that everybody should have the opportunity to see everything that's posted.  I think allowing people to ignore this user and that user just rips a lot of the character and flavor out of the forum.


My reason for posting this is to see what all of you think. Will you soil yourself if this feature is disabled?  Comment here, vote above.

This seems like a pointless poll. Those that are against an ignore feature likely would never use it so why should they care if it exists. There are also some potential ignore list candidates who are most likely to vote against just because. It also seems as if the OP would likely get more hassles from those that use the ignore if the ignore feature goes as they will likely report more posts.

My G rated standards must be kept, I'm precious. Such words and ideas shouldn't be used, in mixed company, you... you cyberbully. Seeing such bulling makes me mad, then I say bad things. Which might make someone not like me, or think less of my high standards. Do you know how many cutesy post I have to make, pretending to be my avatar; in a bid to seek attention, and curry favor from those I believe to be opposite sex around here? I mean the good posters. A single negative post by me could erase all of that, Sir. Losing face by tripping over my tail while white knighting is also a danger of seeing what the bad posters type around here.
