the land of fire and ice. the most amazing place i have ever lived. the landscape and night sky brought much of Norse mythology to life in my mind.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but...

My husband has been trying to figure out this guy for a few days.

This guy's hobby is collecting and trading dead car batteries like they're baseball cards. This little hipster dude then makes videos of himself emptying these batteries into used cat food buckets while wearing shorts and sandals, not sure if he's going full commando or not and would rather not know.

He then proceeds to whack at car batteries with a mason's chisel and a ball peen hammer to see if he could repair it!

I'm at a loss at how to explain this guy- he seems intelligent but so ungrounded (no pun intended). Anyway, he's a bit of a Youtube sensation. Watch for yourselves:

This is what he's capable of:

Which inevitably leads to this (remember this is battery acid):

And once the outdoor games are finished... let's proceed indoors and fix a variable power supply
Action begins at 8:30 on this video- his sense of proportionality for the right tool for the right job:

This won't appeal to everyone's sense of humor or point of interest, but it's one of those situations where you can't just look away. He has 400 videos on Youtube and now makes enough money to quit his job at McDonalds. The latest instalment has him moving to Silicon Valley for a new job!

I could use that varible power supply fixing You tube ,perhaps. I have 2 dead 0-30vDC  dead door stopss
right now and have to decide what May food will be like if I spring for a replacement next month.

Hi UA- I don't know your skill set for electronics, but I have a link to a great forum:

http://www.eevblog.com/forum/

They're the self proclaimed beautiful minds of electronics.  ;D As long as you don't ask them to do your homework- I'm sure you'll find them helpful. My husband has the same power supply and he said that it might be less expensive to buy a new one- Ebay about $49 with free shipping in the US. If you're outside the states than the shipping expense will make that a lot less affordable. Hope this helps and best of luck to you.  :)

I saw this a couple of weeks ago; I wouldn't like to be in that close proximity to the aircraft. Horrendous amount of turbulence in the wake. (note the wing isn't 'clean') Very brave.

This is how they did it...

I have been following Adam The Woo for several years now.  His early stuff is pretty cool and this video is from that time period.  He used to live in Florida but has since moved to California. Does lots of stuff on Disneyland now.

Yes it was the right place to post it, Pye!  I am now totally addicted to watching this kid go about reconditioning his batteries and other electronic mechanisms.  At the very start he seems to be mowing a godforsaken backwoods lot behind his mom's house.  Totally entertaining, and I plan to watch all of his YouTube videos.  Thanks to you and your hubby for turning me on to him.   ;)

Just noticed this topic and I have to post this about my friend Dan Garrison from Hye, Texas. He recently expanded his incredibly tasty business to many other states and if you are lucky enough to find his product, and are a connoisseur of great bourbon and whiskey, it will be a very good day! I've hung out with the guys at the distillery and they are true artists, uncompromising in their craft and a true family. Now, some say it is "pricey" and if you define pricey as  not getting enough quality for your money, you're dead wrong. Being an old veteran of Texas get-togethers, poker games, unsanctioned rodeos, and the best bar-b-ques in the world, I ask you to believe...... Find this if you can, you won't be sorry.

What a cool thread!   This one is certainly dangerous, stupid and bigoted but I laughed like hell the first time I saw it.
