So, tell me, how is opposition to Republicans presented?
Anti-American Communist is their retort to opposition

Yet you made a point of making liberals as bad guys, when both sides are more interested in holding onto beliefs past reason.

Never said they were bad...just presenting how each side markets the other

Sorry, I am having one of my "tired of being berated" moments.

As a default, factory setting.

RCD... good to see you back. Stop going away.
Thx man.  Been busy with a cross country move, second in as many years.  Should I post the minutiae of house hunting, packing and cleaning in the Falkie thread?  Seems to be what it is there for.

Only if your house is a stinking mess filled with box fans and Wendy's wrappers.
Welcome back, post oft.

RCD and RCH both experience "horrendous" moves apparently.

I don't read that thread, but can we at least not be so hateful and use the term smartbox fans instead? Thank you.

Easy on Jacky Boy, SciGuy.  His moments of lucidity are to be relished.

Top right. Make it so.

Any opposition to the Labour Party is "divisive"...same here, any opposition to the Democrats is "hate and racism"...

I lived through her time in office. So yeah, I know exactly what she did. Even today I could take anyone to villages that are now simply havens for drugs dens. Hearts ripped right out of once thriving and friendly places.

Yes I did! I loved her line, "Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money."

But, to a socialist, other people's money IS their money, because, we're all one big warm fuzzy village, and therefore, it is wrong for folks not to share what they have...

Unless you're a liberal, then you're exempt.

And that's her redeeming quality? Bleeding hell. She missed the bit about 'trickle down economics' being total bull, and how facetious it was that everyone should be free to buy what they already owned:

"You own gas, electricity, trains, water; well, if you have the dosh, we'll sell the shares you own back to you...but don't worry about misplacing them, because within twenty years all of the above will be owned by foreigners. Yep!! Didn't we mention that? Maybe not..

Ahh yes, free market economy with UK owned assets mean that Arabs, Germans French and pretty much anyone else can own what used to belong to you without you even knowing about it! The best bit is, the government of the day will subsidise any shortfall the train companies make to the tune of many times what the old British Rail was subsidised by..Oh, and the German and French railways are state owned so your subsidy (and train ticket) is propping up the German and French government"..Brilliant!

Thanks, General.  The missus runs a tight ship, leave something lying around and there is hell to pay.

Hope you and the family are doing well, and that all this gay marrying stuff hasn't destroyed your marriage.   ;)

Same old political arguments in democracies...each side believes they are right and the other is immoral...we would have utopia IF everyone else agreed with us...and on and on...

Nope; Simple bleeding obvious what was going to happen. Yes, it was immoral, but the same people who bleat on about how UK must compete with the rest of the world economically were there when UK PLC was given to the rest of the world, but oddly apologies and contrition there is none. I'm still waiting for the cheque that covers my shares in everything that was sold off (and I part owned) in the 80's..It wasn't the governments to sell, it was the property of the people.

Which side of the country are you on now?  East coast or Left coast?

Not saying your wrong, but given the fact that the Labour party ruled as much if not more than the conservative party, do they not hold any responsibility for the condition of Britain, good and bad?

Notchyet, but I got my door locked.
I'm going to have to let her back in eventually, though.

Yes of course. I loath Tony Blair (He should be tried at The Hague as a war criminal) as much as Thatcher; The only redeeming thing with Thatcher is that she's dead.

One of the many things I am proud about being from the US was our homesteading programs of the 19th and 20th centuries.  The government gave out land for free to anyone who would live on it and improve it! Also, one of the first programs available to black citizens after the civil war. My Grandfather homesteaded in Nebraska...it is the best and largest example of any government in the history of humanity actually giving land for free to its citizens.
